The space
Mill cottage is a two storey building full of original features like large exposed beams and a fabulous herring bone parquet floor.
The open plan Kitchen and Lounge have both front and rear access comprising of two sets of double doors leading first to a sunny conservatory and downstairs loo and then to a private courtyard garden surrounded by the original arched walls of mill chapel.
The front door via the porch is a split stable door giving it a proper old-world feel, opening onto the picturesque front of the mill, complete with cogs and millstones.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with a lovely old farmhouse table and bentwood chairs for family mealtimes. Open plan lounge with a woodburning stove, a comfy sofa and armchair, a mid-century sideboard and a beautiful stained glass window adding a touch of eclectic character.
Upstairs comprises of two beautifully decorated double bedrooms with brand new beds, each with chest of drawers, bedside lockers and lamps and windows with gorgeous views in both directions. The bathroom has a full size bath and integrated shower, and hotpress full of fresh towels and extra bedding.
Suitcases can be stored in the bottom of the press. There is also a hairdryer and an iron for your use.
Outside the front door is the historic Kilcarbry Mill and millrace built in 1826, a fantastic photo opportunity.
Set on two and a half acres of wonderful natural beauty you'll have a whole field and our established gardens with some majestic trees like the immense Lebanese cedar and a red beech, oak trees and a myriad of exotic shrubs and fruit trees.
We are on the River Borough which joins the Slaney.

Guest access
You have the cottage completely to yourselves.
You're also free to roam the extensive fields and gardens surrounding it.
Through the courtyard you can access the Miill race, the rivers Slaney and Borough, and the derelict Kilcarbry Mill. Enjoy the unspoilt natural beauty!
If you're lucky enough to arrive in season, there are apples, cherries, blackcurrants, gooseberries and raspberries on the trees!

Other things to note
The breathtaking riverside walk sometimes referred to locally as ‘The Ring’ is directly accessible from our garden. Just follow the mill race and you'll end up in the most magical woodland, absolutely brimming with enchanting scenery.
Make sure your camera battery is full as you'll want to take lots of pictures!
The walk up the river Borough is one you'll never forget. When the sun shines through the trees onto the golden-green moss, you'll feel like you've been transported to a magical land. You'll be half expecting elves and fairies to appear.
When you reach the bridge you can return along the other side of the river, where the landscape changes to a completely different world of tall pines and hills and dales. A complete scenery change like going from Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones!

Herons can be seen hanging around this part of the river, saying a lot about the tranquility of the walk. The birdlife is so abundant around here, it's a twitcher's paradise.

This wonderful place is an ideal environment for Artists, Photographers, Musicians, Yoga and Tai Chi practitioners and anything in between.

We are on the Slaney' Route 1' Cycling route.

Go Paddle dot ie is just down the road for any keen Kayakers.

Fishing is also popular around these parts (be sure to check up to date permissions before hand)

Location

Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland

The Kilcarbry Corn Mill, attached to the cottages, was built in 1876.
It has since been used as a generator supplying power to the Wexford County Lunatic Asylum, as a tobacco curing station opened by Lieutenant Colonel Loftus Anthony Bryan JP DL (1867-1939), and as a cleaning and packing station for the County Wexford Beekeepers' Co-Operative Society.

Now a beautiful ruin surrounded by unspoilt nature and steeped in local history. If you're lucky enough to meet the neighbour, he'll tell you some good stories!

With the new motorway M11, we are only an hour and twenty from Dublin city centre.

Rosslare Harbour only a 35 mins drive.
10 minute drive to Wexford
15 minutes to the beach
The perfect getaway.
