Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Our Lava house overlooks the North Atlantic Ocean from every window in the living area while also being walking distance to the town of Arnarstapi. It is possible to see whales swimming from the living room, so bring binoculars in case! There is great outdoor space, which is one of the highlights of the home. A lava rock garden, large deck and hot tub are all available for your enjoyment! The location is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking adventure.

The space
The house is about two and a half hours drive from Reykjavík, and about three hours from Keflavík International Airport. This house is 90 sq meters and has two bedrooms, an additional reading/lounging loft, a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room with a smart TV (which includes a complimentary Netflix account), dining table and what we call our Victorian sun room. The sun room is all glass windows with two large windows that can be opened. Sliding glass doors open directly from the sun room to the hot tub area. Each bedroom has a queen bed, with one room also having a twin bed, which allows for flexible sleeping arrangements. The aurora borealis - northern lights: are visible (whenever they are out) from the bedrooms, the loft window and all common areas. There are many more hiking and excursion options by car. Contact us directly for more recommendations and for our favorites!

Where you’ll be

Arnarstapi, Iceland

There is a large arctic tern colony in Arnarstapi village itself and along many of the side streets. Many other birds, including kittiwakes and fulmars, also call Arnarstapi home. It is such a beautiful part of the Snaefflessnes peninsula. Arnarstapi is also great destination when planning to climb the Snæfellsjökull Glacier, as tours leave from town. Stapafell Mountain can also be seen from the bedrooms.
Our favorite hike in Iceland is the hike from Arnarstapi to Hellnar. It is a moderate, doable hike with the best views of Iceland's cliffs and bird colonies. You have access to this hike directly from our backyard, as the property connects to the hike closer to the ocean
