The room we offer you is much too comfortable & really homey - all past guests have said so. It nicely fits two & is located near a metro station for you to easily explor the city. The neighborhood is unique & it even has the calm of a little town!
The house is a really warm kind of home with very spacious both common areas and rooms. Downstairs, it owns a traditionally good looking kitchen, a very spacious dining room and living room and four private rooms on the second floor.
Located in the East of the City it is a 10 minute walk from the Metro station Cerro de la Estrella (Line 8). There's also really easy transport access to buses or taxis. The neighborhood is quite unique for it is a very traditional borough and it's also calm and safe.
The rent of the room includes: Wireless Internet. Clean Towels & sheets.
We'll try our best to make you feel like home!
As our guests you can pretty much have access to any place in the house, obviously while being respectulf and kind towards us. The dining room and living room as well as the kitchen downstairs are spacious enough for you to relax in them if you should desire it.
It is both because of the huge space being wasted most of the time with only two people living in it and because we just adore meeting new people we would love to welcome you in our home!
We've had such pleasure in hosting past guests that we always try to interact as much as possible with them - that is only if they desire as such.
It's a wonderful thing to share our time and experiences with people who are willing to do the same with you!
Excelentes personas nos trataron como si fueramos parte de su familia. Nos ayudaron a ubicarnos en el DF, quedamos muy agradecidos por su hospitalidad. Hasta el gato es buena onda.
The reservation was canceled 26 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Itzel and Maribel are super kind and generous, affording you the luxury of a real homestay while in a typical neighbourhood in Mexico City. Maribel is an amazing cook, and as breakfast is included during the weekdays, this is an amazing bonus. I especially recommend the potato tacos and the Mexican eggs. ;)
They both came to my rescue when a taxi driver straight from the airport stopped in the middle of nowhere demanding more money. I was able to call them and they jumped straight in their car to save me! It was like having family in the city, which was lovely.
Their house is colourful and cool; a welcome respite from the outside heat. The room is basic but has everything you need: the single bed is comfortable (I had a perfect night's sleep there) and the en suite bathroom is clean and compact, with lots of hot water for the shower, which has great pressure.
I have heard different reports about the safety of the area; their previous guests have had no problems at all and have enjoyed the neighbourhood, but I have also heard from other locals and foreigners living in the city that it can be dangerous. Do your research and make up your own mind ;)
The location is about 20-45 mins on the subway from downtown/ museum area. I'm not a fan of the subway so this didn't work for me (their profile was so irresistible that I did not check the location - my bad) however I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know them, eat Maribel's food and be in their wonderful home.
You couldn't ask for nicer hosts than Maribel and her daughter Itzel, they welcomed me so kindly into their home and helped me so much with tips on how to get around Mexico City like the locals do. The accomodations were warm and comfortable, and there were plenty of places nearby to eat. I hope to return again next year!
We left Maribel’s and Itzel’s place just a few days ago and we already miss it. This was basically our first time in Mexico, and we really couldn’t have found two better hosts. From the very first night, we instantly felt so welcomed into their home almost as if we were part of the family. We ended up spending several evening together talking around the table, heading out to the mariachis at Plaza Garibaldi, and finding some of the best street food in the city. They went above and beyond just offering us a bed. They gave us a great introduction to a city that can be a little intimidating.
Not enough space to express how lovely it was to stay here for one month in July/August. On my very first day Maribel set me up with all the necessary things to navigate the city: maps, a metro card, and loads of advice about the sights and sounds. She also took me to incredible restaurants and markets in the neighborhood of Iztapalapa— beautiful places that I wouldn't have discovered on my own, for sure. Also, the stunning Cerro de Estrella park is just nearby— a "must-see," in my opinion. Best of all, Maribel shared her excellent cooking with me on a regular basis— truly it was a wonderful and warm environment.
I was there to do some academic work and it was absolutely ideal, so I also recommend it to anyone who's in DF for research purposes or the like. Even more, Maribel put me in touch with other writers in the city and I instantly had a social network and company to explore the vibrant poetry/music scene that DF had to offer.
Really, to echo the other comments, this worked out far better than I had hoped and I strongly recommend it !
Itzel y Maribel son súper amigables y serviciales. Me ayudaron con todo y todo tipo de recomendaciones para hacer de que mi estadía fuera súper placentera.
El lugar es muy bonito, limpio y tranquilo.
Itzel and Maribel were the best hosts I could imagine. My friend and I stayed with them for five days and it was a great introduction to the city. Itzel is a fantastic guide--she showed us parts of the city that not many visitors see--and Maribel's cooking is incredible. The house is really comfortable, plenty of space, and close to the metro so it's easy to get around. Overall, highly recommended. Staying with them felt like family--we're so glad to have made new friends and can't wait to return.
