Located a short drive from the bay area in the majestic redwoods, Camp Cruz is a "glamping" facility perfect for couples or friends who want a camping-like get away without giving up basic living comforts. It offers guests a choice between 2 private bedrooms: the Raven’s Nest and the Owl’s Nest. There is a fully equipped covered outdoor kitchen, hot showers, and much more. Ideal for physical distancing, enjoy a private cathedral of redwoods to unwind and recharge in nature.

The space
We know it’s a lot, but please read ALL the details in this listing before inquiring to book! Scroll down to see details about potential noise and wildlife in our area.
This is an outdoor retreat facility offered to enjoy and connect with nature. It has a composting toilet and outdoor showers and kitchen.

Perfect for guests looking to unplug, WiFi is not available, but there is a Verizon cell signal.

Our space may not be suitable for families with children, as the structures are separate and each one only sleeps up to two people. We accept inquiries with children on a case by case basis, depending on the ages of your children and the sleeping requirements necessary to accommodate your group..

The “Nests”:
Guests will choose between the Raven’s Nest (aircrete dome) and the Owl’s Nest (yurt) when booking at Camp Cruz. To be clear, we only accept one reservation at a time, so whether you’re just one couple or a group of four all coming together, you will have the whole camp to yourselves. For a party of two, you can choose either the aircrete dome or the yurt. For groups of three or four, you will get both structures.

The aircrete dome, also known as The Raven’s Nest, has electricity with an electric heater and a double sized futon bed with bedding provided. It features a large round window seat that looks out towards the garden.
The yurt, also known as The Owl’s Nest, is equipped with electricity and a wood stove for heat with firewood provided. We also provide a queen sized electric blanket as an alternative, or in addition to, the wood stove to keep you cozy during the winter months. There is a double sized futon bed with bedding provided. A private deck wraps around half of the structure.
**Guests traveling with a dog will be asked to lodge in the Owl’s Nest/yurt, as it is a little bigger in size, further away from the private residences and we want to keep one structure pet free for our guests who are allergic. We appreciate your understanding!

Camp Cruz features a covered outdoor kitchen with electricity on a spacious deck. The kitchen includes a propane oven/stove with pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils, a collection of spices, a charcoal grill (guests should bring their own briquettes for the grill), a sink with potable well water, a full sized refrigerator, a French press and an industrial coffee maker. We provide paper towels, hand sanitizer, dish and hand soap. There is a full sized ping pong table in the kitchen area for your enjoyment.

Guests have access to the aircrete dome and the yurt (one or both depending on group size), outdoor kitchen, propane campfire pit, showers and compost toilet, garden area and creek side deck.

The landscape includes a creek with easy access, a vibrant garden, hammocks, a deck overlooking the creek, and other open spaces in the forest. We provide our guests with a guide to nearby hiking trails.

**Special Activity Available for Our Musical Guests: The Music Dome/Eagle’s Nest is a 22 ft. geodome fully set up as a musical jam room at our camp (see photos). Guests interested in using this space should inquire for further details in their inquiry message. Hours of availability are from 2:00 - 8:00pm. Cost is $10.00 per hour.

**An important note about campfires at Camp Cruz: In response to the recent years of drought and devastating wildfires, we have converted our fire pit to propane and provide propane free of charge. Fire pit hours are from sundown to 11pm.

**Note about Covid-19: Guests can rest assured that we sanitize and disinfect all guest spaces in between reservations. We run a UV light inside both structures for one hour after we manually clean the space in between guests. We expect our guests to take precautions regarding stopping the spread of the virus, including wearing a mask when checking in and staying home if you are sick or have symptoms.

Watsonville, California, United States

Our listing is located on just over 4 acres in a redwood forest up a canyon. Our location has a park-like setting. Our guests will have private use of the camp area, which is situated in a separate location on the property, but it is in close proximity to our home residence. Our closest neighbor is a Buddhist Retreat Center, which for the most part, is a quiet sanctuary. However, they do occasionally host weddings and if you are visiting on one of those weekends, you can expect to hear some noise/music from the reception, which always ends promptly at 10pm. Guests can also expect to hear some occasional road noise.
Because we are located in a wilderness area, we co-exist with wild life critters. They are around, but not often seen. The wild animals that live in our area include owls, hawks and other birds, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, bobcats and mountain lions.

During your stay

Although the camp facility is a short distance away from our home, it is situated in a way that offers privacy to our guests. We are normally home during our guest's stay, and like to meet and give them a brief orientation to make sure they are comfortable. We aim to respect their privacy, but at times we can be seen working in the garden or around the property during the day.
