The best thing about this house is the location. The train station (Carnegie) is a 6-8 minute walk away, which makes it easy to get to the city or to either Clayton or Caulfield Monash campuses. There were also some buses running close by, including one to Chadstone Shopping Centre which is just down the road.
Koornang Road, the main Carnegie road, is a 3 minute walk. A great street, we counted about 20-25 restaurants, some nice cafés, big grocery store, a used book shop, pharmacies, fruit stands, etc. It’s a really nice suburb to live in.
The room size is a bit on the small size for two people, and lacking in storage space. The bed was quite comfortable, and we mostly slept very well. There is a desk fan and space heater for use, we were there in February so didn’t have an use for the heater, but we slept with the fan on and outside door half open and were pretty comfortable, temperature-wise.
The best part about the room was the outdoor courtyard with the table and chairs. It gave us a lot more space and we ended up eating most of our meals out there (it was also nice to have the space to hang up our clothes)
The room wasn’t that clean when I arrived – I had to vacuum under the bed and the corners myself (they clearly hadn’t been done in a while), but it didn’t take much time.
Bill (the landlord) was a great guy and very helpful. We were able to check in early (maybe that accounts for the room being a bit messy) with no worries. He was always very fast at replying to messages, and even paid for us to get an extra set of room and house keys. There was also a bottle of wine waiting for us.
The house itself was ok. Not that modern, but everything seemed to work. The common areas usually stayed relatively clean, given that it’s a shared house. The kitchen seemed mostly fully equipped. We shared the bathroom with 3 other rooms, so up to 6 other people, which meant there were some waiting times.
We havent met bill in person, but everything worked perfectly!
The room was clean, public transport close by and we really had a good time there. Overall a good value!
Bill is always responsive and made the stay pleasant. The tenants are really nice people too. Location is good.
Its a Nice place, your own room with a little outdoor place! We enjoyed our stay!
We were relocating back to Melbourne while staying at Bill's, and it was a great place to base from. Easy location and functional room, the house was quiet and friendly.
