Our cave apartment was the most romantic place we ever stayed: the view from the balcony is breathtaking. It is a completly unobstructed view to the sea: it is just gorgeous. Our initial plan was to explore the island, but as we got there, Oia was so charming and the view so amazing that we spent most of the time there: we got.things in the supermarket and prepared out breakfast while we looked at the ocean, we had wine watching thr sun set. We went swimming in Ammoudi bay just a few minutes from the house ( the way back l, though, is quite an exercise ). Giannis was great and provided us with great restaurant suggestions: we specially loved a place called 'The Red Bycicle' which was just around the corner. Giannis was also a great host, providing us a lot of information. The apartment inside is also beautiful and has a fully equipped kitchen with a great espresso machine.
In summary: it is impossible not to love this place.
It's great to have a host like Giannis. At our arrival past midnight, he ensured someone picked us up at the airport and he talked to us when we arrived at this place. He wanted to make sure our stay would be a great experience.
The place is very wonderful and we stayed for 4 nights. It has a great view of Aegean sea and Santorini islands. The house was as expected and the family loved it.
Appartement parfait!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hector Cave House from the 26th of July until the 30th of July. The Cave House was a great place to stay in Oia, with short distance to everything. Fantastic view, and very nice appartment, central situated in Oia. The host, Giannis, helped us with transportation from the port and to the airport, and also made sure we had a good stay during our visit to Santorini. We would highly recommend this place for other visitors.
Giannis has a beautiful home high above the sea in Oia, Santorini! The house is very tastefully decorated and the terraces are spectacular! Unsurpassed view! Giannis was great at keeping in touch both before and during our stay, and sent us a detailed email with advice and info. It would have been great to meet him but he was not in Santorini when we were there. That said, he did make sure we had what we needed and that there was someone to check us in upon arrival. Would definitely recommend!
Most amazing view ever. Heaven on earth. Giannis is the perfect host, very good communication. The perfect stay. Thanks for everything.
Okay. This house/cave is simply amazing. It's in a great location and is super cozy to the max. The view is stunning. It's close to all the restaurants/bars/breakfast spots and shops. I suggest you hike to Amoudi bay and swim. Walk back up because the donkeys look sad :/ The cave is super quiet even though there are tons of tourists walking by. The only negative of Oia is the tourists, but the view and coziness of the house make you easily forget that. Giannis had his assistant meet us at the van (which he arranged from the port) and even helped with our bags. The walk is short from the taxi, 5mins. Giannis called the landline (which was handy for making local calls!) and was more than helpful and friendly. Amazing trip.
About the Host, Giannis
I am Giannis, 35 years old and I grew up in Athens.
After studying and working abroad (UK and Switzerland) for 5 years,I decided to come back in Greece and work for a family business.
In 1998 my parents visited Santorini Island and they fell in love with Oia village where they bought that picturesque cave house…
Since then all about my summer vacations is to lay back at that terrace and admire the spectacular view.
Traveling is to share…
There is no better way of doing this, other than sharing the experience with other travelers.
Of course I will not lose any chance to discover unique destinations like Santorini around the world…
