The Nest at Big Trees is a cozy cabin located next door to Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

Included in your stay: CA Parks Pass (for free entrance to state parks); Big Trees Rec Center Pass (for access to the neighborhood pool and recreation); Sno Parks Pass (for access to state-run Sno Parks)

The space
Though we do offer many beds, our cabin is small and not recommended for large groups.

On the first floor, you will find the living room, including a smart tv (with streaming) and fireplace. The sofa folds out in to a queen sized bed. There are toys, games, DVDs and books to enjoy. There is also a small breakfast nook and counter seating for 3 (no dining table).

In the kitchen, you will find everything you need to prepare and serve meals inside or out on the deck. There is an electric stove top, oven, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee pot (bring k-cups!). We have lots of dishes, pans and utensils, etc.

The master bedroom is on the first floor and has a queen sized bed. There is a dresser for your use, ceiling and floor fans, and a wall a wall-mounted tv with streaming. This bedroom has a door to the first floor bathroom, too.

The first floor bathroom has a large shower space with double shower heads. Both bathrooms come supplied with hand and bath soaps.

Upstairs are two small bedrooms with full-size beds. There are dressers for guests, a/c units, and floor fans in both bedrooms. The bedrooms both have jack-and-jill-style access to the second bathroom.

The second bathroom is only accessible through the second floor bedrooms. It has a tub with overhead shower.

The third floor loft is accessible by ladder from the second floor landing. It is a space that is best for big kids (or adults who are kids at heart and don't mind a low ceiling and ladder entrance). There is a full size bed and two twin beds in the loft. It is not a space that is safe for young children to be in unattended. Older, responsible children will love it, though!

Sit outside on the back deck and enjoy a bbq dinner among the redwoods. Or take a short walk to Snowshoe Lake. In the summer (apx. Memorial Day to Labor Day), you can head to the Big Trees Recreation Center for a swim in the pool (or play basketball, pickleball, or use the disc golf course).

The highlight of our our location is Calaveras Big Trees State Park, just a 7 minute drive away. The charming towns of Arnold and Murphys aren't far away, either. In the other direction, you will find the magnificent Hwy 4 drive that will lead you to Bear Valley Ski Resort or Lake Alpine. Don't forget to explore the Stanislaus River, check out the award-winning local wineries, and tour the caverns in the area.

REGARDING CHILDREN:
Children are welcome, but the cabin is NOT childproofed. Ask us about safety considerations if you're travelling with young children.
