Named for our favorite Smooth Hound Smith song, "Young & Golden" is a 12'x14' safari tent on a wooden platform with a roof. Listen to tree frogs while drifting off to sleep on a queen size memory foam bed with soft, dreamy linens. The tent features power, lamps, chairs, and a desk inside. Outside, enjoy a private fire pit or sit a spell on a rocking chair on the back deck. The Community Shelter (providing a sink & shower) and port-o-potty are a short walk away. Bath house coming in May 2021!

The space
Young & Golden is secluded, yet close to amenities like the Community Shelter, which provides a a sink, mirror and outdoor shower, as well as useful cooking items: charcoal grill, refrigerator, electric burner, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans and tongs. We also have a grate system that allows you to cook over the open fire (grates are hanging from a tree near the community fire pit).

A regularly maintained port-o-potty is nearby. Full bathhouse coming in May 2021!!

Parking is approximately 200 feet from the tent.

The main trail to the lake begins right past the shelter, and there are other trails located throughout the property that take you to a natural spring and along the multiple creeks that flow down into Lake Cumberland.

Known as the houseboat capital of the world, Lake Cumberland is a paradise for fisherman and boaters alike. We are conveniently located near 3 boat launches: a public launch at the end of Highway 2393, Fall Creek Recreation Area and Conley Bottom Marina, which offers a great selection of houseboat and small boat rentals.

SEASONAL NOTE: During the spring and early summer, the level of the lake is very high and our "beach" space is limited. Sometimes the water is actually up in the tree line. There are other access points nearby, however. (listed in our guidebook)

Other nearby points of interest include the Brown Lanier House and Mill Springs, a fully functioning grist mill tucked into a beautiful wooded area overlooking the lake. Kentucky treasures like Cumberland Falls and the Big South Fork are 45 minutes away. Check out our guide for more information.
