This is a dorm-style atmosphere with great long-term tenants, international travelers, and a friendly on-site manager. Please bring your own towel. This room is similar to the others I have listed, that's why I am just using the same photo. For views of the premises look at the other properties. Thank you for not requesting additional photos of the rooms.
INTERNET: Free wi-fi is available in the living room and dining area, but due to usage it can be VERY slow. If you rely upon wi-fi for work you should arrange your own wireless modem or you can go to starbucks nearby.
PARKING: Free street parking is available nearby (but it goes quickly), otherwise it is $4.00/day at the meters or $4.00/day at the nearby lot. Metered spots are enforced from 6 am - 4 pm and they also cost $4.00 per day.
GETTING THERE: From LAX take the FlyAway bus ($7.00 one way) to Union Station, then take the Gold Line to the Little Tokyo stop. The building is two short blocks away.
WEEKEND ARRIVAL: Please keep in mind that if you are arriving on a Saturday or Sunday the manager may not be there in person to let you in, but there is a lockbox from which you retrieve your keys.
CHECKING IN: Check-in is at 3 pm, Check-out is at 12 noon. Once your reservation is accepted you will receive a phone number for the on-site manager, Alex (different from the one currently listed). Please contact him immediately to discuss check-in details. Please do not wait until the last minute to call. Thank you!
SECURITY DEPOSIT: Because most of our tenants are long-term guests, our security deposit is the equivalent of one month's rent. The deposit is held by Airbnb through your credit card and they will return it to you after your stay. We have had a couple hundred individual reservations with our building and have only had to make deductions for damages a couple of times. If you are a responsible guest, you should have no worries.
ADDITIONAL GUESTS: Additional guests are not allowed without prior notification and prior permission given by the host. Unless agreed to otherwise, any additional guests who stay past 10 pm will be charged an additional $10 per night. If an additional guest is brought without prior permission and paid for in advance, you may lose your security deposit or have your reservation cancelled. Thank you in advance for not bringing overnight guests without prior permission.
Shared bathrooms are cleaned daily, as is the shared kitchen. Laundry facilities are on site. We have a communal, international atmosphere.

Simple, super barebones location - 2 blocks from the metro station and Little Tokyo. My room was clean, the bathrooms are older, but fine. Bring towels, soap, shampoo, etc and shower shoes. Also laundry on site and a large shared kitchen if you need. Individual sinks in rooms. I felt safe. Worked out for me especially since I was so busy I just needed a place to sleep.
The host was accommodating to my late arrival and I felt I could always be able to communicate with him. The location was amazing! I walked to the Tokyo Plaza and ate at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. At night I also walked and stumbled upon by a full bar/antique arcade/pinball/food truck spot called eighty two(82) that was walking distance. The last day I visit the Buddhist temple that is just in front and listened to a Buddha give his wise words in Japanese while a translator would convert the sentences in English. I felt it was a great way to start my last day in LA. I would definitely stay here again because the price for the location was extremely convenient. Thank you!
The host Jefferson Fc responded pretty quickly on my first few emails (just about questions), then responded fast in time to my booking request, 2 nights (less than 24 hrs.).
He even suggested me to try out the place first before possibly renting for a longer term. Thank you Jefferson. His on-site manager, Alex, is super too, very friendly and helpful. Thank you too, Alex. This location is about less than 5-minute walk to
subway Gold Line - East LA bound (Little Toyko stop). For Gold Line - Pasadena bound, it is one stop from Little Toyko to Union Station where you can transfer to many different buses, subways, metrolink & Amtrak. The surrounding is pretty safe and clean. Less than 10-minute walk to Japanese Village Plaze where many eateries are there and a Japanese small supermarket there too.
The residence itself, with this price, is good for budget minders and those just looking for sleep staying. Dorm, basic style and restrm & bathrm clean enough (with this aged building). WiFi is on and off. The room #212 I stayed, is clean enough although the sheets/comfortables/pillows may looked aged. (then, again, please bear in mind, this is a really "budget" place). Thank you Jefferson for providing this budget place. Best wishes to you, your staff and all the travelers out there.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Sogo Residences provided exactly what I needed, a room to sleep in and bathroom to bathe. The barebones nature of the place pushes you out to explore LA, which is what I needed and wanted. I recommend it to anyone who is staying in LA and just needs to rest their head at night.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was very cheap. The location was good. The building was just old, dirty, and spooky.
