Fully equipped kitchen; and large bathroom with tub and shower. Towels and linens provided as well as TV and WiFi.Well lit laundry room on first floor. My place is unique because of its spaciousness, comfort, light and quiet location.

Roosevelt Island also features the Four Freedoms Park, a memorial park to US President Franklin Roosevelt, at the south end of the island with majestic views of Manhattan.

  • I had a lovely time here. Dottie was very friendly and helpful always.
The place was very quiet -totally easy access to Manhattan- but really a nice peaceful walk along the river to relax after all the hubbub of the city. I felt completely safe. I caught the red tram that crosses the East river each morning and it was an easy 5 minute walk from Dottie's place -and right beside the subway stop, a lovely tram ride and 'poof' you're into the action. Staying with her is relaxing and informative. She's a seasoned host with a great heart. It created a nice oasis from Manhattan that is literally one subway stop away from the action. Couldn't be more convenient...and yet provides for a very friendly relaxed stay!
    enjoy!! jamie

  • Dottie is a very good, friendly host. Her apt is a very clean and quiet place to stay. There was everything i need for comfortable stay. Dottie's place is very good located to Manhattan. The apt is 5 min from subway or air tram station by "free red bus". You can take an air tram or subway(F train) to get to Manhattan(just one station). Also it was easy to get to Dottie's place from JFK.
I definitely recommend Dottie's place for everyone who planning trip to NY.

  • I am so glad I stayed on Roosevelt island on this visit. It is a fascinating corner of New York, with a great subway connection. Dottie's apartment is warm and lovely, and so is Dottie. She took the time to orient me, shared one of her books of New York, and graciously helped out when I forgot my keys in the apartment. I highly recommend this great spot.

  • Dottie was an amazing host and very nice and helpful. Roosevelt Island is idyllic and very close to Manhattan. The tram is lovely and offers spectacular views of the East River. I would highly recommend Dottie, just not when I need to be there, LOL!!!

  • Dottie's apartment is perfectly located to explore New York. One subway stop to Lexington Avenue and the F line that services Roosevelt Island is a handy line to be on. I alternated between the subway and the aerial tramway which is an experience in itself. The Island itself is an oasis of calm from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Even though there is a bus on the island, the walk to the tram or subway station is pleasant and takes about 5 minutes if you don't stop along the way to sit by the river or stop at the well stocked supermarket, drugstore or deli.
Dottie's building is superb, with a doorman and laundry which was easy to use. The view from her balcony is soothing and the night lights are spectacular.
I only saw DOttie at the beginning and end of my visit as she went on holiday. When she was there she was gracious and helpful and listened indulgently to my chatter about what I had seen or done that day.
The amenities in the apartment leave nothing to be desired. Air con, bathtub to soothe sore muscles after a long day walking, excellent wireless service, comfortable bed, feather pillow, light filled pleasant room, comfortable lounge room. Perfect for a solo traveller wanting a comfortable, quiet place to return to after a day exploring the city.
This was my first Airbnb experience and it was brilliant and very reasonably priced.

  • Dottie is a great host ; discreet and helpful and the cheery bedroom and relaxing apartment is truly a gift of a home away from home. The view onto the river is soothing, her kitchen is practical (didn't do any cooking but found everything I needed easily (and with, as the British airline, BOAC, would've said in the past "with a minimum of fuss"). She has lovely taste in books, music and the flowers on the balcony allowing one to taste the outdoor air while sipping a tea are just the finishing touch to a delightful moment. I truly recommend a stay at Dottie's to anyone (especially loving calm, culture and nature) visiting New York City.
