Elegant, quiet room in the historical, hip, safe Garbatella area. Only 20 minutes from downtown, by metro or bus. Fascinating to filmmakers, students and artisans, Garbatella was originally constructed to house displaced workers under fascist rule. A village within a city, the neighbourhood's delightfully diverse food offerings and relaxed nightlife is a reflection of Garbatella's free-thinking residents.

The space

Garbatella was built in an area marked by hills and meadows crossed by Via delle Sette Chiese. Via delle Sette Chiese provided a link for the pilgrims to travel between San Paolo fuori le mura and San Sebastiano. It was organized in blocks, called Italian Lotto, by multiple architects over a period of about 20 years. Not far away is the ancient Via Appia with Roman archeological sites such as the catacombs and Tomba di Cecilia Metella. A bike path connects the area to the city center (15 minutes).

The apartment is located in a quiet street with a lovely balcony surrounded by trees. It is the perfect space to relax after the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome.

The room is spacious and comfortable. You will have the use of the kitchen and shared bathroom(s), as well as the opportunity to meet other travellers.

The price includes:
- Wi-Fi
- bed linens
- use of the washing machine
- hair dryer

Our primary goal is that you will feel at home in Rome.

Staying at Damiano's wonderful home has been my best experience on airbnb so far. He was more than helpful... especially when I had multiple logistical issues ( all of which were my fault ). He is a wonderful person to talk to and ask questions about Rome or any other place in Europe. The room itself is clean and spacious. The closet is helpful if you're staying for longer than two days. The place is located about an 8 minute walk to the metro station. There are multiple cafes and restaurants in the area as well. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at Damiano's for a unique and realistic experience of modern Italian living.

THIS WAS QUITE AN EXPERIENCE. My first night in the apartment was a bit of a rough one, since there was no a/c and it was mosquito season; but after a day or so I had gotten use to it. First off the place is very spacious and completely quite at night. By the second night, I had felt like I had been living there for years and learned all the public transit stops, how far everything was from the place. All in all, the place is quite far from the touristy stops but after roaming around in Rome, you'd probably wanna get away from all the noise outside, then this place is it. Damiano is a great host and he's an interesting person to talk to and there helpful when wanting to know how and where to go.

My 5 day trip to Rome wouldn't have been the same if I'd stayed anywhere other than Damiano's. He and his son were so friendly and welcoming; right as I arrived, there was a plate of pasta waiting for me. Several mornings Damiano brewed me fresh coffee, even though I was soon hooked on the caffe macchiati from the local cafes. Garbatella is a magical neighborhood, I ended up spending more walking through its streets than I'd anticipated. If you want to feel like a local in Rome, do yourself a favor and book this place.

Even though my flight was delayed Damiano was there with a warm welcome and was overall very helpful in getting me situated. The area is nice and quite with several dining options as well as close to public transportation. Everything in the apartment was as advertised - clean, quite and convenient.

I booked Damiano's room based on all the great reviews he received, I must say meeting him in real person is much more than all the reviews you can read. He is genuine and down to earth, he knows a lot and have great conversion....yes.... in English. He gave me instructions how to get to his house from Roma Termini, it was very easy and quick by taking the A metro line, when I arrived he was already waiting for me. His apartment is big, the room is big and clean with lots natural light from the window. The full kitchen is a huge plus if you like to do some cooking, and the bathroom is also super clean. From his apartment to the metro station is about 10 minutes walk, along the way, they are bar, caffe, pizzeria(You must go to this pizzeria call "Banonto"), supermarket and fruit market. Take the metro to all the popular tourist destinations from 10mins to 30mins, very convenient. I had stayed for 7 nights, but for sure I will be back, molto grazie Damiano!

Damiano's place is in a really nice neighborhood (Garbatella) with some great places nearby (definitely eat at Acino Brillo!!). It's a bit out of the way so it's very quiet and peaceful. Damiano is very welcoming and accommodating. He met me very late and even took me to dinner one night I was there. He also drove me to the airport for a reasonable price (and at a very early hour).
