My home is for sale so house guests must agree to allow viewings (by appointment at their convenience.) Thanks for understanding and please read the entire listing carefully before requesting a reservation!
Rustic, simple, no-frills traditional Maine farmhouse in the peaceful "Valley of Stars", a very rural stretch of coastal land tucked away on the pristine Brooksville peninsula. A lovely, one mile walk through woods and meadows to a beautiful cove. 1 hour to Acadia, 20 minutes to Blue Hill.

The space
Plain, rustic old farmhouse, furnished simply. 6 bedrooms, 2 downstairs with private bathrooms, 4 more upstairs with a shared bathroom.

The house sits on the quiet Coastal Road, amid 10 acres of meadow, woods and stream, a pleasant, one mile walk or drive to a quiet, serene bay.

The kitchen is basic: new gas stove, cooking pots & pans, dinnerware, cutlery. No microwave, no dishwasher. Washer/dryer in laundry room.

No TV. Houseguests have to set up and pay for their own wifi/internet account. DSL is available. All other utilities (central heat, gas, electric) are covered by me.

I do not charge a cleaning fee but I do require a security deposit which you would only have to pay if there is damage.

IMPORTANT:
Please understand that my home is for sale. Houseguests must be comfortable with allowing access to potential buyers, always scheduled at your own convenience.
I do not expect you to answer any of their questions nor give anyone a guided tour, but you should be comfortable with letting buyers look into the rooms and roam the property.
Should the house be sold while you are renting it you will be able to stay until the end of your reservation and your rental money will go to the new owner.

Thank you for understanding!

Where you’ll be

Brooksville, Maine, United States

We are 4 miles from Buck's Harbor, which boasts a deep harbor, town marina, Yacht Club, a general store and Bucks restaurant, a fine dining eatery which serves dinners with ingredients from local farms. Brooksville is bounded on the west by Penobscot Bay, on the north and east by the Bagaduce River (a tidal estuary), and on the south by the famous sailing waters of Eggemoggin Reach. It is nearly an island, with just two slim land bridges to the rest of the mainland, and 54 miles of shoreline. This gives it a protected, insular quality cherished by summer and year-round residents alike.
Maine contains the largest light-pollution-free area in the eastern half of the United States. Measured on the Bortle scale (think Richter scale for astronomers) the darkest night skies in northern Maine place second on a scale of one to nine. On clear nights the stargazing is truly magical.
The coastal town of Blue Hill (20 min drive) has shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, a supermarket, gas stations, a hospital, banks, etc. On summer nights the Blue Hill Waterfront Town Park hosts weekly street dances under the stars with Flash in the Pans, the area's long-standing community steel drum band.
The Blue Hill Peninsula is home to the chamber music venue Kneisal Hall, the Stonington Opera House and the Grand Auditorium, offering concerts featuring international artists in everything from Shakespeare productions to live classical, folk, jazz, rock, and world music performances.
