"Cotter Downtown Church" is the historic Cotter Presbyterian Church built in 1914 and has been an iconic part of Cotter's downtown area ever since. The stained-glass windows are all original, as is the Bell in the Bell Tower! Our space is set up with the bedrooms downstairs and the kitchen/living area upstairs in the "sanctuary". There are plenty of beds for a group or a multi-family vacation. Come and stay in the Church for an experience like no other!!

The space
We wanted to preserve the history and beauty within this historic building and make it accessible to as many visitors as possible by listing it for groups or families after we finished the renovations. Come with your family & friends and enjoy a piece of history like no other! Cotter’s history was centered upon the Railroad which once included the Roundhouse and many other industries that utilized the nearby White River to service their customers. The Cotter Presbyterian Church was built in 1914 and served the town of Cotter for many years. In the early 80s the Church was renovated into office spaces that were used by a few businesses here in the town, to include the Chamber of Commerce. In 2018 a renovation to turn the Church into a residence began which brings us to 2020 where we stepped in to finish off what our friend had started. I (Jason) have some history with the Church, as I worked in one of the offices for a short time while I was in High School here in Cotter back in 1993. So when our friend approached us with the opportunity to continue the renovation on the Church, we jumped at the chance and were definitely up for the adventure!

The ceilings in the lower portion (where the bedrooms are) is lower - (around 90"), the ceilings in the sanctuary are 25'

There is plenty of parking across the street from the church in a large flat grassy area. You can easily come with boats, trailers, and many vehicles.

Where you’ll be

Cotter, Arkansas, United States

Cotter offers many activities for all sorts of lifestyles! The White River (1/2 mile from our front door) boasts year-round, world-class trout fishing, while the nearby Buffalo River offers small mouth fishing as well as other great species. The Big Spring Park in Cotter offers walking, running, and biking trails, a beautiful spring with a large rope swing where the heat of summer can be melted away by one quick leap! The Bull Shoals Lake (15 minutes away) offers world-class fishing and some of the most majestic views of the Ozarks that many photographers come from all over to capture! Norfolk Lake (20 minutes away) offers similar amenities as the Bull Shoals.
If fishing or outdoors is not your niche, worry not! The Twin Lakes area offers two movie theatres, an entertainment district in the heart of Mountain Home, a plethora of antique shops, fine dining, and excellent shopping!
We have enjoyed renovating another one of Cotter's Historic Buildings and bringing new life to a truly wonderful town. Search social media for the renovation path of #potterblock and other spaces we have taken on to see what the space looked like when it became our home and you will see the passion and love that was truly put into your experience.

We are a married couple that loves to travel! We recently transitioned from the Army after an incredible 23 year career and we made our way back home to the community that we love! We purchased a nearly 100 year old historic building in our hometown and completed a full renovation of the space to call it our home! We then opened two apartments in our home as vacation rentals in the small town of Cotter, Arkansas. The trout fishing and outdoor activities are plentiful in this wonderland! We didn't stop there and purchased a few more properties in the area including a large historic church and are in the middle of a full renovation with this as well! You can see what we have been up to by checking out PotterBlock and CotterDowntownChurch on the web! We would love to host you in our homes and show you how awesome our town is!
