iris's Flat is a spacious, extremely stylish and sophisticated apartment located in the heart of Trastevere. Owned by Iris, an Israeli fashion designer who travels the world for inspiration for her designs about six months of the year, the apartment is often used as a showroom for clothing, jewelry, and ceramics collections. While Iris is away, she rents her place out to guests with the help of friend and neighbor Piera, who lives right around the corner; Piera is very friendly and helpful, happy to be on hand if guests need anything.
Iris has made sure that everything in the apartment is of the highest quality: all kitchen utensils are handmade Japanese ceramic; all towels are hand-woven fabrics; all curtains are silk; and so on. As she says, "you won't find any plastic pasta drainers here." The living room is the centerpiece of the apartment; it's huge and decorated with an international vibe (as is the rest of the apartment), with interesting furniture and decorative pieces from her many travels. The bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, and in the living room are three portable mattresses that can be made up and put on the floor of the living room in case of a third or fourth guest. The extremely well-stocked kitchen is on the small side but still spacious enough to easily cook, and there is a small table by the window which serves as a "breakfast nook". The cave-like bathroom, which has no windows, is decorated in a way that reminds me of a Turkish hammam, and the bathtub is huge, perfect for a long, luxurious bath pretending you are at a chic spa!
Guests also have access to the large rooftop terrace of the building, where there is a table, chairs, and benches so you take in some sun while reading a book, having breakfast, a glass of wine, etc; laundry can also be hung up there to dry.
Iris's place is located on Via Manara in Trastevere, just near San Cosimato, the bustling open morning market of Trastevere. Trastevere is well-connected by bus and tram, so it's easy to get around the rest of the city, and you can walk to other parts of the historic center of Rome from there (Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, etc).
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Iris' beautiful place. It was like being in a bubble of beauty and calm in the middle of the city. It felt quite magical. We couldn't have asked for a more flexible and helpful approach from Iris on booking and her friend on arrival. The apartment was pristine, had everything you needed and more. Iris had kindly left a guidebook, tips and notes on good places to eat and shop. The bedroom was cozy, living room huge and kitchen (bigger than it looks) a lovely place to sit with the window open contemplating your day of adventures. With regards to location, it was easy to walk to all the top sights. We didn't use public transport once. The area where the apartment is is probably my favorite part of the city and is surrounded by cosy restaurants with great food. I have been back a day and want to go back already. I would 100 per cent recommend this wonderful apartment to my friends. Thank you for sharing your joy of having such an amazing home with others through air b n b.
An absolute gem in the heart of Trastevere. Located a three minute walk from the main square. The pictures do not do it justice. The apartment is quite dark as a result of all the windows facing on an internal courtyard. This has the benefit of making sure that the apartment is very quiet. There are lots of lights and lamps around, creating a really warm and cosy feeling in such a large space. Excellent Wifi, Kitchen is small, but very well stocked. Beautifully designed spaces with lots of interesting art pieces. Iris was very helpful from start to finish and I would highly recommend this apartment
Our recent 6 day visit to Rome was immensely enhanced by staying in Iris' apartment in Trastevere. It is very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated in an utterly unique style. We enjoyed every minute of our stay there.
The location was very convenient that we explored Trastevere on foot, and it was a shot ride to every famous spot in central Rome. Shops and restaurants are plenty on the doorstep, and we tried a few of Iris' recommendations with great success.
The communication with Iris was very smooth, and although we did not get a chance to see Iris in person, her lovely friend, Piera, welcomed us on arrival and explained how things work in the apartment. She was a phone away if we needed any help.
Our overall experience was very positive, and we highly recommend Iris' place to anyone.
Thank you, Iris, very much for letting us stay in your apartment!
Iris' apartment is absolutely gorgeous! Massive ceilings and lovely Moroccan furnishings and knick-knacks. Safe and secure apartment block. Quiet too. It was great for us as we were a couple and ate out every day, but there's no dining table so not so great if you want to entertain.
Fab location in Trastevere, lots of restaurants and bars nearby, and you are about 20 min walk into Monti for fun nightlife and 20 mins into the central area for touristy stuff. We walked everywhere (except for Pigneto!).
I'm a traveler, a designer, a curios one that constantly changes her destinations, and that's when you get the opportunity to stay in my place ... the rest is in the house description
