About This Listing
iris's Flat is a spacious, extremely stylish and sophisticated apartment located in the heart of Trastevere. Owned by Iris, an Israeli fashion designer who travels the world for inspiration for her designs about six months of the year, the apartment is often used as a showroom for clothing, jewelry, and ceramics collections. While Iris is away, she rents her place out to guests with the help of friend and neighbor Piera, who lives right around the corner; Piera is very friendly and helpful, happy to be on hand if guests need anything.
Iris has made sure that everything in the apartment is of the highest quality: all kitchen utensils are handmade Japanese ceramic; all towels are hand-woven fabrics; all curtains are silk; and so on. As she says, "you won't find any plastic pasta drainers here." The living room is the centerpiece of the apartment; it's huge and decorated with an international vibe (as is the rest of the apartment), with interesting furniture and decorative pieces from her many travels. The bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed, and in the living room are three portable mattresses that can be made up and put on the floor of the living room in case of a third or fourth guest. The extremely well-stocked kitchen is on the small side but still spacious enough to easily cook, and there is a small table by the window which serves as a "breakfast nook". The cave-like bathroom, which has no windows, is decorated in a way that reminds me of a Turkish hammam, and the bathtub is huge, perfect for a long, luxurious bath pretending you are at a chic spa!
Guests also have access to the large rooftop terrace of the building, where there is a table, chairs, and benches so you take in some sun while reading a book, having breakfast, a glass of wine, etc; laundry can also be hung up there to dry.
Iris's place is located on Via Manara in Trastevere, just near San Cosimato, the bustling open morning market of Trastevere. Trastevere is well-connected by bus and tram, so it's easy to get around the rest of the city, and you can walk to other parts of the historic center of Rome from there (Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona, etc).
We loved the apartment (scores 9/10)! One of the best features is the location. Trastevere is really cool. The adjacent street has a great charcuterie shop, several nice places for breakfast and reasonably priced pizza restaurants. It is a lively but relaxed area. The apartment is quite close to lots of the sights of the city - easy walking to Campo di Fiori, Piazza di Campagnlio and Circus Maximus.
Another attraction is the apartment itself. Cool and spacious for a one bed apartment though a bit dark. There are so many beautiful and carefully chosen objects from around the world and the decor is quirky but practical. It is a haven to return to after a long day of walking around Rome.
Had the best time in Iris a flat. It is a beautiful place and very well located. The area is bustling with things to do. Absolutely loved everything about the place and Iris even compiled a little guide of cool places to eat in the area. She was also really helpful in providing details. My first air Bnb experience and it definitely made me want to come back!
This was a great experience, and a fabulous flat. Communication with Iris before hand was absolutely stress-free and timely, and talking to and meeting with Piera in Rome was equally easy - she is swift, friendly and nice. The location in the Trastevere neighbourhood is lovely, with cafés, restaurants and a market around the corner. The flat is in an internal yard, so what is lacks in light and view, it gets back tenfold in tranquility. It is really a silent haven to retreat in from the busy day. The high ceilings and beautiful furnishing adds to the feeling, and the Morrocan tadelakt bathroom is a wonder. It says that the flat sleeps 5, please note that even though big, there are no doors, and only 1 bedroom - so that means a crowded living room that you have to pass to get to the kitchen. Also the extra mattresses supplied are very narrow and hard. We were two friends traveling together, and the one getting the bedroom had an experience of a quite different standard - so this place is really best suited for a couple to someone sharing the bedroom and the double bed there. I would really like to live here again when going back to Rome - it is a place of beauty and tranquility.
My husband and I just had a lovely week at this apartment. Iris is very easy to deal with and always responded quickly to any questions we had. The Rome contact Piera was very helpful and explained everything from directions to how to use the appliances.
This apartment has an excellent location in a wonderful neighborhood full of cafes and shops - best place to be for afternoon drinks or a romantic dinner. All major sights are within a 30 to 50 minute walk in all directions. Place is good for 2 people -kitchen is well set up for gourmet cooking. Bed was comfortable and decor was unique.
The only complaint I have is that there are no windows facing the wonderful neighborhood - only windows facing an internal courtyard. There is never sun shining in- which I love. We tried not to dwell on this since we were outdoors most of the time. The roof access is just a utility area without a view so that was not a solution to the lack of light.
Although I didn't get to meet Iris but we were well taken by her firend, Piera. The apartment location is superb with many great restaurants around recommended by Iris. We basically had all our meals around the apartments. The pictures on Airbnb didn't justify the actual apartment in term of size and decoration! I would strongly recommend this apartment if you are travelling to Rome.
Iris' flat is located in the beautiful area of Trastevere. The neighbourhood has a nice atmosphere, and you can walk to the town centre of Rome. Iris gave me useful instructions to find the way, and her friend Piera helped me with the keys. The flat is big and cool, the only thing I missed was a view out on the streets. I had a great time there.
We had an absolutely wonderful time in Iris' beautiful place. It was like being in a bubble of beauty and calm in the middle of the city. It felt quite magical. We couldn't have asked for a more flexible and helpful approach from Iris on booking and her friend on arrival. The apartment was pristine, had everything you needed and more. Iris had kindly left a guidebook, tips and notes on good places to eat and shop. The bedroom was cozy, living room huge and kitchen (bigger than it looks) a lovely place to sit with the window open contemplating your day of adventures. With regards to location, it was easy to walk to all the top sights. We didn't use public transport once. The area where the apartment is is probably my favorite part of the city and is surrounded by cosy restaurants with great food. I have been back a day and want to go back already. I would 100 per cent recommend this wonderful apartment to my friends. Thank you for sharing your joy of having such an amazing home with others through air b n b.
