The Space

This is a modern light filled apartment on the 3rd (top) storey of the building and it is reached by stairs. It is only a short walk to the CBD and around the corner from the Royal Botanic Gardens and parklands. There are galleries, concert halls and theatres close by. A short walk across the parkland will bring you to the MCG, the Tennis Centre and other sporting venues on Swan St.

There is plenty of public transport - trams and buses on St Kilda Road; more trams on Clarendon St and Sturt St. Flinders St station is a ten minute walk from the apartment and you can catch a train from there to anywhere in Melbourne. South Melbourne Market and Clarendon St is the local shopping centre. When you first arrive and need a few supplies there is the IGA supermarket across the street, a two minute walk. The cafes, shops and galleries at Federation Square and the vibrant life of Southgate is just a short walk from home.
The apartment is on two levels. The lower level comprises - a large open plan lounge/dining room which has a wide west facing balcony; a modern fully equipped kitchen which overlooks the living room; two bedrooms, both with built in robes.
One has a queen size bed. The other is furnished as a study but can be used as a bedroom because there is a double sofa bed. This room also has a balcony.
The bathroom has a shower over the bath, a separate toilet and a laundry behind bifold doors.

The upper level comprises a huge master bedroom and full ensuite.

The apartment is carpeted throughout with tiled floors in the kitchen and bathrooms.
A reserved covered parking space is available in the carpark beneath the building. There is also a parking permit available for on street parking for one car. For residents use there is a tennis court, outdoor heated swimming pool, fully equipped gym, pleasant gardens and barbecue area.

The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with everything you would need for cooking and dining. Fresh linen is provided and beds will be made ready for you. Gas, electricity and water bills are included as well as high speed internet.

Although this apartment will accommodate six people it would best suit a smaller number of people who will have plenty of space for work and relaxation. It is also perfect for entertaining but we do ask no parties as this causes a disturbance to neighbours.
The price of the apartment applies to up to two guests. For extra guests there is a charge of $20 per person per night.
We do ask guests to check in by 8pm at the latest. We do not live near the property and our agent is unable to meet people after 8 o'clock at night. If you have friends or relations in Melbourne we are happy to make arrangements with you for them to pick up keys etc on your behalf.

  • My colleague and I had to be in Melbourne for a month-long work trip, and in looking for an accommodation, we had specific needs - I needed space and my colleague, convenience and comfort are key.
    Marian's apartment has definitely lived up to our needs, and more. Her apartment is very clean, spacious and importantly made us both feel right at home. The apartment is well-equipped and seriously, there is nothing to fault!
    Grocery store and pharmacy are just 5 mins walk away and the apartment is a walking distance to Flinders Railway Station. As I run, I was delighted to find the Botanical Garden just a street away!
    Communication between Marian and Vera from the beginning to end was very smooth.
    The apartment has served us so well throughout our stay that we were left heavy hearted when it was time for us to go back home.

  • I could not recommend this property or host any higher!
    Marion is wonderful to deal with and the apartment was amazing. We stayed here as a family and it had everything you could wish for. The location was incredible and the area safe and friendly.
    If we could stay here every time we visited Melbourne we would!!

  • Marian was an excellent host and the apartment was great. Marian contacted me before I arrived and gave clear instructions for everything we needed. When there was something we needed fixed (the smoke alarm became faulty while we were staying) Marian was very good and did everything she could to get it fixed as quickly as possible. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped - we had everything we needed in the kitchen etc.

  • This was the second time we've stayed at Marian and Alan's apartment, spending a month each time. If anything, we enjoyed our stay even more than last year! We love the apartment's location - an easy walk to the CBD, the river and the parks - and particularly like the South Melbourne neighbourhood. We really felt like locals this time, going back to our favourite cafes (of which South Melbourne has many) and discovering new ones. We hired bikes for the month (from Rentabike in Federation Square), dropped in to yin yoga classes (at Power Living South Melbourne) and rollerbladed (in Albert Park, with a coffee after at MART 130).

    The apartment itself is great too. We were working while in Melbourne and the apartment has a perfect set-up for work, with a dedicated study / office and excellent wifi. It's light and spacious, with east and west-facing balconies, and the kitchen is well-equipped for eating in. Great BBQ too.

    Finally, Marian and Alan are absolutely lovely, and very good to deal with. Thank you both for another great stay. We will be back!

  • We found this unit to be very nice. It suited our needs perfectly. It has a great location and Marian, our host, was very helpful in getting us settled. I would certianly stay in this location and apartment again!

  • We enjoyed staying for 8 nights in January. Kids loved the swimming pool after each day's sightseeing. Also enjoyed tennis with the supplied racquets and balls. As a family of 6 we really appreciated having a big lounge room and that the apartment was well sound-proofed. Self-catering was easy with the well-equipped kitchen and supermarket across the road. We were grateful for the parking options for our car and for the Melbourne street directory in the room. Marilyn and Alan were very hospitable. A cooler bag/picnic set has been added following a request in a review. The location was safe and handy and provided a nice view of city lights.

  • We had an excellent 10 day stay over Christmas at Marian's lovely and centrally located apartment. Stunning views of the city from the balcony , it was ideal for our family of 5 as we had 3 double bedrooms and 2 lovely bathrooms , excellent air conditioning, balcony, washing machine , hair drier, etc and use of a small swimming pool and gym. We found it well located for all the sites - only 15 minutes walk from Federation Square. We were particularly impressed with the food market at South Melbourne , also walkable in 15 minutes, but relied on the well stocked grocery shop and liquor store open until midnight across the road. The South Bank area was quiet, leafy and safe for walking around in the evening when returning home. We enjoyed having wi- fi access so we could book trips and tours easily as well as order taxis online.
    We found the apartment supplied everything we needed although a cool bag or box might have been useful for picnic trips.
    This was our first experience of using airbnb and a very positive one so we hope to repeat the experience.
    Marian was excellent at keeping in touch with is and supplied lots of useful information, guide books etc in the apartment.

  • We travelled with a friend to attend The Ring and were delighted with this comfortable apartment. It provided everything that we needed and was so handy to an excellent supermarket and we had an easy walk each evening to the opera. We highly recommend Marian as a host and this lovely apartment.
