NEWLY RENOVATED! Light-filled, minimalist 120m2 duplex apartment in an old barn. Cosy, modern chalet style with lots of wood and traditional touches. Perfect for families!

2 bedrooms with 6 beds that can be configured as singles or doubles. Fully equipped kitchen with all major appliances and a large fridge freezer.

Stunning views of the mountains from 2 large south facing balconies.

The chalet is a 10-minute walk from the village with its train station, large supermarket and services.

The space
We recently renovated this apartment in and so everything is new! We think it's perfect for a family (or even 2) as the first bedroom is large enough for a baby bed (ask us if you need one!) and the top room can be configured with double and /or single beds. Both bathrooms have baths in them for younger children and we can supply highchairs as required.

We live just across the road where we run Le Vieux Chalet* (see separate listing) and so are usually on hand to welcome you and help you during your stay.

For other/ larger apartments, see our other listings in the same building. Or add on the studio as an extra bedroom!

*The Vieux Chalet has a jacuzzi and wood-fired sauna and indoor and outdoor spaces for kids to play in. We do our best to make these available to apartment guests BUT use of these facilities CANNOT be guaranteed. The Vieux Chalet is rented for events/ retreats/ camps/ seminars etc and so sharing the facilities is not always possible.

Where you’ll be

Château-d’Œx, Vaud, Switzerland

This is one of the prettiest, most authentic and yet easily accessible corners of the Swiss Alps. Here you'll find traditional chalets, field of grazing cows and a large network of trails that are perfect for all levels of hikers and bikers. The apartment itself is in a renovated barn on the outskirts of the village in a quiet residential area. Footpaths leave in every direction and the trail in the forest along the river is a good place for an easy, child-friendly walk or bike. A 10 minute walk takes you to the village centre where there is a selection of small shops, bakeries, cafes and restaurants and supermarkets. The village has a sports centre, football pitch, tennis courts, bowling alley, ice rink (winter), cinema, riding stables, crazy golf and hospital. There are numerous local festivals and events year round.

The train connects Château-d'Oex to the Gstaad Mountain Rides domain. Gstaad is a pretty pedestrian village - treat yourself to a drink or a spa afternoon in one of the 5-star hotels or go to Charlie's coffee shop to see if you can spot a celebrity ;-)

Originally from the UK, I moved to Switzerland 12 years ago. I now have a lovely Swiss other half (André - it might be him who welcomes you!) and two children and can't imagine living anywhere else! The Vieux Chalet has belonged to André's family for several generations and used to be run by his parents as a girl's finishing school. We now run it as accommodation for groups - retreats, seminars, events - and take BnB clients the rest of the time. We've just finished renovating the old barn over the road and so now we have 4 gorgeous apartments and a studio for rent too. We LOVE living in the mountains and are happy to share our knowledge of the area and all it has to offer with the guests that stay here. As a couple with young children we can also advise on the best places to go with kids. Looking forward to hearing from you!
