NEWLY RENOVATED light-filled, minimalist 80m2 apartment in an old barn. Simple, cosy modern chalet style with lots of wood and traditional touches. Perfect for families!

2 bedrooms with 6 beds that can be configured as singles or doubles. Fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge freezer.

Stunning views from the large balcony over the village and surrounding mountains.

The chalet is a 10-minute walk from the village with its train station, large supermarket and services.

The space
We finished renovating this apartment in 2020 and so everything is new! We think the apartment would be great for 1 or 2 families as the master bedroom has space for a baby bed (ask us if you need one!) and the second bedroom sleeps 4 in singles or doubles.

We live just across the road where we run Le Vieux Chalet* (see separate listing) and so are usually on hand to help you during your stay.

If you need us to put a travel cot or a highchair in the apartment for your stay, let us know!

For a larger apartment, see our other listings in the same building.

*The Vieux Chalet has a spa area with jacuzzi and wood-fired sauna. We do our best to make this available to apartment guests but this cannot be guaranteed. The Vieux Chalet is rented year-round for events/ retreats/ camps/ seminars etc and so sharing the facilities is not always possible.

Other things to note
This apartment is on the ground floor. There are two small steps to the main entrance.
The apartment has a Nespresso capsule machine, a 6 person Bialetti moka pot and a French press coffee maker.
We provide bin bags, dishcloths, washing up liquid, tea towels and hand soap.
There is also salt, pepper, plastic wrap, foil and greaseproof paper in the kitchen.
The apartment has equipment for making fondue and raclette.
We provide some tabs for the dishwasher - enough for a weekend stay - but if you are coming for a week you might need more ;-)

FAMILIES: We have travel cots and highchairs available - let us know if you need these items putting in the apartment for your stay. We also have a backpack-style child carrier for hiking that you can borrow while you are here. We have two children ourselves (aged 10 and 7) so we can advise you on age appropriate hikes and activities in the local area!

Neighborhood highlights

The apartment is on the outskirts of the village in a quiet residential area. There is a large network of hiking trails in every direction and the trail in the forest along the river is a good place for an easy, child-friendly walk or bike. A 10 minute walk takes you to the village centre where there is a selection of small shops, bakeries, cafes and restaurants and a large Coop supermarket. The village has a sports centre, football pitch, tennis courts, bowling alley, ice rink (winter), cinema, riding stables, crazy golf and hospital. There are numerous local festivals and events year round.

The train connects Château-d'Oex to the Gstaad Mountain Rides domain. Present your skipass to travel free of charge between the different mountains. Gstaad is a pretty pedestrian village - treat yourself to a drink or a spa afternoon in one of the 5-star hotels or go to Charlie's coffee shop to see if you can spot a celebrity ;-)

Originally from the UK, I moved to Switzerland 18 years ago. I now can't imagine living anywhere else! Myself, my partner André and our 2 children LOVE living in the mountains and are happy to share our knowledge of the area and all it has to offer with the guests that stay here. We can also advise on the best places to go with kids. Looking forward to hearing from you!
