At Casa Lenita, your guestroom offers your own bath,a community terrace with trees and plants, comfy furniture, privacy and tranquility. We share the street entrance, but your space is upstairs and separate. Stairs to the azotea provide 360 views of the Parroquia and surrounding hills, church domes and gorgeous star-filled night skies.

Coffee, tea, fruit available, and coffee maker is in your room. Traditional boveda ceiling, computer desk, lots of windows, you just might never want to leave. But leave you must, if you want to see San Miguel and it's shops, galleries, museums, jardines, cobblestone streets, parades, dancers, musicians, all the things that make this the best destination in colonial Mexico.

This (email hidden)ly but safe neighborhood in Colonia Guadalupe, where kids play in the street and everyone greets you with a smile. Recently we were officially designated as The Guadalupe Arts District, and you will find beautiful colorful murals on the walls as you stroll around the streets. If you like, I can book you a full or half day tour of the studios of our artists in this Arts District. I will also find you a workshop or class to fit your needs, be they art, yoga, or meditation. Interaction with Guests

Sometimes I'm here, sometimes not. We can be in touch before your arrival so that if I'm traveling, you have a go-to person for all your needs. if I'm here, we can go for a walkabout to show you the hood.

The Neighborhood

My neighborhood, Colonia Guadalupe, has been officially designated as The Arts District. This means there is a large number of artists living and working here, there are street murals and street festivals happening and changing the face and feeling of the community. And last but not least, there is an art store, an organic market and restaurant, and other necessities like hardware stores, tiendas for any kinds of groceries, and we're close to the galleries and stores in the Fabrica Aurora.

Getting around

Urban bus stops 2 blocks from my house, taxis easy to find. First class bus terminal for other cities in Mexico is about a mile away. From airports, you can come to San Miguel via this terminal, on either ETN or Primera Plus, both luxury buses. Or, you can schedule an airport shuttle with BajioGo, whether you fly into Mexico City, Leon, or Queretaro.

  • My husband and I stayed at Lena's casa for three days and really enjoyed our time there. It is located in a local neighbourhood about 10 minutes walk to Centro so great location. There was a tienda on one corner and a lavanderia around the other one, both of which we visited.

Lena is a gracious, helpful host who has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable.
Her house is beautifully decorated in bright colours and wonderful art work. She had fresh water, fruit, coffee and tea available in the room when we arrived and it was appreciated.

We stayed in the yellow room at the top of the house, both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless and beautifully decorated as well. The outdoor space was the same. It was quiet with the normal sounds of the neighbourhood and the church bells to welcome us. We would definitely recommend this AirBnB and we hope to return to spend more time in this interesting town.

  • Lena's house was unique and artfully decorated. We did not meet Lena during our stay, but her house reflected one of a true artist. We stayed at the golden room, decorated with bright and cheerful colors. The bed was comfortable and no detail was spared. From water, tea and fruit to welcome us, to even a hat and a shopping bag to take with us to our walks downtown (only about a 10 minute walk). The terraze was also bright and airy as well as beautiful and comfortable. The neighborhood had some impressive murals.

  • We stayed at both of Lena's rooms at her home/studio. Both rooms were really great! We loved being in the neighborhood and getting a taste of what it's like to live in San Miguel de Allende. Sitting out on the terrace was quite a pleasure to take a break during the day. The rooms are comfortable, and being surrounded by Lean's artworks was a joy. I hope we can make it back soon!

  • Casita Lena was a lovely place. I had the upstairs bedroom and availed myself of the kitchen to make myself breakfast. A real neighbourhood! A short walk from the Centro historical. Everything about Casita Lena was soulful! from her personal art collection to the tasteful decor. Hats off to Lena! Lena's staff were extremely friendly and attentive. San Miguel is an interesting place! especially for anglophones for whom there is much to do. I highly recommend Guanajuato as a side trip while you are in San Miguel. University town with more young people and more Spanish-speaking.

  • Lena was a wonderful host. She showed us around her place and explained everything in detail. She left information in our room about San Miguel with recommendations for restaurants and shops that were very useful. The room was very nice, clean, and the decoration was beautiful. The house is very well located just 10 minutes walk to downtown and 5 minutes to Via Organica (a very good organic restaurant). I will definitely stay at her place again.

  • This apartment is stunning. The photos here look very good but in person it's just fantastic. We don't understand how she can offer it at this price! This was one of the best places we have ever stayed anywhere in the world. On the practical side, the shower is very hot with good pressure. Having a washing machine and a terrace with a clothesline was a great convenience. San Miguel de Allende can get cold at night so there is a heater in the bedroom too.

We really appreciated staying in a non-touristy area of San Miguel de Allende. Lena's house is just minutes away from the center, but we were in a real neighbourhood, not trapped with other tourists.

Lena was such a warm, wonderful, and interesting host. We do wish we stayed longer so we could talk to her more. We left behind some chargers at Lena's house by accident and she offered to mail it back to us, it was so kind of her. We really hope to return some day!

  • This house is absolutely fantastic! Lena has created a world of art in a beautiful setting in a fantastic location. The shaded rooftop patio with a view of the parroquia is a perfect siesta spot and the beautiful domed ceiling in the bedroom made us feel like royalty on vacation. Lena's work is scattered throughout the house giving the spaces a personal feel, a sense of purpose, and a whimsical humor. We really liked the fact that the room we stayed in was a suite in its own part of the house entirely. It felt very private, yet the large glass doors that opened onto the interior courtyard made us feel as if the entire garden patio was there for us alone. The house is quirky, so if you are looking for conventional and boring, this may not be the spot for you. It is in the middle of a fun district of town populated with locals and artists, which does not necessarily get quiet at night, especially during festival time, which is all the time in San Miguel! We stayed in December, when it can get downright chilly at night. The space heater provided did an excellent job at keeping the bedroom warm, but we needed to move it to the bathroom in the morning to make showers more comfortable. San Miguel has a bit of a water shortage, and Lena does her part to pitch in. Water heaters are small, so no long American showers here. Speaking of water, we really appreciated the multitude of consistently filled fresh water jugs set around the house for use. We also made extensive use of the available WiFi, which is not quite accessible from the dome room, but was good and fast in the main part of the house. There is also a clothes washer available, which we made use of. We never felt we lacked for anything at Lena's! We loved the section of town, we loved Lena's company and helpful answers to all our questions, and we would gladly stay here again. In fact, we are looking forward to it!

  • A perfect fit for our stay in San Miguel de Allende! A short walk from a quiet location that has everything we could wish for. The accommodation was very clean and tastefully decorated. Our host, Lena was friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. Stay with Lena and you won't be disappointed!

  • Ten stars for Casa Lentia! I spent two weeks in this beautiful home. It is charming, clean, comfortable and in a great location. The best part of staying there was getting to know Lena, who is gracious, generous, and deeply knowledgeable about all things, both cultural and practical, in San Miguel, Mexico and beyond. May you be blessed with the experience of staying here as I was.

  • I stayed nearly two weeks with Lena and cannot say enough good things about how comfortable and convenient her place is, and how full of local charm and artistic touches, with everything I could have needed and wanted. Lena, herself, is an extraordinary host--so warm and generous and thoughtful. Hers is a happy home and she exudes well-being. I was glad to have a host who was American, yet who knew her way fully around town. I was traveling solo and have some health issues, and I don't speak Spanish, so this was a great reassurance to me. Her location in SMA's art district (lots of cool murals around, yet otherwise, a real neighborhood feel, and not saturated with tourists) and just around the corner from the organic market/restaurant (where I could quickly pop in for a snack or drink or meal, and know it would be clean and good) ... was really great.

Artist in (my own) Residence
About
Artist for many years, expat from Santa Fe, N.M. living full time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I'm an easy guest and some people say a great host. I love meeting new people from all over the world. I don't love big groups, don't party, non-smoker, no drugs, nice radical grandmotherly cosmic space-explorer artist type. I'm happy to show you my San Miguel if you are new to the scene. Sagittarian, feminist, flexitarian, borderline Buddhist / spiritual being just being here now, I love galleries, museums, cultural experiences of any kind. I know the art scene in San Miguel and will happily give you a tour of our neighborhood, the newly designated Arts District of Colonia Guadalupe. My rooms are like your own private artist residencies, so come and explore, create, let San Miguel inspire you. "All art, all the time!"
