About this listing
great flat on the artistic private passeig where artist 'miro' was born. The 18th century french windows and balcony could be the high point for most people though the rest of the house is artistic and unique. We are sure you will love our home :)
Situated on a rare private street In the heart of 'el gotico' where the artist 'Miro' was born, this rare 19th century apartment is full of individual pieces and it is the perfect place to spend your vacation in Barcelona. The balcony is charming and a great place to enjoy morning breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening. There are 2 large double bedrooms a spacious kitchen; there is also bathroom and a lovely living/balcony area.
This 75m2 space is perfect for up to 6 people. There is a optional extra bed for up to 6 people that can be set up in the master bedroom or the living area. The early 19th century windows spanning the length of the entire flat are also very unique.
There is a free fast Internet access within the flat and the flat is in the middle of the city whilst being on a private street making it not so loud compared to the rest of this lively city, there are also 2 fans for the summer and 2 portable heaters for the winter :)
The gotic area is one of the oldest areas in Barcelona, the architecture is stunning and the restaurants and bars are of top quality, you can even walk to the beach in 10 mins. There are 2 local metro stations within 5 mins walk from the flat and to grab a taxi would take a matter of seconds making it easy to travel around. If you have any further questions we would be happy to help and also please ask us to send over our list of local tips for restaurants and bars etc.. it has been made with our years of knowledge of living in Barcelona for the last decade.
Thanks for reading and we are sure you will love our beautiful home.
Just enjoy yourself and respect the neighbors who live there full time :)
We spent 2 nights at Ananda's place with my boyfriend and 2 friends of mine and we were really happy with our stay in Barcelona. The apartment is very well located in the center of the gothical area. Besides, the apartment is charming and spacious! Ananda has been a great host, it has been easy to communicate with her before and during our stay. She was also flexible and arrange our check-in and check-out time based on our constraints and give to us a huge list of recommended places in Barcelona. Highly recommended!
My friend and I stayed in this apartment. We were both very disappointed in the quality for the apartment and in hindsight we felt we paid well over the odds for what we got.
The setting of the apt is lovely but the passage way is not private and not quiet. It was lovely to sit on the small balcony and enjoy a glass of cava before heading out to dinner but the downside of the windowed front on the living area and bedrooms was the night time echoing noise (even with ear plugs) - chatty late night & early morning locals and passers-by as well as the local authority street cleaning/passageway hosing.
The sofa looks a lot plumper in the pictures advertising the apt but sinks in the middle in reality.
The kitchen is not fully kitted out so don't assume you could cook here.
We initially thought the main light in the bathroom had blown, leaving only the shaving light over the hand-basin but the cleaner pointed out that this was the way it was. Lighting in general was poor but perhaps this was part of the charm.
We would have appreciated a second towel as only one smallish bath towel was left out per room along with a communal and very small hand towel in the bathroom.
We couldn't work one of the keys and mentioned this to the cleaner upon leaving - she showed us how to wriggle it so it would work. No doubt she would have shown us this trick had we arrived on time and met her but our train was delayed and we thankfully were able to pick the keys up in a local cafe
I'm not sure if Airbnb hosts are supposed to connect more with their guests, leave perhaps a welcoming bottle of water, a guide to where things were in the apartment or even a few maps or event guides for the city. We did however receive a list of eateries as we requested but while fabulous descriptions and tips about them were given no address were provided.
Richie and Ananda's apartment in the Gotic is awesome. The location in a quiet passage right in the middle of busy El Gotic is amazing. We loved the big open windows, but keep the curtains closed if you want privacy because the apartments in the courtyard are a close distance. The place was very spacious and as a family of 5 (children age 10, 7, 3) we found it very comfortable. The place has a definite artistic/laid back vibe to it, which we loved and appreciated. The check-in and check-out process were easy, as was any communication with Richie and Ananda. Over-all a cozy and comfortable home in an amazing location, well worth its value!! We loved it and would be happy to return one day. We strongly recommend for you to stay there!!
Excellent location, lots of space! Our stay was during an exceptionally hot time, so needing to keep the windows open made street noise a factor. If you like to stay out late, it won't be a problem. The furniture is showing it's age, but overall it is a great place!
Thank you Ananda and Richie for allowing myself and my 2 boys to stay in your apartment. It was perfect for us. We loved Barcelona and we were in a great spot to be able to enjoy the area. Enjoyed my coffee on the balcony each morning. Paul, Rocky, and Louis.
Stayed three nights and could not have asked for a better place to stay. There was plenty of space for four people, the location was ideal for food and was walking distance to the beach. Ananda was very kind, responsive and recommended a lot of delicious local places to eat and drink. Will definitely book again if back in Barcelona. We also had no problem with the wifi.
Let me start by saying this is a good location, but…
This review is for "Charming Balcony Flat in Gotico". (some review were for other properties) We were VERY disappointed from the moment we walked in. The flat seemed old and worn out and not very clean, The linens were marginally clean. Some of the furniture and lighting shown in the photographs had been removed. And it was very noisy, with traffic, music and loud conversation. The pull down blinds did not work properly and you look into the neighbors windows which are about 50 feet across from you. Only one light in the bathroom (showed 3 in the photo), there was a dirty comforter on the sofa to shore up the sagging middle, etc, etc, etc.
We left after one day and booked another much nicer, cheaper Airbnb close to Plaza Espana that was as advertised.
