This lovely and bright house is perfect for a little vacation and relaxation. Get a taste of living off the grid. While cellphone service is excellent and cable is ready, you feel like you're in a place that is ridiculously peaceful and picturesque.

I have had several visiting nurses stay here since it's close to New Haven yet safe and peaceful in the country.

We were very happy to sit by the lake and even take a swim. Clean water is a treat. There are many good places to eat nearby and we had a good time antique hunting.

I am a traveler nurse on a 13 week contract for Yale New Haven and Margie has been nothing but the best since I first arrived here in Guilford CT. She is understanding of my long shifts, takes care of my dog as if he is her own and sends me picks while at work of his fun days with her on the lake. She allows me access to anything she has to offer in her home and property. The lake is amazing for swimming and kyacking and the firepit is great for smores. She allows me to have guests over who all love her home as well. Located in the country, 30 minutes drive into New Haven, and 20 minutes to the water with hiking trails located throughout. Really there is so much to do. I am so excited that I found this place for the summer! This place is everything and more that you could hope for.

Rebecca is an easy roommate. Clean and quiet and anyone's dream roommate. She's right as this is the perfect retreat to decompress after a long hectic day of nursing. Both Rebecca and her dog take full advantage of everything this place has to offer.

Margie was so lovely! Very communicative, welcoming and full of information. She was particularly welcoming to our 8 year old, allowing her to play with and sleep with her very sweet pug, Olive. It made our stay so much more than we would have gotten in another setting. My girl is still talking about how much fun she had. We would stay with her again in a heartbeat!

My daughter, a friend, and I spent a night here on our way back from a visit to the NY Botanical Garden. What attracted me to the place was the location on the lake and it did not disappoint. From the house, we walked down a hill to a dock. We swam and kayaked and relaxed. We ate our picnic dinner by the lake and our host Margie kindly brought us a citronella candle and bug spray. The beds were comfortable and Margie was a welcoming host. We were greeted by Margie's 3 little pugs (or pug mixes) and a visiting Golden named Darcy. They were all friendly and sweet but I think it's best if you like dogs, which I do.

Margie, is one of the nicest people I've met while in CT. She was kind and thoughtful during my long term stay. And she is so accommodating to my crazy nurse shifts. ( by that I mean she would be mindful of her dogs when I had to sleep during the day to work night shifts). Her house is beautiful and inviting! I couldn't have asked for a better host. The bar is set high when you stay with her!

Our stay was terrific! The property was beautiful with a great view of the lake, a nice large deck, large lawn and water front access. The one bedroom was clean and private. Our host couldn't have been nicer. Margie was extremely helpful with information on the area and made us feel welcome. She was very friendly with our 4 year old son and seemed to genuinely connect with him and vice versa. She played ball with him in the yard and he had a fantastic time. We didn't want to leave!

This house was a central meeting place for 4 college friends coming from NJ and MA. I looked for something on the water and found Margie's spot. Her water is a beautiful lake, rather than the ocean (although the ocean isn't far.) The property is beautiful. The house was perfect. We kayaked, we swam, we biked, and we did a lot of sitting and relaxing on her wonderful porch with a view of the lake. Margie was a great hostess, offering us coffee, drinks, got the kayaks ready for us, put air in the bike tires for us, and sharing info about the area with us. The thing to know is that you are staying in Margie's house and she is living there too, (along with 3 cute pups.) She was super friendly and we all felt very comfortable there. She did her thing and we did ours. But unlike some other listings, you are living with the owner of the property when you are there. If you are like me, you will feel like you have a new friend by the end of your stay.

From NYC living in Connecticut. Retired.
I've always had friends in other countries and love learning about the world through them. Getting a true taste of a foreign culture is much easier through a native, so I try to visit them and let them show me around. Always out to make more friends though. Its disappointing when I go somewhere and don't know anyone.
My interests are cooking, checking out museums, galleries, good coffee shops, movies, cocktails, good wine, great food, beach, hiking, traveling, nice conversation, laugh out loud, a good time.
I like nice people, the rest is optional. (Mean people suck). Hang out with me for a few weeks and you will see the randomness of my friends, thus I think I enjoy most types of people. We can always learn something from everyone, so everyone is worth meeting. I don't like superficial people.
The more I grow up the more I realize how little I know. I'm a very sharing person and you will feel very welcome in my home.
