This a very nice, cozy and luminous flat in the heart of Barcelona´s Ciutat Vella, in the Raval district. It is in walking distance from Plaza Cataluña, Plaza Universidad and Sant Antoni market, which means that it has excellent connections with various metro, train and suburban rail lines, as well as buses and the aerobus (the bus that connects the air port with the city´s centre.). It is also 15 minutes walking distance from the port and less than half an hour walking distance from the actual beach.
The flat is 55 square meters. It can accommodate up to 4 persons since there is a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa couch in the living room. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine, a stove and an oven . A special thing about this particular flat are the relaxing views of the rooftops and the Tibidabo mountains from the windows.
The flat is decorated with loads of love and has a bohemian, artistic aura without losing its welcoming, informal feeling. I am an artist myself and I have tried to give the space a very special identity, where anyone can feel at home but also feel that they are locals, when taking a break from walking around and experiencing the pulse of this vibrant city. Now my little corner of the world can be yours as well. Let´s share it.
UPDATES: Great news! I had the windows of the flat changed. The new ones have double crystals which means that the flat is protected from external street noises and also from temperature changes. There is also a new and faster internet connection. I have updated the decoration also! There is a new, fabulous sofa, a lot of gorgeous plants, curtains and a lot of framed drawing son the walls. New pictures soon to be uploaded!
Important: The flat is on the 5th floor and there is no lift, something that is very common in buildings of European historical city centres. It has great views because of its heights, and a sense of airiness which is rare to find in an old crammed neighbourhood like El Raval. Most people do not have issues with this fact but it is good to know it if you have mobility problems or you are of a certain age.
My guests have access to the entire flat (apart from the storage room).
-All bedlinen and covers
- Free wi fi
-Washing machine, fridge, induction electric cooker, oven
-Speakers to connect your computer-ipod to
-Books and magazines
-Basic supplies in kitchen cupboard, i.e. salt, sugar, spices, good olive oil, vinegar
-Cleaning supplies, toilet paper
-Towels (upon special request)
-Electric hair straightener
-Maps of the city
Interaction with Guests
As a host, I will answer all your inquiries, even if we do not meet personally (I tend to travel a lot). I will give you directions, insider´s tips and give insider's tips about restaurants, bars, coffee shops, stores, public transport or charming urban corners and any other assistance about the flat, the city and your visit. I have a big network of friends that can be proven useful as well. I have been living in Barcelona for 11 years so I know the city very well
I am easily reachable via telephone, whatsapp, email or airbnb message to solve any issue that might come up.
When I am not in town, there is always a friend who can deal with any emergency that might need personal interference..
The Raval district is the most multicultural and hip neighbourhood of Barcelona. It is one of the 4 'hoods of the old town thus it has a charming medieval feeling, with narrow alleys, small squares and gothic buildings but it is also has modern landmarks as the spacious, green and refreshing La Rambla de Raval and buildings like MACBA or La Filmoteca. You can find smart cocktail bars, traditional bodegas, a huge variety of restaurants, great vintage shops for clothing, small items or furniture, open air markets quite often, bars with live music and most of all a lively, charming and authentic atmosphere of a real downtown district.
El Raval is not packed with tourists like other districts of the centre. There is almost no traffic as most of the streets that surround the flat are pedestrian ways. Important museums and cultural heritages such as MACBA, CCCB, Maritime Museum, Gaudi´s Palau Guell, Palau de la Vireina, La Boqueria and the gothic Hospital de Santa Creu are all located in the neighbourhood while other points of interest such as Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, the Church of Santa Maria del Mar, the Gothic Quarter, MNAC, Gaudi´s Casa Batlló and Ciutadella park are located within walking distance.
El Raval is also next to Sant Antoni, Poble Sec and Gotico, three of the most interesting neighbourhoods of the city.
The flat is in walking distance from Plaza Cataluña, Plaza Universidad and Sant Antoni market, which means that it has excellent connections with various metro, train and suburban rail lines, as well as buses and the aerobus (the bus that connects the air port with the city´s centre.). It is also 15 minutes walking distance from the port and less than half an hour walking distance from the actual beach.
There are also private parkings very close.
Other Things to Note
This flat is my personal residence, my refugee and the place where I do my writing and create my music and artwork. I rent it out from time to time so that I can be able to follow the artistic road that I have chosen, which is often long and winding, and share the results with the world. I am not a professional of the tourist industry disguised as a friendly host. I stay true to what Airbnb was all about the first place-providing a unique accommodation to travellers who long to experience something unique and escape from the usual tourist traps and the comfy but overprized and faceless hotel rooms. By choosing
Smoking is allowed in the flat but preferably at the window.
No parties are allowed neither excessive noise after 23.00, there are families living in the building and I want to respect them.
Evripids is a great host. The flat is very well located and comfortable. The walls of the flat are a contemporary art gallery. Recommend!
Thank you Martin!
And for those who do not speak German (me included, I had to ask for a friend to translate) here is a translation:
"Very authentic looking flat - with a lot of style, one feels right at home! Fast internet connection, central, perfect location - everything is within walking distance. The host is always reachable and has good tips for the city. The sheets were clean and fresh. We had a great time in bcn and we are definitely coming back!"
Superb contact with a very friendly host. Evripidis flat is very nice and welcoming. Strongly recommended!
If you looking to stay in a hotel styled BnB you will be disappointed because what you get here is a well loved and lived in flat. It has been decked out with a lot of thought and love with some interesting art work that will entertain you plus if you love cats you will feel right at home. If you are young and arty and want some nice tapas and bar from the bars in the same street than this is the place for you. Once you find the place it's very easy to get around and see the city by foot or rent a bike. If you are looking to see how a local lives and not just a normal hotel than this is a good place to stay.
Evrpidis has a very cute and homely flat. It is very well located in the very center of Barcelona, next to MACBA. I stayed there for a night and I felt like at home and I will definitely book again. Totally recommended!
Evripidis is a very good host, he was very quick in communicating with me and he was flexible with his check in and the check out.
His flat is in the heart of the city, in the multicultural El Raval, surrounded by places of historical or cultural interest and loads of smart shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.
The flat is very cosy with a lot of natural light and a nice view of the rooftops and the hills of Tibidabo. It certainly worth the stairs you have to climb! The decoration is full of intriguing details that tell you much about Evripidis' personality and art (he is a musician and an active member of Barcelona's alternative scene). Plants, posters, drawings, books, magazines, even a piano make you feel that Evripidis' home is your home.
My name is Evripidis. I come from Athens, Greece but I have been living in Barcelona for more than 11 years. I am a musician, illustrator, writer and dj. I enjoy music, literature, cinema, traveling, arts and a good party.
I am a devoted fan of indie pop, rock n' roll, northern soul, sixties beat and new wave music and my 3 favourite artists are The Velvet Underground, The Beach Boys and The Magnetic Fields. I have a soft tooth for Japanese, Corean, Vietnamese, Pakistani and of course Greek cuisine. My favourite movie of all times is Rosemary's Baby, my favourite book is Wuthering Heights and my favourite comic is Black Hole. I speak Greek, English and Spanish very fluently and I can defend myself in French after a glass of wine! I play the piano and sing. My plants are members of my family. And I got many of them.
I consider myself a friendly, communicative person who is always eager to meet new people, new cultures and new ways of thinking. I have an unconditional love for the Greek Cyclades Islands, New York and Istanbul. My mother has always pointed me out the importance of hospitality (she says it is part of our Greek heritage-look up Zeus Xenios, the God of Hospitality), thus my house has always been a space that is open for visitors, either close friends or friendly acquaintances. I love having guests and share points of view and good times. I am also very passionate about showing my visitors anything that I find interesting in my city. My close friends often point out that I should be a touristic guide.
