Words Room - Lofted single xl mattress (ladder to get up to bed) perfect for one (or two if you are very close!) in private furnished room with dresser, desk and chair.
Fabulously sunny living room (all windows! Southern exposure!) with tv, netflix, ps3, guitar, WIFI/ internet, a/c (though I prefer just having the windows open unless its hot- (I'm from Texas, so warm is normal), fully stocked kitchen. Feel free to hang here while you check email or gear up for the next adventure.
***There is another room in this loft available, larger with a full size bed, not lofted. If you would prefer this room, or want to book both rooms, lmk.
The room rate is for one person only. If you would like to share with one person, the nightly additional cost is $25/night, or $20/night for stays of 7 nights or more.****
The building is a huge loft warehouse experience full of artists/ musicians/ photographers/ etc types - so if you can't stand the possibility of a party/ band practicing down the hall, this place isn't for you. Not that it's like that every night, or even most nights. But it does happen, and it can get loud and smokey. There are often large parties in the building on the weekend. Audio-privacy in general does not exist here, so if the thought of hearing someone (or having someone hear you) bothers you, this probably won't be your cup of tea. Henry is also a doorbell/announcer, and he likes to tell everyone when someone enters, no matter what time it is. (I think it's a good thing) I also like to entertain here often. So, if you are the hippie/ artsy/ musical/ social type, this place is perfect. It's a brooklyn artist loft experience, a chill place to rest while visiting NYC.
The area is super up-and-coming, with fantastic places to eat (check out Roberta's NY Times Review), tons of street art in the area as well as (24hr) grocery stores, taco truck, sushi, ramen, thai, a ton of places really, galleries, music venues, shopping - (website hidden) morgan town or bushwick or east williamsburg.
If you are into street art, I can definitely recommend some good spots.
We're super close to the Morgan & Montrose L train stops- so its only 15min to get to union Square.
There's roof access with a gorgeous skyline view. Apartment comes with a handsome dog named Henry- he's a rescue shepherd/collie/malamute mix - and a all black shep/collie mix named Seamus!
I'm a 33 yr old artist/ assistant video editor/ photographer/freelancer and I've been in the area since 2008, so if you've got questions I can prob answer them.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR OWN WIFI CAPABLE COMPUTER - There's a computer with internet you can use (it's old though so you gotta sit by the box) as well as many hair appliances (blow dryer, straightener, curling iron) you are welcome to use.
Elevator is freight only- too much trouble for using regularly to the 2nd floor. Laundry in the building. And when I checked "parking included" that just means there's plenty of street parking- you'll have to move it on street cleaning days.
Towels & sheets incl, but you'll have to wash them yourself during your stay. Security deposit required, handled through airbnb.
Preference will be given to Airbnb clients with verified identities.
Wifi, Netflix, roof, skyline views, dvd library, ps3, living space, kitchen, tv, speakers, bathroom
I live here with my boyfriend and 2 dogs. We both freelance, so sometimes are around a lot, and sometimes are working a lot. When we're off, we like to hang out with the dogs, make art & music, podcast, watch tv, cook, eat, and talk. Guests interaction usually depends on how much we're working and how much time the guest spends with us. Some guests are only here to sleep, some stay for months and then come back to visit, so it really depends. We're pretty flexible. I will say this is more like you're staying with a friend or cousin than staying in a hotel - it's a pretty relaxed environment.
Bushwick, Brooklyn. Industrial warehouses turned into artists lofts fill the area, with some of the best food anywhere. Street art everywhere, with great people watching.
yes- 5 min away from Montrose or Morgan stops on the L train
Two awesome but hairy dogs!
Slam the door - otherwise it doesn't lock. Everyone cleans up after themselves (dishes, whatever). Please recycle (paper, plastic, glass, and metal under the sink) and don't waste energy- turn off lights, a/c, fans, everything if you aren't in. Normal stuff.
Jenaveve and Gene (whom I probably terribly misspelled, sorry man!) were great hosts! We had a wonderful stay, could ask for everything and they gave us very good tipps. Sitting together with them was always a lot of fun, we could talk about everything and their dogs are just so lovely! Probably the best educated and most adorable dogs I know - and that means a lot since I am rather a "cat person". Thanks for this wonderful start into my spouse's and mine time in the States!! Hope to meet you again, guys!!
Thank you for your hospitality hope to come back soon.Take care and have a great year-end party.
I was only stopping by in NY for a couple of days and was looking to stay at a familiar place, and was more than happy to experience the same hospitality at Jenaveve's that I got to enjoy last time I visited her. It's always a blast!
My stay was very nice and I was comfortable in the room. The Brooklyn neighborhood then not have to comment. The place breathes street art and everything is very close.
I had a great stay, Jenaveve was friendly and helpful. The apartment is really well connected and there are some awesome restaurants and art shows in the neighbourhood.

I'm from Texas originally. I've been in NYC since summer of 2005. I'm into art & particularly the street art in the area. Super love my dog. Friends come by to hang, I like to go out to dinner or music or whatev.
