You are always welcomed with treats to make you feel at home! The property is on 4.0 acres, secluded, sitting on a hilltop surrounded by oak trees. We designed and built the guest house (2nd floor) with our visiting family and friends in mind. The tall ceilings, big beautiful windows, and oversized french doors allow lots of natural light in. The floors are solid maple. There is a full kitchen, a walk in closet, a large shower, and balcony so you can enjoy dining al fresco. The furniture inside and outside are beautiful and comfortable.
WE live on the property about 40 feet away from the guest house. We are available if you need assistance. We have an outdoor exercise atrium and kayaks you may use if we are not using them!
We typically do our grocery shopping at the Trader Joe's because they have everything we need on a daily basis. It is about 8 miles away, so you need a car!!!
We are in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area, about 5 miles Pacific Coast Highway, Zuma Beach, and Westward beach. It is a great outdoorsy and nature-full area. The "Backbone" trail and mountain bike trails are all within walking/riding distance.
There are great restaurants and wine tasting rooms nearby. Calamigos Ranch & Conference Center is within walking distance. Malibu & Vine Tasting has very nice live music and outdoor events, the Cornell Winery Tasting Room and Sip Tasting are all within a 10 minute drive!
Outdoor atrium with excercise equipment

The flat is beautifully decorated so we hope that you treat the facilities with as much care as we have put into it. Absolutely NO smoking inside or outside. We live in an oak tree woodland (sensitively environmental area) and have an incredibly great tasting water from our well. We recycle!
Lilly and her husband were fantastic hosts! We felt both welcomed, and left to our privacy. If anything came up, we reached Lilly by phone and had it resolved super-quick. We especially appreciated the large shower and walk-in closet. Lilly's place was a great jumping-off point for us if we wanted to get to Malibu, or stay in the Conejo Valley. Our only regret was missing "goodbye cocktails" our last weekend in town. We will absolutely check on the availability of this property whenever we need to visit the area. Next time, we're taking out the kayaks!
This place is phenomenal! The pictures truly don't do justice to this guest house. After staying eight long days in San Francisco and eating out for every meal it was great to relax somewhere that I could cook my own food. The place is designed beautifully with a memory foam bed and a full kitchen with every utensil you could need to cook a meal.
Upon arrival Lilly put a bottle of wine, flowers, cheese, crackers, and fruit in the guest house for us! She also had the basics for cooking anything for example butter, oil, spices, dressings, etc. This was only our second airbnb trip so we brought everything possible (shampoo, conditioner, q-tips, etc.) but she actually had all that stuff there for us to use as well.
We did spend a lot of time inside just watching tv because the weather wasn't great so we did realize there aren't a whole lot of channel options. But there is a dvd player so we rented some dvd's from the red box at a local grocery store. The phone service is a bit scattered but we were on vacation so we weren't too worried about it.
This place is great and Lilly and Tarek are amazing hosts as well. Lilly actually made extra dessert one night for us and left it on our porch. The guesthouse is clean, modern, and comfortable!

Tarek and Lilly were welcoming and warm hosts and their guesthouse is a beautiful Malibu bargain. We spent four relaxing nights there and absolutely loved it.
The house is just a lovely ten-minute drive down the canyon to the Pacific Coast Highway and because it's towards the north side of Malibu, it's easy to avoid traffic when you head to some of California's most beautiful beaches. It's a breeze to get to Zuma, Point Dume, Broad Beach, Leo Cabrillo and El Matador. Each beach has a different character; we explored one or two a day.
If it's not too hot, there are also incredible hiking trails all around the canyon and Malibu Creek Park is an easy 15 minute drive away -- there's a nice little hike there that leads to a sweet swimming hole.
We split our time between the beach and hills and we found everything else we needed down at the Pavillions shopping center on the PCH. There's a decent supermarket, a coffee shop/bookstore and Sunlife Organics is a great place for smoothies. We also had a nice dinner at Ollie's Duck and Dive.
We were in town for a wedding at Calamigos, a conference center that's just across the road from the house. So while all of the other guests braved LA traffic to get the event, we just crossed the street.
Tarek and Lilly provided a lovely welcome basket with fruit, cheese, crackers and scones and stocked the fridge with eggs and milk. The kitchen is well equipped the cupboards contain pasta, sauces and spices.
The guesthouse is appointed like a posh studio hotel room down to plush cotton bathrobes in the walk-in closet (ah, how I wish I had that closet here in Brooklyn...) and the brand new soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. It's immaculately clean.
The guesthouse is just across the driveway from Tarek and Lily's, but we had all of the privacy we needed. It was also a lot of fun to chat with Lilly and Tarek, who are warm and welcoming. Lilly even offered us homemade raspberry basil ice cream which we quickly demolished while sitting on our little porch listening to the crickets and drinking tea.
Lilly and Tarek have a puppy who's friendly but still needs training and a cute outdoor cat who roams the front yard. They also have several hummingbird feeders in their garden; it was so much fun to watch those little birds whipping around.
This house is a gem and a perfect place for a quiet Malibu retreat.
What a wonderful stay! Lillie and her beautiful mom Lucy were incredible hosts. We were welcomed with fresh fruit, juice etc in our fridge. The guesthouse is exactly as pictured and described, very well equipped and comfortable to stay in. The queen size bed is extremely comfortable, not unlike a nice hotel. There is no wifi, as clearly stated in the description of their guesthouse, but there are Starbucks in Malibu or Augora Hills that we used to catch up on emails/texts/phone calls. You feel very secluded on their wooded property, but are only 5 miles from Augora Hills with everything you could possibly need (restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters) and 5 miles in the other direction to get to Pacific Coast Hwy in Malibu, just a short distance from Zuma Beach.
Lilly has lots of suggestions, if you want them, for great restaurants, things to do etc. You can have complete privacy if you chose, or enjoy time with their family.
I already miss my late afternoon conversations with Lucy and spending time with sweet Bailey as well!
Thank you for making our 1 month stay so pleasant. We truly enjoyed it!!

About the Host, Lilly
My husband and I warmly welcome you into our home. We are fun loving, friendly, love cooking, eating, drinking good wine with food, love traveling anywhere in the world, love music, reading, hiking, scuba diving, skiing, and sometimes like doing nothing and just crashing.
We really enjoy having guests who like to make new friends. Having traveled to many places and using sites like air b&b, we treat our guests they way we would like to be treated!!
