The Space

I have a comfortable modern room available in the Corktown neighborhood. Its a private room with a queen size bed and a shared bathroom.

This neighborhood was originally settled by Irish immigrants and is just west of downtown (center of downtown is about a mile from my place). Its a working class neighborhood that has some interesting urban charm.

I love this city and its my goal to have visitors experience and enjoy as many of its assets as possible. I'm always happy to tell you some of the interesting things going on in town. I'm close to every freeway so you can easily get around the region. I'm about a 25 minute drive from the airport. Sadly, we don't have a real good public transportation system, so be prepared for that. If possible, I would recommend bringing a bike because in many ways Detroit is an ideal biking city.

You are welcome to use the kitchen (I also have a gas grill that you could use) and wifi is available for your (website hidden) as well. I guess I should also mention that I don't smoke and I don't allow smoking in the house.

  • We had a great stay with Todd. He gave us some great suggestions of places to check out when we first arrived which were quite helpful. He also had a lot of guides in the room that you could look at. We had a relaxing stay. The room was very comfortable. We didn't interact much with Todd which was what we wanted so it was perfect. We didn't have any issue with the neighborhood and it was very easy to get to downtown or other parts of town.

  • Great stay. Todd's house was quaint, clean, and comfortable. Todd was wonderful, too. He was very hospitable and shared great info on Detroit, including local gems (e.g. restaurants, sights) and history.

  • Great place to stay in Detroit - good location for exploring on foot and by car, close to bars and restaurants on Michigan Avenue and walking distance to Michigan Central Station, though no trains running anymore of course :)

The bedroom and living space was clean and comfortable and with a relaxed atmosphere.

    Thanks Todd!

  • I was in Detroit for a conference and found Comfortable room in North Corktown a convenient alternative to the pricy downtown hotel options. The location was about a mile from the downtown venues, and Todd had a choice of two bikes (old cruisers) for my daily commute. I was fortunate to have good weather and that I'm a regular biker. Also, Todd had suggested using a van shuttle, called Skoot, for a cheaper option to go between the airport and the N. Corktown room. Skoot was very convenient and only $50 round trip. That beats a taxi that can double that price and the slow metro bus that can take over 2 hours. Overall, I was happy to have saved money during my stay for the conference. If you're in Detroit for vacation, you may want to rent a car, it's easy to find parking any where in the city. There's a lot of spread out pocket neighborhoods worth seeing.

  • Todd is a cool guy and his house is beautiful, clean and comfortable. A good head quarter for discover the city. Detroit is beautiful, it's a safe city with lot of abandoned buildings and street art, the architecture is awesome, hours and hours of discovery. Todd can lend you a bike, Crorktown is the perfect place to make a ride and go to Michigan ave, Michigan Central Depot or downtown.

  • The perfect stay. I generally prefer private en-suite bathrooms but Todd made everything very convenient, and I felt extremely well taken care of with plenty of high quality fresh linens, and personal space. The photos, while accurate, do not do justice to the house -- the room and bath are very nice and cosy. Location was superb, central and safe yet quiet, and Todd gave excellent tips as well.

  • Due to our differing schedule, I didn't get to see Todd much. But even from our few conversations I can say that he is nice and considerate person, and very flexible. The place was just as described in the listing, at it lies in a peaceful neighbourhood not too far from downtown. All these coupled with the very good price, I recommend this to everyone who's seeking accommodation in Detroit.
