Welcome to Aomori Kurahaku, a centuries old ‘kura’ - traditional Japanese storehouse - restored into a one of a kind retreat in the heart of Kuroishi. Entering Kurahaku, you’ll be greeted with a striking Nebuta artwork standing guard in the living room. From earthen walls and timber beams, to a curated collection of antiques, every corner holds a piece of history.

This accommodation can sleep up to 9 guests, perfect for anyone looking to explore Aomori and northern Japan.

The space
This is a two-story accommodation.
1st Floor: Living room, bedroom 1 (4 single beds + 1 fold out bed), kitchen, shower, 2 toilets (western style with heated bidet)
2nd Floor: Bedroom 2 (4 futons)
Please let us know the number of guests in each bedroom on the 1st and 2nd floor at the time of booking so we can prepare the correct number of bedding and amenities.
Stairs to the second floor are steep and may not be suitable for elderly guests or heavy luggage.

The property also features a ‘kominka’ - traditional folk house - which is an exclusive space where guests can participate in the following curated experiences:
・Bridal kimono experience
・Shamisen performance and lesson
・Samurai swordsman experience
・Fruit and vegetable harvesting (season dependent)

Please note that these experiences are operated separately from the accommodation and are not included in the room rate. For guests staying two nights or more, a complimentary shamisen performance and lesson is included.

Details will be coordinated via Airbnb messaging after the booking is confirmed. Please let us know which activities you would like to experience as soon as possible so we can make sufficient arrangements.
