Luxury home on the top of Mt Dandenong

Situated less than an hour from the Melbourne CBD, on the uppermost reach of the Dandenong Ranges, amid cool ferny glades and lush towering native forests. This is one of Mount Dandenong's premier getaway homes with majestic views to be experienced day or night over the Melbourne skyline.

Walking distance to the famous SkyHigh Observatory and restaurant and a short drive to the mystical William Ricketts Sanctuary and The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden.

The space
We are offering a six bedroom house with high ceilings, expansive windows and skylights which give an abundance of natural light and a vast terrace including a Spa for outdoor entertaining. We also have a theatre room for guests to enjoy a home cinema experience. This room is fully equipped with surround sound, electric reclining leather seats, projector and screen, Foxtel, Stan and is a great addition for all to enjoy.

It’s large size makes it the perfect base for a mountain getaway, wedding accommodation or just a private luxurious sanctuary.

*Please note that strictly only the guests who are booked to stay are allowed on the property over night.*

If you would like to hold a gathering with more guests than those who are booked to stay you must obtain prior approval. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and may incur additional charges.

We are located in a very quiet area so the peace and tranquility of our neighbours and respecting our local community is absolutely paramount.

The house has all the modern amenities along with large living spaces for guests to relax and unwind.

If there are fewer than 7 guests the entire lower floor will be available which includes a master bedroom with full en-suite, walk in wardrobe and king size bed, along with a large wide screen television with Foxtel and Stan. 2 guest bedrooms with queen size beds, televisions and another bathroom. There is a large open plan kitchen and dining room, laundry and high ceiling, spacious sitting room, again with a large wide screen television.

For 7 to 8 guests, the forth Garden View Bedroom, which boasts queen size bed, walk-in-wardrobe and another gorgeous en-suite bathroom will also be available.

Please note that the third bathroom will only be available if there are 7 or more guests.

For 9 to 11 guests, the fifth Bedroom which is designed for kids and has a double lower bunk and single upper bunk will be opened. This shares an en-suite with the 4th bedroom.

For 12 to 13 guests the 6th bedroom which is above the master bedroom will be opened up. This bedroom unfortunately doesn't have an en-suite but does have a king bed (or 2 singles if you prefer) and large wide screen television. This bedroom is set as a king bedroom as default, please let me know when booking if you require the 2 single beds instead.

For 14 to 15 guests we can set a queen floor mattress in the living room area or in the theatre room. This is not ideal as it will encroach into the living areas but possible for bridal groups that must have all family members together.

The Kitchen is light filled and equipped for self catering. It contains a top-of-the-range oven, stove, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and other appliances.

Our lovely mountain retreat is ideal for people coming to the Dandenong Ranges for weddings or other functions and conveniently located within walking distance to the famous SkyHigh function centre.

Guest access

There is space in front of the garage for multiple car parking or there is space for cars on Observatory Road.

There are walking tracks and paths on the property for guests to explore.

There is also outdoor seating around the property and fantastic views of the city day and night. There is a fire pit in the garden for use in the winter months for a comfort fire.

Other things to note

Children are welcome but the house has open steps and hard floors along with a fireplace so children will need to be supervised at all times.

We do accept bookings for intimate (up to 15 booked guests) garden wedding ceremonies and functions as well as private chef dinners. There are additional fees and charges for these options.

Guest access
Guests have access to all open rooms. Please be aware that extra bedrooms can only be opened up if more guests are selected during the booking process. Please let us know if you have single guests requiring separate beds as our 6th bedroom can be set with 2 single beds instead of a king.

Other things to note
There is space for around 6 cars to park, 2 cars at the top of the drive and 4 up the drive. There is also space for 3 cars on observatory road.

The bromine dispenser must remain in the spa at all times, the floating dispenser is needed to keep the water sanitised, without it bacteria may build up and you could become sick.

Location

Mount Dandenong, Victoria, Australia

Upper Ferntree Gully, Belgrave, Upwey, Monbulk and Silvan

Located within the Dandenong Ranges National Park, you’ll find the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk, the 1000 Steps Kokoda Walk is a renowned tourist spot with adjacent forested areas, bushlands, and various scenic points. Plaques along the trail depict the lives of the soldiers who fought and died on the real Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, during World War II.

A hugely popular tourist attraction which has been enthralling visitors – young and old – for over a century is the Puffing Billy steam train which takes passengers on a scenic journey through the region every day of the year (except Christmas Day). Puffing Billy’s 50 km route extends from Belgrave, winding along the historic track through ferny glades, Emerald Park Lake and towering Mountain Ash, to its terminus in Gembrook.

Situated in the Sherbrooke Forest, you’ll find Grants Picnic Ground, famous for its bird feeding. When visiting you’ll experience spectacular Cockatoos, Rosellas, and Parrots as they fly in to say ‘Hello’. If you enjoy bushwalking there are also many walking tracks that start from the picnic ground which takes you through spectacular scenery whilst viewing native plants and wildlife.

Mid-September to mid-October every year there’s an explosion of colour and fun at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. With over a million spring flowering bulbs, the floral spectacle will take your breath away.
