We have happily lived in this glorious home, full-time, for the past six years. Due to health considerations, we are leaving for Tucson, AZ, the middle of April.
Our home is tranquil and comfortable with indoor and outdoor entertainment areas: the very spacious living room has two ceiling fans and a vent-less gas fireplace that makes the room toasty warm during January in less than 10 minutes. Its boveda ceiling stops traffic! There is egress to the front rooftop with both a covered entertainment area for games, sunset watching, reading or napping as well as an open area that is delightful for outdoor dining in the evenings or sunbathing during the days, along with a colorful half bath on that level.
On the garden level, also accessible from the living room is our palapa covered area for lazy afternoons or Mariachi-type evenings!
You can bring in hundreds of channels from Canada on Shaw direct, included in the price. Also included is wireless internet from Telmex and a Vonage, toll free telephone line.
The kitchen is very Mexican with its colorful tiles, but totally modern with stainless gas range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer with ice maker, purified water, and dishwasher. In addition, it comes with our housekeeper who works from 8am to noon, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. She is a delightful and unobtrusive addition to the comfort of our home.
The flowers, herbs, trees and grass areas are tended by our gardener who comes from 8am to 12pm, Tuesday - Thursday - Saturday and is an excellent room painter and handyman.
The master bedroom opens to the lower garden and palapa. It has a walk-in closet, built in wall safe, en suite bath, and comfortable sitting area which is open to an interior garden, making it a very light-filled and relaxing place.
The second bedroom has closets and a wonderful spa bathroom!
The third bedroom is actually a small suite. It has a gas fireplace with room for a table and chairs so your guests can enjoy privacy. Of course, it has its own full bath.
Finally, there is a carport (cochera) and lots of storage. The home sits on a cul de sac where a statue of St. Michael watches over the residents.
We have 24-7 security in this gated community. Our neighbors are expats like ourselves as well as young and older Mexican families.
The neighborhood is quiet and there is a private club with a 18-hole golf course, olympic pool, gym, and 6 clay tennis courts within walking (5-minute) distance.
It is a flat, 20-minute walk to shopping and restaurants or you can take a taxi into town. Taxis are cheap ($3 fare to most destinations) and readily available. You can also grab a bus at the entrance and experience some native life.
San Miguel de Allende, a World Heritage Site, is a colonial gem which has attracted artists for generations. The city has maintained its old world charm and been enhanced by loving restoration and beautification. It is a popular tourist destination for people from every country, especially from Mexico, the US and Canada. In recent years its popularity as a destination wedding venue has exploded.
We came here 13 years ago as snowbirds and quickly made it our permanent home.
For a reasonable fee, you can enjoy the facilities of the Malanquin Club.
We have loved the quiet, beauty and security.
If you don't like walking, phone for a taxi or hop a bus across the street from the guard gate.
