Come stay right next to it all in a comfortable luminous bedroom, while enjoying the privacy and quiet.

Beautiful bedroom in two bedroom home, in a very quiet residential neighborhood. This bedroom is mine unless you book it, so I only accept shorter stays.

The house is a perfect base for exploring Los Angeles. The house is cozy, with both indoor and outdoor spaces to hang out - a pocket garden in the front of the house, and a sunset facing patio in the back yard, perfect for an evening drink. The yard varies largely with the seasons, I sometimes have veggies growing in the garden, sometimes have wild flowers in the front. The house is informal, with high speed wifi, easy street parking, kitchen access, space outdoors all make this a great home base. Super easy access to LAX, it's about 15 minutes by car / taxi. The westside sights (Santa Monica pier, Venice Beach, the boardwalk, and the Promenade) are about 15 minutes away, and about 30 min by bike (I have several that can be borrowed with a deposit).

For trips out and about, two freeways are just a few minutes away, and they will take you to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Universal Studios, Disneyland or points beyond! Super easy access to Santa Monica City College, Loyola Marymount University and UCLA. And if you prefer to use public transit, the nearby bus stop has two major lines that will get you to downtown and Santa Monica.

I'm a LA native (somewhat rare in this city) I grew up in the neighborhood - in fact the house was my grandparents- so I can offer a local's viewpoint, insights and suggestions of things to do.

The neighborhood itself is quiet and calm, very residential, all single family homes and out of the hubbub. Parking is super easy, and ample with no restrictions - no chance of getting a parking ticket! Tell me what you'd like to do while you're here and I can definitely make some suggestions, both typical and off the beaten path!

Check in time is after 5 PM. Earlier is often available - so if you would like to check in before then, please check with me *before* booking!

  • I had a really pleasant stay. The room was exactly as described and cozy. As I was on a business trip I was grateful for being able to always find a quiet place to work on my laptop - thanks to her WiFi. Shelby always there when I had a question. The neighborhood is really quiet and nice. Supermarkets or anything else you might look for is only a 15 minutes to walk - if you like to walk like I do :-)

  • Shelby was an awesome host, and the room (as well as her house) were quite comfortable. She also made sure I had fresh linens/towels during my stay. Her location is also great for those wanting to get around on the Westside. Can't recommend it enough!

  • Great room, great house, great host.. My experience was wonderful. The house is 10 minutes away from the beach, room & house are clean and warm. The house has a special smell of wood that makes the experience even more worth it.
Shelby was a great help and really nice person. She had everything needed for a perfect stay, i felt like i was home.

  • Location is great, lots of street parking. Room was fine, hostess very pleasant. My only complaint was the lack of heating, so if you're booking in winter and this is an issue for you, you may wish to find alternate accommodations

    Response from Shelby:

I wish Julian had told me that he was cold while he was here! The house has heat! Julian rented my bedroom (with a very last minute reservation) and since I generally like a cool bedroom, I don't mind the lack of heater vent in the room. However, I do have a very nice extra heater on hand - but I do need to be told it is needed!

  • Shelby is a super nice person and you will love knowing her! During a trip to the Grand Canyon with my mum, we had a stopover in LA to drop my dog at his sitter's. We'(email hidden)ly group and Shelby was very kind and hospitable to all of us! We enjoyed meeting her. We shared lots of laughs and stories and I'm so happy to have made a new friend in LA. Thanks, Shelby!

I'm a Los Angeles native who lived overseas - mostly in Europe - for many years. Family brought me back to the states (the house was my grandparents), and circumstances keep in once place most of the time. So I get my travel fill by meeting all the lovely guests that come through my home, which has been a real pleasure! I do work full time, though a mostly flexible schedule, which helps with hosting. I'm a photographer and glass artist, in addition to speaking fluent French I speak "menu" in several other languages, and can say "I don't know" in Danish ;-)
