If the dates you require are not available for this listing please check my other listing 'Lovely room in friendly Balmain'
Birchgrove is a wonderful friendly suburb making up part of the beautiful Balmain peninsular. It has the warm feel of a village with all the benefits of a vibrant city
Located a mere 15 minute drive from the centre of city, with buses and ferries on the door step, it is a painless (and often beautiful - particularly by ferry) trip to such attractions as the Opera House, the bridge, the magnificent harbour and historic areas such as the Rocks.
Also close by is the stunning Cockatoo Island, with spectacular views, historical buildings and home to the Cockatoo Island Film Festival held in October
The Balmain area itself has plenty to keep you occupied, with a welcoming village atmosphere, a variety of interesting shops, fabulous restaurants, numerous coffee shops, beautiful harbourside parks, quirky 2nd hand markets, pubs with live music and a wonderful ambience
The room we offer is a spacious double bedroom in a characterful double-fronted weatherboard house typical of this lovely suburb.
You are welcome to help yourself to tea, coffee, cereal and toast which you can enjoy on our gorgeous covered verandah looking at the city views.
We also have a second double bedroom available at times (email me to check availability) so can accommodate up to four people, or a family with children (age 8 and above - house not set up for young children)
The house offers all the amenities you are used to at home including:
- WIFI Internet
- Free street parking
- Instant hot water service
- Washer and a dryer (and outdoor line)
- Two bathrooms so though not an ensuite no queuing required
- Friendly and outgoing hosts who love having a full house.
- Beach towels and boogie boards
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our home in the near future!
Convenient to ferry or bus to town and a wonderful informal homey stay. We'd definitely return. Sue was great!!
Sue is a wonderful host! We enjoyed every moment of our stay in her house. Her house is beautiful, full of colour which reflect perfectly Sue's personnality! She made us feel confortable all the time and gave us a lot of attention. It was delightful to have chats with her. The location is perfect, a few minutes drive from the city by bus and so many nice restaurants in the main street, which is 5 minutes walk from the house. We loved our stay and we will come back again for sure. Thanks Sue!
Sue and her family made us feel so welcome. They were so helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We felt as though we were part of the family. The amenities provided were excellent and all the facilities were spotlessly clean. They were centrally located to shops, restaurants etc and we were also close to bus stops and ferries.
We intend on staying there again and would highly recommend this bnb.
A beautiful little place in a bohemian village in Balmain. Great cafes and watering holes. Nice to have the harbour ferry terminal within 5 min walk and also bus stop within 10 min.
Only drawback is that there is only one bathroom/toliet at the basement.
Sue is a great host and feel like staying with a friend rather stranglers.
Really enjoyed hosting you all and thanks for the great feedback, just wanted to clarify some info though for future guests, to let them know there are in fact two bathrooms and toilets the house .... The other is off my room which me and my daughters use while guests are staying so that the guests have the other bathroom downstairs for their own use, sorry if Harriet didn't explain that when you checked in. Have a wonderful holiday in Sri Lanka with your family, and see you back for the 40th reunion ;)
Everything just perfect! Communication: quick replies via E-Mail or text message, arrival time: uncomplicated, house: nice individual interiour design, perfectly situated - you can catch the ferry or bus to the city, the first makes a nice (but often quite short) harbour tour. We liked the area with its small houses and the view to the skyline from the terrace where we had breakfast. Sue is very helpfull, provides brochures and timetables and we enjoyed a lot to stay in this friendly house. Would love to come here again :)
Comfortable, friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed our (all too brief) stay and will certainly go back. Sue has splendid views and the room was clean and bed was comfortable!
The house's position is also very good for ferries, buses and the local Darling Street shops, cafés and restaurants.
We had a great time at Sues house. We relaxed a lot by sitting outside at the back deck or cooking in the wonderful kitchen.
Sue is such a great host, helpful, open-hearted. Very, very good experience!
We had a great week at Sue's place. It is a beautiful house in an ideal location. There is ample parking and we parked up and used public transport as it is so easy. Ferries and buses being very frequent into the city. She and her two girls are so warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Mike is a man of many questions and their patience and knowledge was abundant. We will certainly return in the future and wish them all the luck for the future.
Such a beautiful house in a beautiful area. Sue was a wonderful and welcoming host. Definitely recommended!
