Get away from it all in a secluded modernized cabin, which guests have loved for its "silence and beauty", calling it "peaceful" and "serene". Located on the 240 acre Lakefalls Estate, and adjacent to a nature preserve, Mended Oar features a screened porch, wrap-around deck, a well-furnished kitchen with quality appliances and equipment, and luxurious linens.

Take a canoe or kayak (provided free) out on the meadows outside your door, hike the many trails, enjoy the fire pit on a starry night.

The space
The cabin, built in the 1950's, has been totally modernized while keeping the 50's aesthetic.

With a wraparound deck, screened-in porch, beautiful lawns, wool blankets and fine linens, you'll feel like you're in a five-star resort rather than deep in the woods. The fully equipped kitchen will suit serious cooks, and the deck has a propane grill.

Radiant heat will keep you cozily warm year-round, but you can also enjoy the wood-burning stove inside the cabin and an outdoor fire pit overlooking Chandler Meadow, with an abundance of firewood provided without charge. We also offer use of canoes and kayaks without charge.

The cabin is now serviced by a Starlink internet connection, which provides very reliable high speed service. Canoes and kayaks are available to guests without charge.

NOTE: Dogs are welcome (with the exception of pit bulls and Rottweilers). There is a $50 fee per dog, but no more than two dogs are allowed.

Guest access
You're free to walk and hike around the 250 acres of the Lakefalls estate as well as trails through the adjoining 10,000 acres in conservation easement. Snowshoes and micro-spikes are provided in the cabin to make winter walking easier.

Other things to note
You'll find Mended Oar at the end of a well maintained and well-plowed dirt road, two miles into the woods from Granite Lake. Roads are plowed and sanded by on-site Lakefalls staff throughout the winter.

While Mended Oar is located deep in the woods, it's just a 25-minute drive to Keene, NH which offers lots of great shopping, as well as good restaurants and bars.

Neighborhood highlights

If you're a nature lover, the setting of Mended Oar Outpost is hard to beat. Overlooking a two-mile-long marsh and 10,000 acres of conserved land, you'll have the opportunity to see moose, beavers, otters, black bears, wild turkeys, hawks, blue heron, bald eagles and many other critters.

There are miles of hiking trails and you can enjoy a very private swim by the covered bridge at Chandler Meadow. A canoe and kayak are at your disposal to paddle the length of the marsh.
