Liz is a very friendly and gracious hostess! She and John served us very nice breakfasts and were very knowledgeable about their area.
Their home is very nice and the suite is lovely. Great to stay in Gatlinburg away from the craziness of downtown. Very close to the Great Smokey Mtns. which was our reason for being there!
Great Hospitality and terrific breakfast. John and Liz were really nice and made us feel right at home. Would stay there again for sure!
John and Liz are gracious hosts. I could feel the love and warmth as soon as I stepped into their cozy home. My room was clean and welcoming. I slept so well. This is a place to relax and enjoy the Smokey Mountains all year round.
John and Liz were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was lovely, a great place to stay!
We spent 5 days here celebrating our 1st anniversary. The room was spacious, inviting and very clean. The food was to die for and we ate entirely too much! We appreciated having our bed straightened up daily and fresh towels. The bathrooms were extremely clean as well. Liz and John went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed with fresh flowers in the house and little chocolate bars in our room. Both were very helpful with directions to local attractions and restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay with the Patti's and we hope to come back in the future. Thanks again for all of your wonderful hospitality.
My husband and I recently stayed three nights at the Storybook Chalet. John and Liz were wonderful hosts! They even had a totally unexpected array of snacks for us upon arrival. Nice! We munched on cheeses, crackers, wine, beer and soda. They made us feel welcome in their home.
The breakfast food was plentiful, country style. We dined on a bowl of fruit, biscuits and gravy or a bagel, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and tomatoes. The portions were generous.
We were with a party of five and my husband and I stayed in the room with a double bed and shared bath, so my comments will apply to that room. The room is sunny and inviting and the bed is comfortable. The shared bath is rather small, with a shower for bathing. Because of the slant of the roof, it is difficult to use the sink. The mirror is located so that it is only about 4 feet off the ground, giving a view of my mid section. The six-foot person who stayed in the other small room could not even stand in that area.
Our room had a sink in the room itself, which helped alleviate the use of the shared bath. However, the slanted roof again impeded the ability to use the mirror and I had to kneel in front of the sink in order to use the mirror.
The house is located in a very nice setting just outside Gatlinburg. The grounds are lovely and we spent time on the porch and walking around looking at the emerging wildflowers.
One of the main reasons we booked this site was because of the write-up that said: “Or you can hop a Trolley to every major destination within Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. This includes the National Park, Dollywood and the Aquarium just to mention a few. Wow! Leave your car at the Storybook Chalet and go have fun.” We had envisioned a traffic free visit where we could get to places via public transportation. At the time we booked, the write-up said it was a five minute walk to the Craft Center.
The reality was a little different. We could have walked the 10 to 15 minute walk to the Craft Center or walked down the hill to the main road to catch the trolley. Not an easy walk. At the time we were there, the trolleys were running about every half hour (according to John and Liz). This would also have meant a walk back up the hill upon our return. We opted to fight the traffic and pay parking in our destinations.
We had a delightful visit and ultimately did all the activities we had planned.
John and Liz were wonderful hosts. They were great cooks, knew a lot about the town, lived 5 minutes from downtown (by car) and had a lovely home. We truly can't say anything bad about the experience.
Would recommend and stay again!
We had a wonderful stay. John & Liz were wonderful hosts and excellent cooks. Will definitely stay there again!
Our first experience at a bed and breakfast and if we are to do this again those host will have big shoes to fill to top Jon and Patti. The whole experience that we had was make yourselves at home. I also want to say that their animals put such style into our feelings of being welcome in their home. It was so clean and comfy and the fireplace was as luminous as their hospitality. We will be back to see you sometime. That you can be sure of and perhaps the Easter Bunny will come hopping in with us or maybe the luck of the Irish. Take care and God Bless both of you.
John and Liz were great hosts and were committed to making our stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know them in between our jaunts to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the Smokies.
Their place is very convenient to Gatlinburg and just a few minutes from the nearby artisan community. We would definitely stay again.
