The Space

A newly refurbished apartment, bright, clean and fresh. Great for up to 6 guests on a budget, a big family or comfortable for one or two couples wanting privacy.
It's on the first floor (not too many stairs) of an Old City apartment, 5 mins walk from Las Ramblas.

Very, very illuminated and bright with huge windows, high ceilings with original wooden beams, brand new parquet flooring and double glazed windows. Lots of charm.

The great thing about this apartment is the distribution - most of the 55 square meters is usable space - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living / dining and open kitchen.
The main bedroom has twin beds that can be separated for groups wanting their own beds. The second bedroom is very small but there are also 2 single beds in there.
All mattresses are memory foam (visco-elastic) and brand new.
Finally, the living room has a big double sofa bed.

The sleeping arrangement are idea for two couples sharing, but will also suit up to 3 couples, families with children or groups of up to 6, with 5 separate sleeping spaces.

A fully equipped kitchen with vitro-ceramic stove top, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, etc...
The bathroom is small but very comfortable as the pictures show.

In general
The main space is air conditioned, but bedrooms don't have specific outlets. You have windows in all rooms though to encourage flow of fresh air and with the doors of the bedrooms open (and windows closed) the whole space does cool down.

There is a washing machine in a separate laundry room.
Flat screen TV,
WIFI internet included
A.C. in the main living area

Great strategic location near the bottom of the Old City on the border between El Raval and El Barrio Gothic and two minutes walk to the nearest Metro : Parallel (green and Purple lines.
You are on a quiet, tranquil street, not the best looking, but very safe and well lit.
An escape from the bustle of Las Ramblas only 3 mins walk away, the Marina area in a few minutes walk away, and the walk up Las Ramblas to the centre of the city; Plaza Catalunya, takes just 20 mins.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The Pros: It was walkable to everything we wanted and there was a metro station around the corner. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. The apartment was clean and met our needs.

The Cons: We were a little disappointed to find out that the apartment we were given was NOT the apt pictured. It looked somewhat similar, but was smaller and not as nice as the pictures. When I asked the host about it, she said they had two apartments in the same building and the pictures were a combination of both apartments. She said they were "exactly the same". But that was not the case. The bathroom was tiny, the couch was an old futon, not a nice sectional, and the kitchen was so small you had to open the fridge in order to have enough room to open one of the cabinet doors. The kitchen table was in the living room, not in the kitchen as it appears to be in the picture.

The street it was on was pretty sketchy. I never felt unsafe, but it smelled like pee all the time and there were men shooting up drugs on the sidewalk.

  • Even though the street doesn't look fancy, the location of the apartment is great! All the city attractions are close and available by walking.
And they just did the renovation)
However, the apartment is smaller than it appears on the photos.

  • Nice and cute apartment, good location. Checkin and checkout went smooth.

The apartment building and the street is only a bit noisy. We saw 2 times a cockroach in the bathroom.

  • I had the best time at this apartment. It was clean and big enough for 3 of us. Kitchen was very modern and we made full use of it. (Picked up fresh ingredients from the nearby market, only a 10 min walk) It is in a convenient "happening" location. 3min walk to La Rambla. 15min walk to the beach/promenade. Apollo club 3min walk away is definitely an experience (underground beats) which goes till 6am!
Most importantly, the host was amazing in terms of providing information and replying to questions.

I definitely recommend this place for anyone. I'd say up to 5 people can stay comfortably. (1 bed for each person and 1 on the big sofa bed)

    Thanks Angela & Asaf!

  • The apartment was clean and its location was perfect.
We enjoyed our stay in Barcelona.

  • This was a very well-presented, clean flat with very comfortable beds. It was in a convenient location for Las Ramblas and the harbour area which was a short walk away. However we found it was very noisy at night - bins being emptied, people shouting in the street which went on till the early hours and started again at 5.00 am! The area is quite run down though there were lots of people around and we were very near busy areas so we did not feel unsafe (also the police station is just around the corner!).

  • The house is nice, though the street where it is located is a bit scary at night and very noisy. There are no aircons is the bedrooms so you have to sleep with the windows open, so bring something against mosquitos.
The location is great, we walked all around the city and felt like we are in the center of the city.

  • My friend and I really enjoyed our time in Barcelona, and this flat was a great home base! It's quite close to great shopping, bars, restaurants, etc. The place was cosy and bright, as promised, and Toni, who met us there, was very friendly and helpful.
We arrived too early for check-in, but Toni arranged for the cleaning woman to let us in to stash our baggage. We had a bit of trouble finding the place - turns out the address is actually next door to the one we were given - but once we got past this confusion, everything was great.
As with another post, we found that the hot water didn't last very long in the shower, so be quick!
Toni also came back and met us on time for our early check-out, which was much appreciated.
Overall, we had a great time here, and we'd definitely recommend it!

  • Apartment was close to everything without being too close too be noisy. Our hosts were friendly and informative and gave us lots of 'touristy' ideas and some off the local knowledge to avoid such tourists (fantastic local eateries and bars, etc).
We even got lost when we first got there and we were met at a meeting point because we were getting way too frazzled.
Apartment was new and clean and the neighbours friendly - we even got invited around on Saturday night for a drink.
    Can't recommend enough!

I grew up in Sydney, Australia and moved to London at 24, gave it a good 10 years and now I've found Barcelona and Asaf. To me, Barcelona is the love child of these two very different cities: Its the perfect combination of the good weather, relaxed and active lifestyle of Sydney and the bustling, centre-of-the-world ness of London. Asaf and I love to show visitors what Barcelona is for us: The creativity, architecture and music. The beach, cycling, BBQs with friends, wonderful food and amazing weather. It'(email hidden) to call home for a little while. In my spare time I crochet and I have a little Etsy shop called Churchill Handmade. My creations are all from natural fibres like wools, hemp, bamboo and organic cotton because I think we all need a bit more nature in our lives.
