We had a wonderful time at Lorraine's. She was a wonderful host made us feel very welcome. The house was really excellent. We felt independent. Lorraine leaves you alone, so while you are independent she is always there for you. Her house is one of the very good neighbourhoods of London which is Barnes. It is centrally connected both by bus and train. Hammersmith is a few bus stops aways and is a good hub to catch the various lines of the underground.
We had a kitchenette part of her main kitchen for making tea and coffee. There was a also a microwave and we were given a shelf in her fridge.
The listing description was quite accurate.
While we had a short association by staying there for 11 days we left thinking Lorraine was our friend.
This was our first Airbnb experience, and we were very pleased with everything. Lorraine is an excellent host who makes sure you are happy with your stay through her attention to details and helpful advice on all things local.
Barnes is a quiet residential area, there are many nice restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and a top quality movie theater at Olympic Studios all within walking distance from Lorraine's house.
Barnes has excellent transport links to the rest of London: there are frequent buses to Hammersmith subway station, several of which offer 24-hour service. You can also walk there, it takes about 15 minutes. Hammersmith subway is convenient to central London, as well as Heathrow airport. There is also a huge Westfield shopping mall nearby, you can take #72 bus there.
Lorraine is usually available to chat with guests, and is a pleasure to talk to. She is well versed in history and current events, traveled extensively has many interesting stories to share.
The room is exactly as described, beds are very comfortable. In summary, this is an authentic Airbnb experience not to be missed. We are very grateful to Lorraine for making us feel at home in London.
The listing description was accurate and the neighborhood was a charming English neighborhood in a desirable community. Lorraine was a very accommodating host greeting us with a cup of tea and recommendations for sight-seeing in London which helped considerably as this was our first time in London. We cut short our stay because we were on what would be called a genealogical tour and decided we wanted to spend more time visiting ancestral areas in the English countryside. We have no trouble recommending this listing.
We had a wonderful time at lorraine house.
everything was clean. we had what we needed in the kitchen and in the room itself. Lorraine is a lovely host.
We arrived at Lorraine's charming home in a lovely neighborhood. Lorraine gave us her undivided attention and even drove us to the store to buy supplies and get on oyster card which you need to ride the bus that stops in front of Lorraine's home and connects to the tube. We enjoyed the beds and our charming twin bedroom. We had trouble learning to flush the toilet, use the back of the hand with a firm motion, turns out it was us, not the toilets fault. There is a charming garden in the yard and the wifi works well. The only challenge we had was not having a British phone with us to call a taxi. Lorraine called it for us both days, one day worked well and the other day was too high of a price to pay to go into London. This had nothing to do with Lorraine. She was gracious with us as we had a visitor and this is frowned upon at air b and b, it causes issues with the visitor using the restroom and hanging around, in general. The place is in a great neighborhood, my mom and I took the walking path along the Thames and had lunch at the Rams Head pub. One day we walked back from the tube, it was about a 30 minute walk- but a fabulous neighborhood to walk thru. If we had taken the bus right from the tube station we could have been dropped at the front door. We would stay here again, everything was clean and we had what we needed in the kitchen.
