The ART House is a beautiful gayfriendly B&B located on the small newly developed island in Amsterdam, Java-eiland.
The ART House is a big apartment, in which we live as well. We have three rooms: Marilyn, Sophia and Marlene room, each named after the artwork hanging on the walls. Marilyn and Sophia offer great canal views towards the city.
We serve breakfast only at the weekends, but during the week close to our apartment are cafes serving bagels and coffee where you can on a sunny day sit by the river to enjoy the view and relax.
Your hosts, Robert (artist/interior stylist) & Nat (theatre director), welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay with us in Amsterdam.
Java-island is a quiet wealthy area.
The apartment is close to the city centre and Central Station - either by public transport ±10 minutes ride, or a short walk of ±20 minutes allowing you to take in some of the most modern architecture Amsterdam has to offer - close enough to enjoy the city but a peaceful haven surrounded by water.
In all the rooms is WIFI available (fibre-optic so it's super fast!)
Laundry service (by hosts) 7,50 euro a wash.
Public transport (24-hours) is easily accessible to and from the city.
Please note that check ins must be arranged on beforehand.

My friend and I enjoyed staying at Robert´s place. The room offered us all we needed: a comfortable bed, a small table with chairs, a couch and a wardrobe. the room and the bathroomm and toilet were clean and tidy.
We had the pleasure to stay over the weekend and enjoyed the breakfast and some conversation with Robert and Nat. They were helpful and recommended us places to see, also outside the city center!
Nat and Robert are two very nice and uncomplicated hosts. I recommend staying at their place!
Awesome neighborhood, wonderful place and great hosts. Thanks Robert and Nat for the week in the ART House.
Wonderful stay with Robert, his place is beautiful and very artistic and Robert was wonderful and helpful host
I will definitely stay with him on my return to Amsterdam
The room was great, very clean. As was the rest of the house. Robert and Nat make excellent hosts, ones we will not forget. Highly recommended, and would definitely get back in touch again when returning to Amsterdam!
Cool apartment, comfy bed, and nice breakfast! The location is right beside the port of the City. Robert is an nice person. I really enjoyed the 3-day stay.
Perfect location for a visit to Amsterdam. Silent because it is outside the city center but only 5 minutes away from the city center by tram.
The room looked exactly as seen on the photos. Decent materials used, clean, and cosy thanks to all the decorative elements. There is no TV but we read a book instead - they have lots of interesting reads.
Robert is a really friendly guy. He gave us good hints for visits and food. We can tell because we checked ;-)
I'll recommend this place to friends.
This is a great place to stay. Robert and his partner were the most helpful and friendly host. I hope we can come back here in the future!
I stayed at Marilyn room, it's on the ground floor. And actually it is the very next to the outside pavement, you can hear every passengers' footsteps and cars. So in the early morning, it felt a little noisy for me. And room's a bit too dark. But I think it's because Japanese prefer bright lights. 'Couse I'm always a bit surprised how dark the lightings are in Europe at the first chance when I flew in, especially in metro and housings. So if you are Westerners, it will not be any problem!
And room's very fashionable, Robert and Nate are very kind and helpful, Nate is so sweet, even singing a Japanese pop band's song sang for me! Place's about 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal by bus, 30 min. on foot. Wifi is strong, no problem at all. Very convenient.
Very nice room, in nice quiet area. Good breakfast on Sat and very helpful friendly hosts! Thankyou.
My wife and I stayed three nights in June 2012. The room is as pictured, clean and quiet. Someone mentioned an open stairwell, but there are doors at the top which separate it from the rest of the house and you are entirely secluded from foot traffic; do not let the mention of the stairwell worry you in the least. The neighborhood is likewise safe and quiet. There is a really very good family owned Italian restaurant about 150 meters away, but that is one of the few restaurants or shops on Java-eiland. Unlike most European city-scapes, this area of Amsterdam is an almost entirely residential area. The bus connection to Central Station is convenient at about 150 meters and the ride is less than ten minutes. The tram at the other end of the island (about a kilometer of easy walking) seems less convenient until you realize that it will drop you directly to the big three museums, within 300 meters of the Hermitage, and ultimately just west of the Jordaan. Thus by taking it, you save a transfer and wait at Central Station and get a great site-seeing tour. Robert and Nat were excellent hosts although we saw little of them due to their work schedules. We recommend the ART Hotel
