This 1904 home at the edge of town and a short hop off the interstate has been recently completely renovated including modern plumbing, kitchen, & HVAC while highlighting the original charming woodwork, floors, and architectural features. You'll love the refreshing breezes, tranquility, and views. My location is highly desirable for medical folks, short term workers, and Jefferson college students. Walk to Elmwood Park, Jefferson college, and downtown. Carilion is only 1.5 miles away.

The space
This sunny bedroom oozes peace and tranquility. Enjoy nice city views from the bedroom and even the shower! This is the only room in the house with a private bathroom. There are 3 more bedrooms upstairs that share the other common areas with you. The house is usually filled with busy travel nurses, nursing students, medical interns, and corporate executives who are rarely home and work/study hard. Everyone here values their rare time off and the house is a CLEAN, peaceful, quiet respite. Don't book this room if you're planning to party or socialize at home. My guests are always friendly, respectful, independent, and interact cheerfully, but simply not around much. When they're home they eat, shower, and sleep and appreciate the serenity. Night shift workers are very happy here as well. Every bedroom has a separate key for security.
Don't book my place if you have trouble with steps. There is a flight of outdoor steps from the parking area to the rear entrance and another flight of steps from the main floor to the bedroom/bath area.
** For travel medical folks or other longer term guests on a budget, this room can possibly accommodate a couple at a money saving rate I'll quote privately with your inquiry.**

Guest access
You share use of all common areas: living room, kitchen, laundry room and 2 outdoor porches. No need for you to ever go upstairs where the other room mates are. Each bedroom has a separate key.

Other things to note
-I do not charge a cleaning fee for stays of 4 nights or less. But I will add on a one-time cleaning fee of $50 for stays of 5 nights or longer. I will request you to remit this at the time of your booking.
-I may consider a couple in this room for budget-conscious long term travelers for an additional fee that I'll quote privately with your inquiry. Let's discuss this.

Location

Belmont, Roanoke, Virginia

There is a wide open green space in front of the property and an alley with dense shrubbery in the back that shields the house from the rear neighbor. I own the house to the right where I host more short and long term guests. The house on the other side has been vacant with a long distance owner for many years. So this is a surprisingly peaceful quiet atmosphere right in the city. The immediate few blocks surrounding the house have large, old, mostly well kept homes. You will see a lot of diversity as you stroll the hilly neighborhoods around the house and even run into a few lower income properties depending on how far you venture. This is very typical of established neighborhoods in our little city and no cause for alarm. But if this makes you uncomfortable I recommend you book elsewhere.

I love gardening, playing bridge, the beach, travel, nature, church, learning new things & meeting new people. My friends usually describe me as creative, calm, or hilarious. I'm enjoying a more care-free life now that my 3 kids have all graduated from college, and fledging nicely. I never watch TV (or provide it for my guests) but do relax with Netflix shows, online bridge, new art projects, or a good book- often into the wee hours. I am eager to travel more again and tick things off my bucket list. Airbnb suits my talents and lifestyle and will help make my dreams come true. I have lots of unusual hobbies that I love to share: I raise butterflies in late summer, arrange flowers for weddings and other functions (and likely your room), make artwork for some local shops, garden, and bird watch year round (volunteer Master Gardener in Florida & Virginia) so I always have one or more outdoor projects going in various stages of progress. P.S. Although a bit rusty I also speak Hebrew but it's not on the language list. My French and Spanish were pretty good in high school and I will probably understand most of what you say. But I doubt I could respond very intelligibly.

During your stay
I own the house next door where I host more long & short term guests. I'll be caring for both properties. I'm very independent but happy to socialize as my time permits. I will always follow your lead and am just as happy to give you your space if you prefer. I will meet you for check in and get you settled, but after that I will not be hanging around. I will notify you well in advance when a new guest is arriving and come in unobtrusively to get their place ready, (usually when everyone is out of the house). I will always greet you with a smile and "HI" if our paths cross, but will NEVER barge in on you or interfere with your activities unless you invite me.
