What a nice stay. Nicholas is lovely, stayed up late to greet me and was up early offering coffee. The apartment is big, old and full of character, and the room is airy with all necessities and attention to detail. Simple in a sweet way. The view is beautiful.

The host is super friendly and supportive. The check-in and check-out time is flexible, and the location is convenience. Only 10 mins walk to ferry and another 20 mins to either Manhattan and Brooklyn. Especially the parking is FREE on the street at Staten Island. It's friendly neighbourhood and quite. I and my girlfriend are very enjoy the weekend stay there! We will definitely come back again!

Nicholas was a very forthcoming, generous host. He gave us great tips about places to eat and what to do on NYE. He was always available for any possible issues. His place is very well accessible, as the ferry runs frequently (every 15 or 30 mins, all night long for free) and the bus brings you right up to the building's front door. It takes the ferry around half an hour to dock onto Manhattan but the ride is worth it; you get a great view of the skyline and the statue of liberty. Nicholas offered us towels and a hair dryer, as well as adapters. The temperature during night-time was a bit tricky, as the heater didn't run perfectly - at times it would work overtime (in which case you can simply open up the window) and at others it wouldn't work (which, unfortunately, in winter was not ideal). To be on the safe side pack some warm pajamas :) Nicholas made us feel welcome and communication worked perfectly fine. Thank you, Nicholas, for welcoming us into your home!

My name is Nicholas Zvegintzov, and I’m retired. I once was an expert in software maintenance.
I’ve traveled to many strange places, but where I live is strange too – on a hill above the Staten Island Ferry Terminal with a view of the towers of New York City.
I’ve stayed with many wonderful people, and wonderful people have stayed with me. I hope you will too.
In my experience the Guest is tired, hungry, and cold, and needs to be treated for those conditions, besides being offered clean linen, a subway map, and a guide to the light switches. (Oh yes, and a shower, laundry, and internet. And a drink.)
Stay over – see New York from far and near – and I’ll try to do the same for you.
(And I highly recommend ‘Siberian BAM Guide - rail, rivers, and road / Includes North-East Russia’s Siberian BAM Railway, Lena River & Kolyma Highway’, 2nd edition, by Athol Yates and Nicholas Zvegintzov, Trailblazer Publications, UK, 2001. Or look at pictures at SiberiaBAMLena.)
Happy traveling and safe arrivals!
