1. You will get fresh linens and towels once a week on Sundays. Please use the
same towel for the week. If you need another set of linens or an extra towel
before Sunday, please ask and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.
2. Bathrooms and water usage: We have cesspools here, so we are very
conscious about excess water usage and as such we only flush the toilets when necessary. So if it’s yellow, let it mellow if it’s brown flush it down.
Additionally, please wipe down the tub after showering to be sure that excess soap is not left behind for another guest to find. You may be assigned a storage area in the bathroom for your personal shower needs if you are a long term guest. Please share with Deirdre you anticipated shower schedule. Don’t worry you will always have hot water and a shower when you need one!
2. Enjoying the outdoors: You are welcome to relax outside in the many seating areas or walk around the property. Please bring the cushions back in the house when you are done using them. Please pick up after yourself and return the seating arrangements to the condition that they were found. Seats slid under the tables etc.
3. Please be generally mindful and considerate of others. The house is fairly sound proof, with the exception of the central staircase.. voices on the staircase travel throughout the house.
4. If you open windows, please close the storms and re lock the windows before you leave for the day.. in case it rains while you are out.
5. We turn on the air-conditioning if it is over 80 degrees inside the house and the sun is down.
6. Please keep the toilet seats down.
Deirdre is a warm and thoughtful hostess; attentive but not obtrusive; the home, views and setting are beautiful. We will call on Deidre again. Thank you!
Deirdre is truly an amazing, and kind host. At the end I'd felt it was like having every amenity of a hotel but the warm welcome of staying with an old friend. She has truly thought of everything and opens the house to her guests with no reservations. Couldn't have asked for a better 1st Airbnb experience.
Deirdre is considerate and keeps a clean house. I appreciated her letting me check in late and having such nice water in the house (he uses an awesome filter). The bed was comfy too. Thanks!
I had a great stay and I can highly recommend Deirdre's lovely home. The house is overflowing with history, charm and love. The host was ever helpful, considerate and a wonderful conversationalist. I spent a couple nights in a local hotel and there was just no comparison. I will be coming back.
Loved it! Beautiful home with lovely grounds. Diedre is a caring host--very hospitable. I stayed in the Garden Room which is an enclosed porch. Great bedding, good mattress, big beefy towels. DeLongi space heater easy to manage and keeps room comfy. Half bath easy access with full bath upstairs.
Diedre makes the living room available to guests so my friend and I watched the Debates. she offered wine and we enjoyed some good conversation. She is committed to holistic health and practices what she preaches. I liked the filtered drinking water served in blue bottle. Also the fresh fruit next to the coffee/tea machine in foyer.
Charming area with boats and bay scenery . I saw a white swan in the early morning mist.
Warning: Follow the instructions carefully once you get to the Cold Spring Lab (heading east). You won't see the double mailboxes if it's dark and foggy--just watch for the "first driveway" per instructions.
This was my first experience with Airbnb and Deirdre made sure that I was safe and happy. She was very good communicating with me when her own plans needed to be changed. The accommodations were clean and quiet and the house had a gentle atmosphere. I was able to hike nearby, walk into town or to the labs easily from this location.
We really enjoyed staying with Deirdre in her remarkable house, which, as she told us, was once the rectory of the nearby church. Our room was clean and comfortable, and Deirdre was welcoming and helpful from way before our trip through our entire stay there.
