If you like what you see here but the calendar is full, please check out the other spaces available in this House of the Well: there is another adorable room with private bath; as well as the studio apartment!
PLEASE NOTE that to arrive here one must walk: either one walks up or one walks down, but walk one must. If you have any issues with stairs, either up or down, please seek other accommodations.
Lovely room with private bath, in an architectural gem of a private home. Kitchen privileges. Various sunny terraces with panoramic views of the beautiful City of Guanajuato. The only off-limits part of the house is the music room which is my workspace.
The room has two single beds which together form a queen-size bed, so that it works for a couple, for two friends travelling together, or for a single individual.
Most important of all, the great common area of the city of Guanajuato and its cultural offering, astounding for a city of this size (population ca. 175,000). Between book presentations, art openings, the university’s Cine-Club, poetry readings, concerts, and lectures on various topics, one could be occupied five nights out of seven, and two or three afternoons. Doesn’t leave much time to enjoy the increasing number of good restaurants here!
Here in the house, you are warmly invited to come up to the roof-terrace where the sun hits first in the morning; and to enjoy the sunset with a glass of something. In reality, all the public spaces in this house are here to be enjoyed: the azotea, the central patio, the little north patio with the laundry.
Really, THE ONLY OFF-LIMITS AREA IS THE PIANO ROOM WHICH IS MY OWN WORK-SPACE.
And of course, if there’s a house-concert here in the Casa del Pozo, you are warmly invited!
CLEANING: Weekly cleaning is included in your rent. If you’d like Sra Yolanda to come in and tidy up in between times, the cost is 100 pesos per cleaning.
Interaction with Guests
This is the home of a working artist. I share this space with my guests, however short or long their stay here may be. If I am here, I am as available as my work permits. And as always, if there is a concert here in this House of the Well, my guests are cordially invited!
This is a people’s and not a rich-folks’ neighbourhood, and in an Iberoamerican city, so you will hear roosters, dogs, and the occasional outburst of ranchera music; but it is all quite inoffensive. This barrio is friendly, lively, safe.
We are 8 minutes’ walk from the Jardín de la Unión and from the Juárez, Cervantes, and Principal theatres –the latter being where the Symphony performs every Friday during the university year-; as well as the Museo Iconográfico and Casa Cuatro where there are also concerts and numerous other events.
Easy access in taxi, microbús and on foot; there is also a private (locked) access coming down from the Panorámica.
Guanajuato was not built with the automobile in mind ;=)) ... Nevertheless, should you need to bring a car, with a little advance notice my neighbour just above on the Panorámica usually has an extra parking space: cost is 150 pesos / night, 350 / month; anything in between is negotiable. Public parking lots cost 12 to 15 pesos/hour. (I do not recommend finding "free" parking in a tunnel: it may well cost you the repair of your windshield.) If you arrive in a car, you will almost certainly park it and forget about it until you leave: this city is far easier to navigate walking, in public transit, or if necessary in a taxi.
Other Things to Note
I love this city very much – even knowing as I do that we have a lot of things to improve here, I love it very much. And I want the people who come here to visit, whether for three days or three months, to also have affection for it.
PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH ...

Ana's house is one of a kind. Not much can be said that already hasn't been said on here. The view is amazing and it pairs perfectly with the coffee she has from Cafe Tal. Like she mentions, it is on a hill and you have to walk but it is a pleasant one down to the Center. She is extremely knowledgable about Guanajuato and recommends many different things to do that cater to all types of personalities.
Leading up to and during our trip she was very easy to communicate with and made the logistics of everything a breeze. I do highly suggest that you have Ramiro pick you up.. He is intelligent, funny, speaks great english and is always on time to take you where you need to go.
Guanajuato was one of the most fascinating cities I have been to and staying at Ana's was the cherry on top.
This is such a great place to stay! The house and gardens are magnificent as is the million dollar view from the terrace overlooking the city. If you want a great view of the city, then this is THE place to stay.
The rooms are well equipped with everything you would need for a stay. Soap, shampoo, hairdryer, etc etc, were present just in case a traveler would forget.
Ana is great host and a very sweet person. She really went out her way to make sure we had a pleasant stay. She arranged to have us picked up at the airport; a very nice touch !
Although our stay was short, we had a great time getting to know one another and we had some really good chats along the way.
Thanks again again Ana. I will certainly come back again !
Ana will definitely remain forever attached to our memories of Guanajuato. She welcomed us with great generosity in her beautiful house, tucked in the hills overlooking the city. Her rooftop is an amazing place to contemplate Guanajuato's colors, and take your breath before throwing yourself in this wonderfully lively town, or to still hear it palpitate from afar after you've hauled yourself out of it. The room was super nice and comfortable, and the kitchen very pretty and convenient for morning coffee.
But most of all it's the few discussions we had with Ana, where she communicated her love for the city and its culture, and her list of recommendations that made the stay even more special than it already was. Guanajuato's cultural shaman, watching over the city from her piano stool, made us love our stay there.
I just can't imagine staying anywhere else in the city next time we come. La maison d'Ana est très très chaleureusement recommandée!
Anna, is indeed a superhost, and should really be a role model to other AirBnB hosts. She speaks both English and Spanish as a native language making things so much easier. Even before meeting her, the conversations with her is effortless, and pleasantly efficient.
The room is very beautiful, and comfortable. I love the bathroom (so pretty), even though —just like any other bathrooms, adjusting the perfect mix of hot and cold water requires a certain degree of math and patience. :P
The house is located in a hill, so if you have heavy luggages, you may consider some help. The benefits of it, is that it has a fantastic view of the city. Having a cup of coffee while looking down to the city during the first light is a magical moment. There are many young people drinking and smoking on the way to her house, few pesos may get your luggages issues settled. The youngsters, although they often drunk, they are harmless, and sometimes can be very friendly.
Anna provides everything a traveller needs. Travel books, guides, tips, maps, toiletries, and plenty of towels. She’s also very considerate and understanding. I easily keep on extending my stay, not only because 2 days is just obviously too short to appreciate such a beautiful city, but also because I really enjoyed the house.
I was so happy to learn that Anna is also a Fulbright scholar; talking with her is a mind opening, and there are endless of topics she and I can talk about. All being said, I can’t appreciate enough my pleasant experience staying in Anna’s house and definitely encourage other travelers to consider her house as far-away home while staying in Guanajuato.
Ana's house was very pretty. And the two dogs were just adorable . At night it was quiet and perfect for a good sleep.
The only problem for some people is it's up in the hill. So you need to have good legs to go up. Or you can take a taxi, which cost 40 for one way from the centre. And you also need to pay for the drinking water.
The photos do not do this place justice. IT IS INCREDIBLE in person! Ana is also an amazing host, generous with advice on the city and has a heart of gold. I can't wait to visit again :)
Ana went out of her way to make me welcome. She took me on a tour of the touristic center and provided me with information about events in town.
She also folded my dried clothes for me.
