About this listing
Lovely room with private bath, in architectural gem of a private home. Various sunny terraces with panoramic views of the beautiful City of Guanajuato. Kitchen privileges.
If you like what you see here but the calendar is full, please check out the other spaces available in this House of the Well: there is another adorable room with private bath; as well as the studio apartment!
PLEASE NOTE that to arrive here one must walk: either one walks up or one walks down, but walk one must. If you have any issues with stairs, either up or down, please seek other accommodations.
Lovely room with private bath, in an architectural gem of a private home. Kitchen privileges. Various sunny terraces with panoramic views of the beautiful City of Guanajuato. The only off-limits part of the house is the music room which is my workspace.
The room has two single beds which together form a queen-size bed, so that it works for a couple, for two friends travelling together, or for a single individual.
Most important of all, the great common area of the city of Guanajuato and its cultural offering, astounding for a city of this size (population ca. 175,000). Between book presentations, art openings, the university’s Cine-Club, poetry readings, concerts, and lectures on various topics, one could be occupied five nights out of seven, and two or three afternoons. Doesn’t leave much time to enjoy the increasing number of good restaurants here!
Here in the house, you are warmly invited to come up to the roof-terrace where the sun hits first in the morning; and to enjoy the sunset with a glass of something. In reality, all the public spaces in this house are here to be enjoyed: the azotea, the central patio, the little north patio with the laundry.
Really, THE ONLY OFF-LIMITS AREA IS THE PIANO ROOM WHICH IS MY OWN WORK-SPACE.
And of course, if there’s a house-concert here in the Casa del Pozo, you are warmly invited!
CLEANING: Weekly cleaning is included in your rent. If you’d like Sra Yolanda to come in and tidy up in between times, the cost is 100 pesos per cleaning.
Interaction with Guests
This is the home of a working artist. I share this space with my guests, however short or long their stay here may be. If I am here, I am as available as my work permits. And as always, if there is a concert here in this House of the Well, my guests are cordially invited!
This is a people’s and not a rich-folks’ neighbourhood, and in an Iberoamerican city, so you will hear roosters, dogs, and the occasional outburst of ranchera music; but it is all quite inoffensive. This barrio is friendly, lively, safe.
We are 8 minutes’ walk from the Jardín de la Unión and from the Juárez, Cervantes, and Principal theatres –the latter being where the Symphony performs every Friday during the university year-; as well as the Museo Iconográfico and Casa Cuatro where there are also concerts and numerous other events.
Easy access in taxi, microbús and on foot; there is also a private (locked) access coming down from the Panorámica.
Guanajuato was not built with the automobile in mind ;=)) ... Nevertheless, should you need to bring a car, with a little advance notice my neighbour just above on the Panorámica usually has an extra parking space: cost is 150 pesos / night, 350 / month; anything in between is negotiable. Public parking lots cost 12 to 15 pesos/hour. (I do not recommend finding "free" parking in a tunnel: it may well cost you the repair of your windshield.) If you arrive in a car, you will almost certainly park it and forget about it until you leave: this city is far easier to navigate walking, in public transit, or if necessary in a taxi.
Other Things to Note
I love this city very much – even knowing as I do that we have a lot of things to improve here, I love it very much. And I want the people who come here to visit, whether for three days or three months, to also have affection for it.

Ana went out of her way to make me welcome. She took me on a tour of the touristic center and provided me with information about events in town.
She also folded my dried clothes for me.
Ana is a super awesome host and the house is lovely, very Mexican style. There are two lovely dogs in the house. The house looks exactly like the pictures on Airbnb. Ana waited us for more than 1 hour since our bus was delayed, but she is super nice. After we arrived Ana took us on a little tour around the downtown, recommended some amazing restaurants and shops to us. It's really helpful. Guanajuato is a gorgeous and colorful city and we really enjoyed our staying there.
yes yes yes! my experience staying with Ana is what made my trip to Guanajuato practically as wonderful as it possibly could have been. She is such a welcoming host- and her passion and love for her hometown is contagious. Her house itself is beyond words.. chock full of interesting flora (and fauna :)) and tastefully and artfully decorated to the finest detail, not to mention being built into the side of a mountain, it is one of the most interesting (and inviting) places i've stayed in 10 years of travel (it's also extremely conveniently located near what became some of my favorite squares/cafes/hang outs in town.. eat at Los Campos!)
Ana was incredible, Ana's home was incredible. Staying in her beautiful place just about made my trip to Mexico. The location is perfect, the views majestic, and Ana is a kind, thoughtful + very helpful host.
I recommend this place to anyone who doesn't mind a steep walk and who wants to really see the city in all its splendor!
Outstanding stay in a beautiful city! Ana was an exceptional host, even gave us a little tour of the city so we would find our bearings. An amazing home that you are truly welcomed into. The house was definitely a part of the trip. The views each morning and night on the rooftop are amazing and the 10 min walk up and down to the town is enjoyable. Bed extremely comfortable, spacious bedroom and an amazing shower. I highly recommend a stay at Ana's...we will be back!
Our experience at Ana's was wonderful. We enjoyed our time there immensely. The room was very clean, bed was comfortable, and the devote/architecture of the room was amazing. Ana is an amazing host and very welcoming. She shares her wealth of knowledge of Guanajuato making your trip rich in culture and history. The house is a short walk to town 10 minutes. Beautiful views. And very safe. I defiantly recommend Ana's for your stay in Guanajuato. Truly an amazing city. A hidden gem.
Romerio picked us up at the airport. Defiantly worth the extra money. He goes the extra mile to make your stay a good one. He gave us a tour of the city and even ate dinner with us. A very sweet man.
Ana facilitated well our stay at her beatiful authentic house close to Guanajuato historical center. She gave us comprehensive instructions to facilitate our arrival and stay and helped us feel comfortable. Her house offers nice authentic and typical room and there is a balcony on the roof which shows a stunning view on the city. Her house is convenient to visit Gto at walking distance from the historical center. We did everything by foot. Guanajuato is a very authentic colonial town. It's great to walk in the street and visit the old spanyard buildings. It's a big enough town to have a wealthy historical arhitecture and small enough to visit by feet and enjoy the warmness of the people there. Let's say it's a "Grande pueblo"!
