Lovely room with private bath, in architectural gem of a private home. Various sunny terraces with panoramic views of the beautiful City of Guanajuato. Kitchen privileges.

The space

If you like what you see here but the calendar is full, please check out the other spaces available in this House of the Well: there is another adorable room with private bath; as well as the studio apartment!

PLEASE NOTE that to arrive here one must walk: either one walks up or one walks down, but walk one must. If you have any issues with stairs, either up or down, please seek other accommodations.

Lovely room with private bath, in an architectural gem of a private home. Kitchen privileges. Various sunny terraces with panoramic views of the beautiful City of Guanajuato. The only off-limits part of the house is the music room which is my workspace.

The room has two single beds which together form a queen-size bed, so that it works for a couple, for two friends travelling together, or for a single individual.

Guest access

Most important of all, the great common area of the city of Guanajuato and its cultural offering, astounding for a city of this size (population ca. 175,000). Between book presentations, art openings, the university’s Cine-Club, poetry readings, concerts, and lectures on various topics, one could be occupied five nights out of seven, and two or three afternoons. Doesn’t leave much time to enjoy the increasing number of good restaurants here!

Here in the house, you are warmly invited to come up to the roof-terrace where the sun hits first in the morning; and to enjoy the sunset with a glass of something. In reality, all the public spaces in this house are here to be enjoyed: the azotea, the central patio, the little north patio with the laundry.
Really, THE ONLY OFF-LIMITS AREA IS THE PIANO ROOM WHICH IS MY OWN WORK-SPACE.
And of course, if there’s a house-concert here in the Casa del Pozo, you are warmly invited!
CLEANING: Weekly cleaning is included in your rent. If you’d like Sra Yolanda to come in and tidy up in between times, the cost is 100 pesos per cleaning.

Interaction with guests

This is the home of a working artist. I share this space with my guests, however short or long their stay here may be. If I am here, I am as available as my work permits. And as always, if there is a concert here in this House of the Well, my guests are cordially invited!

Other things to note

I love this city very much – even knowing as I do that we have a lot of things to improve here, I love it very much. And I want the people who come here to visit, whether for three days or three months, to also have affection for it.

Ana was such a gracious host. Very kind and generous with her home. She took time to give me a slight tour of the city and was generous enough to offer coffee and for me to use her food to make breakfast. Her view of he city from her home is spectacular ! The room was very nice and homey and had a full bathroom. Great privacy. Be ready to walk but enjoy the experience as well!

Wonderful view of the town from the roof terrace. Comfortable room. Ana is very communicative, open and friendly. We enjoyed her top recommended restaurant Los Campos. It's small though, so it's good to make reservations at least on the weekend. Lots of stairs, but I liked the exercise. And she has the sweetest dogs!

We had a wonderful stay with Ana. She was a very gracious hostess, taking time to walk us around Guanajuato and gave us tons of tips. Her house is one of the most unique places I've stayed with great vibes and an incredible view. She has two adorable dogs and a friendly cat who made our stay all the better. We felt very welcomed and at home and I sincerely hope we get the chance to visit her again!

It is magical and unconventional, two things I require when traveling. I loved it all. It's not for people who have walking trouble, or for people who enjoy a more conventional travel experience (it's not a conventional hotel in the middle of a tourist district next to a Starbucks). And the only way in is to hike a bit up the hill - but I find this wonderful. A little oasis in the city. Can't wait to come back!

My Stay in Guanajuato with Ana was most memorable and one of the nicest places I have stayed. As Ana notes in her description her casa is perched just above the city center a very quick but elevated walk to centro. The upshot is not just proximity but a stunning view overlooking this beautiful city. The dormitorio was wonderful with a vaulted brick ceiling and interesting art and very comfortable. But aside from the location, views and decor was Ana and her Perros (all of whom I miss!). Unlike any other home I have stayed in I was fortunate enough to stay while Ana gave a piano recital for a small audience in preparation for a larger concert she would be performing in the coming weeks. A program of contemporary female classical composers, her performances and the pieces all amazing. A magical evening. A great stay. Location notes: I would forgo the Museo de la Momias (really underwhelming) and also the temple at Valenciana if you have seen many other Iglesias. Plenty to see in centro and if a coffee seeker the famous Cafe Tal and also Cafe Conquistador near the Diego Rivera house museo. I look forward to returning.

If you stay at Ana's home you will not be disappointed, its a hidden gem in this magical city of Guanajuato. if you like the terrace view , wait until you see it in person. The panoramic view is breathtaking both day and night. Wish we could have stayed longer at her place. It was a last minute trip and our first time booking with Air b&b. Our host Ana made it a positive experience, she was prompt in answering all our questions and communicating all the information needed prior to our arrival. If this is your first time visiting Guanajuato , we strongly suggest having Ana's driver pick you up. Her home is about a 10 minute walk to the city center and many historical sites. If you want to experience the culture, beautiful architecture and the best panoramic view we suggest staying at Ana's home.

This was my first trip to Guanajuato and Ana made my stay very special. She took the time to show me her favorite cafe's, walking to town (lots of steps!!), and helped arrange for a driver from the airport to her home. She is absolutely the best host I have ever had. The bedrooms are apart from the main house so there is a lot of privacy. She has two sweet dogs and a rooftop patio with views of the city that are outstanding. But the best surprise was listening to her play the piano as she rehearsed for an upcoming concert tour. A brilliant, creative woman and world class pianist. She made my first trip to Guanajuato absolutely beyond expectations.
