About this listing
This is a great place to stay! The home is modest, and the host is warm, friendly, helpful and easy-going. She'll probably even let you in on some local Asheville secrets.
Conveniently located only 3 miles from downtown Asheville, this chic, artsy bedroom can accommodate 1 or 2 visitors. Although you will need a car (or take the bus) to get to most places, everything is located within a short drive from the house, Comfortable twin size beds (with all the trimmings) await you. House is light, bright and sunny, especially your room with its south-facing windows. There are hardwood floors, a washer & dryer, cable TV, DVD player, and a strong wireless internet. You have full access to the kitchen (and entire house) to cook your vegetarian meals. Nothing is fancy, but all of your basic needs will be met in a friendly, caring manner. Again, this is just a small, basic house. Do not expect bells and whistles!
Did you notice the beautiful original artwork hanging on the walls? The art was created by my famous New York artist friend, Carole Antun. You can purchase her art work from right off the walls, or I can send it to your home … just ask!
Asheville has much to offer, so it's no wonder that our president, other dignitaries and celebrities vacation here often. This cozy home is located in the heart of it all. It takes less than ten minutes to drive downtown to hear (or join in with) drummers at the drumming circle. Less than five minutes drive to trendy Haywood Rd. with its great cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, local beer breweries, theaters and music. Ten minutes to the River Arts District, where local artist will dazzle and seduce you with their creativity. The bus stops nearby, and you can walk 1 block to the park and swimming pool. This is a very old and safe neighborhood.
Did you know that Asheville is ranked the number 3 city in the WORLD for the happiness of the people living here? The top 2 cities are not in the U.S. We will smile at you, speak to you, help you, and even wait patiently if you dart out in front of us in traffic. We love it here, and so will you!
In Asheville, buying local is "in." In fact, we say "local is the new black." We are into permaculture, sustainability, simplicity, healthy living, organic food, creativity and self-expression. My home (as is this city) is lesbian and gay friendly.
I hold a jam session here on some Sunday evenings during nice weather. If your stay includes a jam session, you will be lucky enough to sample some of Asheville's greatest musicians. (And, boy, do they taste good!) You are invited to bring your instrument and join the fun, or just come listen. Maybe you will dance with me.
One of my favorite things to do is to help newcomers explore and navigate this magnificent city, especially those planning to move here. I love to tell you where the local "hot spots" are, and send (or take you to) some of my favorite places.
Although not overly noisy, this house is located within the city limits of Asheville. So, you may hear some occasional and typical noises of city life.
The bathroom is shared. There is plenty of well-lighted off-street parking, even room for large recreational vehicles. Smoking must be done outdoors, and no pets are allowed. Add $25 to the room rate for a second person.
I hope to see you soon!

Rosemary was a very laid back, gracious and last but not least, generous host. She really takes the time to make sure all accommodations, questions/concerns are addressed and does a great job of making her guests feel at home. Her property is a very homely place to stay, with great location to not only the downtown area, but many other amenities to create a more personal touch to a visitor's stay. I highly recommend using Rosemary if you're planning on staying in Asheville, NC.
Rosemary was very welcoming and happy to find out what I was interested in doing. She then wrote a great list for me, I was able to travel about exploring her recommendations. She knows the community very well and seems very connected. People around town know her and think highly of her. I can see why. She was spot on in all of her recommendations and she lead me to all the right activities and hot spots and obscure things like...best juice bar. She is delightful, wise and inspiring. She has a great story about healing herself and offers her wisdom when asked. She does not push any of that on you.
The room was adequate. Simple, clean and comfortable. Nothing elaborate, but all you need. It was comfortable sharing a bathroom with her and there was never an overlap. It is in a location that requires you to drive to your destinations. It's not too far from anything.
Rosemary was a wonderful host! Her home was easily accessible to downtown, and she was extremely responsive. I hope to see her again when I return to Asheville!!
Rosemary was a great host - she was sweet, kind, and shared her home willingly with us. The room is bright and sunny and we woke up energized for the day by all the sunlight coming in! The house is cute and cozy. The house is right off a main road that leads straight into Downtown Asheville and is a quick 2-3 mile (~8 minutes) drive. We were usually up and gone in the morning only to come back late in the evening but Rosemary was wonderful about leaving towels for us in the room and saying goodnight when we saw her! We needed a cozy, safe place to stay and it was great for that.
Rosemary was incredibly sweet and helpful even given how late I made the reservation and how long it took me to get there. Her recommendations were good and she was very thoughtful.
Hello all. I recently stayed with Rosemary for a few days. She greeted me warmly, made me feel very comfortable, and was overall, a wonderful host. Her place is right off Patton, and about four or five minutes from downtown. She has been in Asheville for awhile, and is a wealth of information on the town and the people in it. Rosemary will be as engaging as you would like... open to conversation at any time, yet she is very respectful of your privacy should you wish to chill in private. I would stay with her again without a moment's hesitation. Thank you Rosemary!
Staying at Rosemary's house was like staying with someone you've known a long time. It was warm and inviting, a clean atmosphere and lots of light. Her neighborhood is safe and my friends had no time finding it. She has enough space for another car, if you have one. To my delight, we also had a lot of things in common and I now consider her a friend.
Rosemary was easy to communicate with by email and phone, and made sure I had everything I needed when I arrived. Plenty of towels and linens and she even asked me if I preferred air conditioning or natural air. I SO appreciated that!

About the Host, Rosemary
I am a writer and public speaker. I write about health and natural healing. I have an obsession with it, and love to teach it to others without being dogmatic or preachy about it.
Physically - I'm still a beautiful teenager on the inside ... 50-ish on the outside. I like swimming, working jigsaw puzzles and shooting pool. I love to hear live music and dance! That's why I host a jam session in my back yard on weekends. What fun that is! Asheville has some AMAZING musicians!
Spiritually - I am a light, mystical, and peaceful soul. I meditate daily, and seek spiritual growth. My spirit soars in these beautiful mountains. I love it here in AWESOME ASHEVILLE!
Mentally - I am sound. I like to surround myself with good friends and laugh a lot. I attend and give parties often. I love nature, and gardening helps me keep my feet on the ground ... literally.
Emotionally - I am loving and giving, a nurturer by nature. I am known to anticipate the needs of others before they know for themselves. That's why I make a great host!
