The Berlin Artist Apartment,

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Simon Dach Straße, Berlin, Berlin 10245, Germany

The Space

An art filled 77m2, two bedroom holiday apartment rental in Berlin’s hip Friedrichshain district, in the former East Berlin. The apartment is situated in the heart of the famous Simon Dach Strasse, a vibrant tree-lined street filled to the brim with street cafes, restaurants and great bars. Walk to the 02 stadium, walk to the largest left over of the Berlin Wall, and great transport options anywhere.

The apartment sleeps up to six people. The first spacious bedroom has a king size bed and private lounge, HDTV with cable, lamps and thick velvet curtains. The second light filled bedroom is smaller with single bed that pulls out to double. The living room has a large 3 seater couch that can fold out to a double bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, all appliances, and dining table for eight. The large open plan living room has another HDTV with cable and oversized couch, as well as another 3 seater lounge that can be converted to a single bed if needed. The bathroom has a fullbath/shower. The apartment has a free wifi internet connection.

The Berlin Artist Apartment is situated in a pre-war apartment building in the heart Berlin’s Friedrichshain district, east of Alexanderplatz. It is perhaps the last resort for Berlin’s famous alternative subculture. The streets culture is colourful and vibrant: Left over artist squats merge with imposing monumental Stalin-era buildings. Late-nineteenth century apartment buildings, galleries, alternative bars, clubs and cafes permeate the streets. Simon Dach Strasse is a popular spot with students, artists, young families as well as young Berliners.

The front of the apartment building has a liquor and convenience shop, a fantastic bakery, café and icecream shop. Nearby Boxhagener platz hosts the fantastic farmers market on Wednesday and Saturday, and the famous flea market on the Sunday. There are a range of supermarkets nearby.

Many more cultural, sporting and shopping options are also within walking or cycling distance. A walk away is the “East Side Gallery”, the largest remaining section of the wall, saved by artists who’ve turned it into a canvas for their work. There is also the 02 stadium, just a walk away, as well as berlin's most famous clubs.

By far the best way to experience Berlin is by bike however the apartment is a walk away for all types of transport. The underground station (U-bahn – U5) and overground station (S-bahn S9. S41, S42, ) are a five minute walk from the apartment. The apartment has a direct trainline to schonefeld airport. Alexanderplatz is about five minutes by train or a 10 minute bike ride. Nearby public transport connections mean that favourites such as Berlin’s TV tower, shopping in Hackescher Markt or the Reichstag and Brandenburg gate are 15 minutes away.

This apartment gets fantastic reviews. You won't be disappointed!

Check In
  • Wonderful place! Spacious and fully equipped for a short or long term stay. The location is incredible. I lived in Berlin last year for 7 months and its one of my favorite neighborhoods, a good mix of local people and places and tourist spots. Centrally located next to Ubahn (subway) and strassebahn (trams) stations so its easy to go explore Berlin. Tina and HP were nice and very easy to commicate with. They were flexible about check in and check out times and even provide a guide to the city and many books on Berlin. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Berlin.

  • This was only our second air bnb experience and it has definitely sold us on it as a way of finding great places to stay without costing the earth. The artist's apartment was absolutely lovely, in a fantastic location close to the tram, train, food, markets and a number of sites in east Berlin which were all easy to get to by foot. Being 2 floors up was much better than the 3 or 4 flights of stairs we have had to deal with since and Hans-Peter very kindly helped us with our luggage. Communication with both Tina and HP was excellent despite us not having a phone. The compendium that Tina provides guests is excellent and the wi fi can be used to (website hidden) anything else you might need, like a laundromat to dry your clothes, which we found was just down the road. As a family of 4 who hadn't done any washing for a week it was great to be able to do some washing and then take it to get it dried all at once! There is so much cheap and yummy food nearby that we hardly needed to cook but there is everything in the flat that you would need if you did. Thanks Tina and HP, we loved Berlin and would definitely stay here again, but maybe at a different time of year when the sun doesn't come up at 5am!

  • Everything was as expected!
The apartment was well-decorated and comfy. I like the "ostalgic" style and Friedrichshain "Kiez" is the perfect neighbourhhood to hang around and chill out in east-fashion bars and good restaurants.
Tina was really helpful and she sent us a pratical and useful compendium before our arrival.

  • What a fantastic place, only rivalled by the ease at which it was to communicate with not only Tina, but Marcus and Christina who ensured that the process of checking in was easy and seamless.

The apartment itself exudes passion, be it the beautiful, thought provoking art work and decoration or the fantastic, large main bedroom and functional and spacious kitchen the apartment was perfect for the 4 1/2 of us: 2 parents, 2 grandparents and a 2 year old.

Add a flat panel LCD TV, superfast wireless broadband and the most awesome shower and you have all the makings of 4 1/2 star accommodation at 2 star prices.

As far as location goes Friedrichschien is surrounded by beautiful and affordable restaurants, bakeries and bottle shops. Quite beyond all of this is the vibe that flows through the area: relaxed, progressive and inquisitive - arguably a true microcosm of Berlin.

Thankyou Tina - it was our pleasure to stay here.

  • Our stay at Tina's Artists's apartment in Friedrichshein could not have been a better start to our holiday. The apartment is located a short walk from all forms of public transport and situated in a neighbourhood filled with good, inexpensive restaurants, bakeries, bottleshops and a few bars/clubs. The apartment is on the second floor in a gorgeous block which is a lovely and quiet place to relax or catch up on some zzzs after a hard day's walking.

The apartment itself is truly a unique place with Tina's artistic touch evident in everything from the walls to the furniture. We had all the comforts of home (big bed, beautiful shower, washing machine, wifi etc). Tina has put together an extensive book which lists things to do, places to eat and a few tips which we found extremely useful.

The apartment manager (Marcus) met us on our arrival and was also extremely helpful with his suggestions for the area.

This was our first ever Airbnb experience and we are officially converts! We would highly recommend Tina's place to anyone looking for a truly unique stay in Berlin. You won't be disappointed.
