A beautiful and rustic setting off the beaten path. Be prepared to figure everything out yourself when you get there b/c no real clear instructions.

Response from Sophia:
While Marjorie is justified and right in her comments, and my life issues are not my guests', I want to apologize and say that this was not a typical situation for my guests. I was away in AZ visiting my ill son on last minute plans, in the hospital, and overwhelmed with my travel preparations and hurried departure. Normally, I go to great efforts to prepare and be present with every detail being taken care of, being quite cognizant that the rustic nature and isolation of the house is a bit overwhelming for many visitors. I should have been in closer contact all the more b/c of this atypical situation, and for that I'm sorry.

Sophie was a great host and very accommodating with our late arrival time. Although most our meals were accounted for elsewhere during our stay she had made a wide range of snacking and breakfast items available to us. While in a remote setting, her beautiful post and beam home …

Sophie was a great host and had a cozy home in the woods. She was welcoming (delicious coffee waiting for me in the morning) and accommodating to my needs. The setting in the woods was amazing, quiet, lots of stars. She recommended a terrific path for my morning run.

Response from Sophia:
Thanks so much Linda. I appreciated your feedback too. I also had just started thinking about a new mattress! All the other guest mattresses are newer. The dilemma is a bigger bed too, but that additional part may be just too much work and $$! Too bad my favorite special bedding store sold and cleared out this summer, so I'm looking around.

I stayed at Sophie's three nights over UMass graduation weekend. From the minute I walked in the door to a final hug goodbye, my visit was like being at home. Only a much nicer home, and with a fairy godmother to make sure I had everything I needed and that I was comfortable and …

Sophie is a generous and helpful host. She was able to help us out at very short notice, which was very helpful. Sophie’s home is a beautiful timber framed house with an awesome fireplace and chimney. Her house is filled with art of all kinds, including displays from her grandc…

Thanks Rachel, for your generous warm review. You slept on the "floor bed" and still declared being warm! So glad. And you are so right about those GPS signals out here. I warn everyone that we seem to be off the grid in more ways than just gas and water (well and propane here!) but many seem to be heedless, until...! So instead of relying on GPS for that final ascent of Butter Hill, just rely on my prompts :) and you'll find me the first time, especially with the lights! (At Motel 66 we leave the lights on for you!)
