This modern and spotless double room is perfect for single guests or couples. In a quiet street by the river, close to Canary Wharf and the City of London, it has brilliant transport links and comes with private WC / shower room and friendly hosts.
Located in a modern spacious Limehouse apartment, you will also have use of kitchen and shared living room with TV, super-fast WiFi, and a sunny balcony overlooking quiet courtyard. Secure parking is available by negotiation.
In London location is everything and this property is in a prime spot for business visitors and tourists alike. Canary Wharf is within 10 minutes walk, and the City (the heart of London's financial district) is just two stops - 5 minutes - on the DLR.
The apartment is located on historic Narrow Street, and restaurants, riverside pubs and local shops are all within 5 minutes walk. These include The Grapes, a traditional docklands riverside pub once frequented by Charles Dickens and Samuel Pepys, and now owned by Sir Ian Mckellen, and The Narrow, a Gordon Ramsay gastro-pub overlooking the river and the attractive Limehouse marina.
Limehouse is a safe and friendly residential neighbourhood, and we are right in the centre of this established and vibrant community. Transport links are numerous and excellent with Limehouse and Westferry DLR stations both within 5 minutes walk (Limehouse station also provides access to the national railway network). London underground connections are available at Canary Wharf (Jubilee line - aprox 10 minutes walk). Or take the Thames Clipper riverboat service (a superb way to travel) west to Tower Bridge, the West End and all central London attractions, or east to historic Greenwich and the O2 Arena. Alternatively just pick up a "Boris bike" close by, and go wherever you please at your leisure!
We are perfectly located for autumn and Christmas shopping or sight-seeing trips. All London Premier League football stadiums and other sports venues and Exhibition Centres (including the Olympic Park, O2 Arena, Excel, Lords and The Oval cricket grounds) are also easily accessible.
We would be delighted to welcome you to our home and to assist your stay in this fascinating part of our wonderful city.
The room comes with a private shower room with WC, and access to our super-fast Wi-Fi broadband. Kitchen facilities are available for guests to use, as are our living and dining areas and satellite TV. A car parking space in the on site secure garage can also be made available by prior negotiation.
Interaction with Guests
We are keen to get to know a little about our guests and view this as part of the fun of Airbnb.
Limehouse is a quiet residential neighbourhood. One of our first guests described it as a "gentrified corner of London", and we feel it has just the right mix of city buzz combined with peace and quiet. We are away from busy main roads and right by the river, but public transport links are excellent, local shops are on the doorstep, and Canary Wharf (immediately to the East) and the City of London (two miles to the west) are barely a stone's throw away.
Transport links are abundant; within a few minutes walk we have connections to the Docklands Light Railway, London Underground, London Overground, National Rail Network, Thames River Services and the Boris Bike Network. In addition there are countless red bus services and black London taxis which will take you wherever you wish to go.
This is a no smoking property! We are on the 4th floor and have wood floors in some rooms, so to respect our neighbours, please remove outdoor shoes when entering the apartment. You are welcome to share use of the kitchen and living facilities to cook, wash clothes (in reasonable quantities!) or simply to sit and read, watch a film or enjoy a glass of wine. We ask only that you keep and leave everything in the spotless condition in which you will find it.
In order to verify your ID, please note that on arrival we will wish to see and take a copy of your current passport.
Lovely host, very cosy, clean and great room, perfect location (3 minutes to DLR). I can only recommend!
Both Duncan and Elaine made me feel welcome in their immaculate home. The room was both as described and pictured and I would be happy to stay there again. I live in the area so it is hard for me to be objective, but if anyone is looking for a quiet neighbourhood to stay in that is close to Canary Wharf or indeed the city with your own shower room then this is perfect.
we were welcomed very warmly. Duncan offered us a drink as soon as we arrived. Everything was very confortable : the bedroom, a separate bathroom and the kitchen where we had free access to everything for breakfast. We had a few chats with Elaine and Duncan who are very friendly people. We would recommend their home if we were asked.
On contacting Duncan for directions he was friendly and helpful.
On arriving we were given a warm welcome by Duncan and his wife, Elaine.
Our room was very comfortable and our shower room modern and clean.
We were encouraged to feel at home in their lovely flat.
We enjoyed our stay and I feel confident to recommend others to book.
My first time staying with Duncan and, depending on availability, it won't be my last. A very nice couple and a very nice place. Thank you for providing just what i needed.
We had a very enjoyable one week stay at this beautiful flat, with all of the great features as described. The hosts are exceptionally thoughtful, friendly and organized. The neighborhood is pleasant and convenient--getting to an event at the ExCel was a short walk and quick ride on the DLR. A perfect airbnb experience! I would jump at the chance to stay at Duncan's again!
Clean and organize home. Bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is very clean as well as kitchen.
The house is really close to tube station.
I highly recommend and will stay here again if I visit London.
I am a professional lawyer working in central London and Elaine (my wife) is a professional in the healthcare sector. We are both keen and active sports persons, Elaine plays hockey while my sporting passions are cricket and football.
