Tom's Retreat is a luxury two-bedroom spacious loft style condo in the gorgeous Whiskey Landing building on the harbour in the traditional territories of the Yuułuʔiłʔath people. A tranquil place for a relaxing escape with features inspired by nature, it boasts the unique west coast cedar post & beam design. Located in an historic part of town, the harbour is an active port for charter fishing, eco-tours, kayak/SUP adventures, & wildlife such as eagles, sea lions, otters, & other marine life.

The space
Tom's Retreat is the perfect place for a restful getaway. The atmosphere of the space and building is that of calm and quiet, and can feel like you’re tucked away in a tree house.

The condo has many windows and skylights letting in lots of natural light, even on the more atmospheric west coast days.

The space is fully furnished and has a full kitchen with high quality amenities. It’s perfect for 1 to 6 people with 1 king bedroom, 1 queen bedroom, and a double sofa-bed in the living room.

The main bedroom has harbour views and is a wonderful way to start every day on a vacation. You may even wake up to see the seals and seagulls tussling to claim their food as the tug boats make deliveries at the nearby fisheries dock. The room also has a single person jet tub which is a great way to unwind after a day of exploring.

Tom’s Retreat aims to be as locally focused and environmentally friendly as possible. Locally made Mint Cleaning products are supplied for hand & dish soap, and their all purpose cleaner is used for cleaning. In the shower you will find Canadian made organic Oneka brand Cedar-Sage body wash/shampoo & conditioner. All of these products are supplied from The Den, which is a zero waste body & household goods refillery located on the ground floor of the building. For laundry, B.C. made Tru Earth Eco Strips are used.

There is fast and reliable fibre optic WIFI internet (170+ mbps up & down). Great for streaming shows and movies on quiet nights in, or if you’re on a work trip.

Apple TV+, Netflix, Prime Video, CraveTV with HBO, Disney+, Samsung TV Plus, KidsTV, & Telus Optik Digital (cable) with many music channels is provided for your enjoyment.

Where you’ll be

Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada

The ground level of the building has retail spaces which includes the Cedar House Gallery featuring First Nation’s art, Rubio with jewellery & hand blown glass, and The Den, a zero waste body and household goods refillery, whose products are used at Tom’s Retreat.

Right across the street is the Ucluelet Aquarium (open March to November), which is a must do. It is a catch and release aquarium, which means they release the sea-life back to the ocean at the end of the season.

There is a small green space nearby to enjoy a picnic. The area is quite active in the summer months with events and markets, and the harbour is bustling.

A short walk up to Peninsula Road (the Main Street) is the only supermarket, as well as many locally owned shops. You'll find cafes, restaurants, liquor stores, a pet store, a coffee roaster, and a brewery. Once you check in, you won't need your car to enjoy the town.

A short drive away are many forest trails, coastal walks, sandy beaches, and the Pacific Rim National Park. So much to explore on land, or get out on the water with one of the local eco-tours.

The town of Tofino is about 30 minutes north and is also a must visit destination while on the west coast.

Visit or web search the Ucluelet and Tofino tourism organizations for lots of recommendations for activities, adventures, and places to eat.

There is no electric vehicle charging station onsite but there are four in the general area. One of them is across the road from the property.

I came to Canada in 2010 on a 2 year visa and found myself in Tofino 3 weeks after arriving. I fell in love with the area, and have lived here year-round ever since. I love to travel and eat! :P
