The Cottage at Fruit Hill is nestled between our peach and apple orchards on my family’s 12 acre farm. Take a stroll through the peach blossoms, pick from our sunflower patch, enjoy some private time in the orchards during the fall, and gaze at our Christmas lights display in December. This charming cottage was originally built in the 1940’s and has recently been updated to be as comfortable for our guests as possible. Come enjoy a peaceful getaway at the orchard!
The space
The Cottage at Fruit Hill Orchard is the perfect family friendly getaway - a huge back deck with a fire pit and large back, front, and side yards are great for enjoying meals and time outdoors together with friends and family.
On the first floor, there is the queen bedroom and a twin bedroom with a second twin trundle. If your reservation has 8 guests listed, the trundle will be made up for you. For any reservations with 7 or fewer guests, you can find spare sheets for the trundle in the closet of the smaller downstairs bedroom. On the second floor, there is a full sized bed in one room, and another queen sized bed in the other.
Guest access
Guests will have access to our orchards while our farm stand is open during harvest (mid July-early November) and when we are closed for the regular season if you arrange your private time prior to or upon your arrival. Our farm stand is off limits unless we are open for business. There is a massive back deck and back and side yards that you will have complete access to.
Other things to note
Our amenities list includes breakfast. The breakfast is a dozen farm fresh eggs as well as free Apple Cider Donuts when we are open. We have a standard rip coffee maker as well as a Nespresso. A small bag of coffee, coffee filters, and Nespresso pods are provided.

We open for the year MID-LATE JULY
The Market Closes for the regular season in EARLY NOVEMBER (the first Saturday of November is usually our last day open) but reopens for the Christmas Season the day after Thanksgiving.
Our regular season market is open Monday - Saturday 10am-6pm.
Our Christmas season hours are Tues-Sat 12-7pm
Our busiest time of year at the orchard is usually weekends in late September and October. Expect for there to be more traffic in the driveway during that time. There is a fence between the cottage and the driveway to provide some privacy from our customers. Please be mindful while driving to and from the cottage when we are open- watch for playing children and tractors!

Our cottage is within 30 minutes of UVA, downtown Charlottesville, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, dozens of wineries, breweries, our very own orchards, and more. You will also be less than 5 minutes from Pleasant Grove Park with over 20 miles of trails, access and boat ramps to the Rivanna River, and some of Fluvanna’s best restaurants. The cottage is the perfect location for those wanting to stay somewhere fun and unique that’s a little off the beaten path, while still being close to so many local attractions!

Hi! I am the manager of Fruit Hill Orchard’s retail store and our Airbnb, The Cottage at Fruit Hill. My parents, Barbara and Terry, are fourth generation apple growers, and I’m fifth generation. Our family started Fruit Hill Orchard in Winchester, VA in 1929, and our small branch of Fruit Hill started in Fluvanna County, VA in 2000. We are so excited to be adding on to our business by offering our farm stay experience through Airbnb!
