I can't say enough positive things about Annette's place! The pictures in her posting don't do it justice....
Not only is it beautifully decorated but it feel like home.... The apartment itself is in a great location close to the subway and local markets which is a huge plus in my book. Annette goes that extra mile to make you feel comfortable as her guest which is why I would strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
Another great stay at House on Henry. Clean to a high standard, cozy, fully equipped kitchen (though I still can't figure out how the broiler (grill, in English) works).
Other guests have complained about the proximity to the expressway - this hasn't been a problem for my partner and I either of the times we've stayed here. I think you would only really notice the noise if you live on a mountain where it's always deathly quiet. Otherwise, if you live in a regular town or city, I don't think you'll have a problem. And you can always wear earplugs. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite last year, and the 2nd floor suite this year. If you are wondering which to pick, they are kind of the same. The 2nd floor has more space in the second bedroom, so this is probably the best choice if you have kids, but there is more kitchen counter space in the 3rd floor suite. I preferred some of the furniture in the 3rd floor suite, but this is just my taste.
The walk to the subway takes 10 minutes, and it's through beautiful Carroll Gardens, it is always a pleasant walk. It is a safe area, and I personally prefer it to Park Slope.
This year a couple of light bulbs didn't work when we arrived, but we emailed Annette in the morning, and it was resolved that day while we were out enjoying NY. I recommend these two suites, and would happily stay there again. The benefits are the space and hotel-standard cleanliness, at half the price you'd pay in town for a closet! I've given it 4 stars but I really mean 4 and 3/4, there just wasn't an option to do this!
The reservation was canceled 15 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great stay at Annette's apt! Spacious living room , dining area and a nicely furnished kitchen.
This is a lovely apartment and Annette is a very welcoming host, we arrived late on Saturday night and it wasn't a problem. Would recommend.
Annette's apartment is very clean and lovingly furnished. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom very spacious. Unfortunately, however, it is on block that is very close to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and therefore it is very loud at most times of the day and night.
This (Jan 26-Feb 5, 2014) is the second time I have stayed at House on Henry. There will be a third and a fourth and, maybe, a fifth. Annette is the ideal host and her second-floor apartment is a comfortable and - yes - homely place. The only shame about being in New York is that one is always out, so there is not much time to spend at home, let alone use the kitchen or entertain guests for dinner.
It was bitter winter this time. Snow fell, my daughter and I slipped and slid along Henry Street, but it was always a comfort to know that House in Henry was at the beginning or the end of our days.
A great place. I highly recommend it. Spotlessly clean and well-furnished. Our host was extremely thoughtful and responsive with arrangements and logistics. We definitely would return.
We rented both apartments for 8 days for 6 people and had a really good time. We felt sad to leave and would return anytime we needed a place to stay in Brooklyn for more than two people. The apartment is sufficiently appointed with kitchen/tableware for three.
Annette was very nice and friendly. We were careful not to wear shoes as not to disturb her at night, as she lives right underneath.
One can hear the nearby Brooklyn Queens Expressway from the bedrooms, but we all could sleep fine.
The little bedroom is only accessible through the master bedroom. This was the only somewhat uncomfortable feature for us.
Being in Brooklyn for my daughters giving birth of her lovely baby girl, miss Bruno's sweet house on Henry street worked nicely in my plans. Mhb
