We had a great time staying in Bob's Paris apartment.
The apartment was very nicely decorated and outfitted. No surprises given what we expected to see given the Airbnb photos. The building is relatively quiet and in a quiet neighborhood. The only sounds we would hear would be from a small child upstairs and occasional piano lessons next door. Overall, noise was not a problem for us.
Plenty of good bakeries nearby. We sampled goods from at least five bakeries all within a few blocks walking distance. There are also several small markets nearby as well as a number of bistros and a local butcher or two.
It was very easy getting around the city either by bus or RER. Weather was pretty good so we did a lot of walking. Never had the occasion or need to hire a taxi.
One of our adult sons stayed with us during part of our stay, and the apartment was fine for the three of us. My wife loved the little kitchen and we cooked a number of meals there.
Bob did an excellent job providing us with information prior to our arrival and called us a couple of times during our stay to make sure that all was well and that we understood the check-out procedure. We were met at the apartment by his local housekeeper, who even though she didn't speak English, had no problem explaining how to use the dishwasher, washing machine, etc.
If you are interested in science history, the Curie Institute is a couple of blocks away and they have a nice museum highlighting the work of Marie and Pierre Curie and their daughter. And of course, the Luxembourg Gardens are also nearby and quite beautiful.
Given the opportunity, we'd definitely stay at Bob's apartment again.
Foooormidable! L'appartement de Bob est un des meilleurs que nous ayons loués à Paris. Aucun détail pour faire de notre séjour un régal ne manquait!
Aucun souci, de la première à la dernière minute.
Even with our host Bob far away, we felt like being pampered at every minute.
Such attentioned people are a jem rare to be found.
Merci du fond du coeur, nous reviendrons surement chez vous.
Yves & famille
I never take the time to write reviews, but Bob and his wonderful apartment were so awesome I'm making a special effort to tell the world that if you're coming to Paris make sure to stay at Bobs. I've never had such a great experience. His place looks exactly like it does in the pics - it's better even in real life. The instructions on how to get there were perfect and easy. If I come back to Paris I will be staying there again :)
We had a wonderful time in Paris and loved Bob's apartment. It is a beautiful, traditional 19th century apartment in a quiet residential street. The flat was spacious and really well equipped and Bob was a great host. He provided us with lots of detailed and useful information about just about everything we needed to know as visitors to Paris and he telephoned to welcome us and check everything was ok the day we arrived. We were never more than a phone call or email away if we needed anything. The area where the apartment is situated is nice and quiet, but just a few minutes walk from Rue Mouffetard, where there are great restaurants, cafes, markets and shops. We used the local buses, which stop just a few minutes walk from the apartment, and the metro at Censiers Daubenton, which is about a 10 minute walk. It was a thrill to discover le Jardin du Luxembourg just minutes away and within 15-20 minutes walking we were in the heart of St Germain - fantastic! Next time we visit Paris we would love to stay at Bob's apartment again. It was perfect for us. Thanks Bob!
This is an excellent apartment and Bob is a brilliant host. If you want to experience whats its like ti live in Paris this is a great place. We often bought food from the local stores that Bob suggested and ate in with a great glass of wine, great food, great company and the beautiful ambience of the apartment. Although the apartment is tucked away from the tourist areas its a quick ride on the bus. We will definitely be back
We have visited Paris before but this beautiful apartment totally defined our Parisian experience this year. Its location is central, the apartment style is elegant and most comfortable. The hospitality and thoughtfulness of Bob, the owner, is exceptional. We thoroughly recommend it and we thank Bob sincerely.
My husband, grown daughter and myself just arrived home after spending 7 wonderful days in Bob's apartment. The apartment was immaculate, very comfortable and very spacious for three people. Location just perfect - buses and metro so close and the short walk to Luxembourg gardens was perfect. Bob was so helpful before our trip, giving us information re buses, metro, restaurants and grocery stores. We highly recommend Bob's apartment as it is first class and a wonderful way to enjoy your holiday to Paris. We very much recommend Bob and his apartment. October 2013
Bob's apartment is FANTASTIC.The house manual for the apartment and the neighborhood is full of helpful (email hidden)b called shortly after we arrived to make sure we were all settled in and during the call explained to Becky how to operate the washer-dryer.Bob is a great guy, friendly, very easy to deal with and speaks perfect English.Follow Bob's advice and take 27 bus for an interesting view of the city.Go to the bakery on Boulevard de Port Royal a short walk from the apt.Go as early as you can, what is better then walking in Paris in the morning, returning with a still warm baguette.
Another lovely feature of the apartment is the pocket door to the living room, when pulled together you have a separate, enclosed sleeping area. The sofa is a pullout which makes up into a large bed.
The Luxembourg Garden is enjoyed by families with young children and not at all touristy.
This is a 5 star place to stay.
Well, we never got to stay in Bob's Left Bank apartment...no fault of his! DH had a problem knee that got worse before we got to Paris so we had to cancel at the last minute. However, our dealings with Bob from start to finish showed him to be helpful, professional and kind. His enthusiasm for his apartment was contagious and I enjoyed our pre-departure chat. Bob provided us with a wonderful AirBnB experience. I would not hesitate to recommend him, and the next time we go to Paris I will contact Bob first!
My daughter, granddaughter (14) and I spent several wonderful nights in Bob's apartment. It was charming, immaculate, and every need had been anticipated. The apartment is on a quiet street in a French neighborhood with every convenience nearby. The location was absolutely perfect for us. RER stop (Luxembourg) is a short walk....as are buses. Bob was available by phone for any questions and was a great host. I would love to return. Wonderful, comfortable bed in bedroom and pull out sofa extremely comfortable as well....unlike the usual pull-outs.
