The house is smoke free.
Make yourself at home! Enjoy the wood stove and hi-fi in the cozy living room, and you're welcome to use the kitchen, laundry facilities, and wi-fi, of course. Interaction with Guests
My girlfriend, Anna, and I live here, so you'll be sharing the space with with us. We're both quiet and easygoing, and happy to answer questions about the area or to make recommendations. We're both teachers, so we're at work weekdays during the school year, and usually home in the evenings. This isn't a B&B. We don't provide breakfast, but the full kitchen, including coffee maker, toaster oven, and fridge space, is open to you.
We have a dog named Sander. He is a quiet and gentle 55 lb shepherd mix. He will greet you quietly at the front door, and probably check in on you if you leave your bedroom door open.
The house is a sweet little 1950's ranch in what's called the "New North End" of Burlington. The neighborhood is quiet, friendly, and safe.
3 miles from downtown Burlington (15 minutes by city bus or bike, 5 by car).
5 minute walk to grocery, restaurants, and other shops & services.
10 minute walk to a beautiful beach on Lake Champlain.
Close and easy to Burlington's excellent bike paths, walking trails, Ethan Allen Park, and an indoor skating rink.
There is a city bus stop two short blocks from the front door.
Other Things to Note
If you are traveling with a dog, we may be able to accommodate you. Just let us know. No cats, please.
We welcome you into our home as our guest. You'll find us to be quite easy going, but we do have the following requests:
• Please remove your outdoor shoes at the door.
• If you must smoke, do so outside on the sidewalk, and pick up your butts.
• There is ample street parking, and the neighborhood is very safe. In the summer, please park on the street. In the winter, park on the street unless there is a parking ban (snow plowing). If there is a parking ban, we can juggle cars in the driveway.
• Come and go as you please - no curfew.
• Late night check-ins are no problem.
Nathan and Anna were wonderful hosts who were easygoing, thoughtful and full of Burlington knowledge. They helped us settle in and gave us suggestions on where to eat (we decided to go to American Flatbread.) The next day, Nathan gave us the idea to go to Leddy Beach for the sunset over Lake Champlain. It was truly beautiful! In the morning, Nathan and Anna set out tea and honey for us to try. Overall, the experience was quiet, peaceful and wonderful. I highly recommend them!
Nathan and Anna's home was the perfect spot for my recent stay in Burlington. Cozy, clean, sweetly appointed and clearly well thought out. Great hosts. I will definitely book here again! Also, I arrived very late on my first night, and due to exhaustion after a long day of travel, I misread the street number and got a bit confused finding the place. Nathan couldn't have been more gracious about receiving my late night call for clarity. Highly recommend this listing!
Nathan & Anna's place is lovely, clean and in a great location. The bedroom was as it's pictured and described. Nathan & Anna are both nice, easy going, helpful and know great addresses to enjoy the area's culture. I would definitely stay there again!
Nathan was very welcoming, the house was very well kept and there was even a toasty warm fire going in the living room wood stove when I arrived early evening.
I didn't get a chance to chat with Nathan as I basically checked-in and then headed out for a pre-planned event and he was up and off to work early the next morning. However, what few words I did have with Nathan gave me a sense that he's a kind person.
The bedroom was as it's pictured/described. The room temperature was at 63 degrees F after closing the bedroom door at night (fine for sleeping, but a little chilly for sitting and watching a movie on a laptop or reading in bed.) There is no way to adjust the room temp for just that room.
Finally, I especially appreciated how accommodating Nathan was when icy roads prevented me from traveling the day of my reservation and Nathan was nice enough to let me push my arrival to the following day.
We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. Nathan and Anna were not home but had left us a note, and a warm inviting home. In the morning, we were able to sleep late even tho they were up because they were so considerately quiet. I would gladly stay there again.

About the Host, Nathan
My hosting and adventuring partner, Anna, and I work and play in the beautiful Green Mountain state.
I moved to Burlington in 2005 for the outstanding quality of life this city offers. Before that, I lived in New York City, Toronto, and Thunder Bay, Canada. Anna beat me here by a year, arriving in 2004 from the Granite state to attend UVM and loved it so much she stayed.
Anna and I are both middle school teachers. I teach science; Anna teaches math and social studies. When we're not at our day jobs, we like to get out and enjoy the amazing natural and cultural resources of the Burlington area: theater, music, food, swimming, bicycling, paddling, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and riding, and gardening.
We're both pretty easygoing and low maintenance - as travelers and as hosts.
