You will love staying here. Comfy, inviting space with all the gizmos. Across the street from great bars and restaurants. Bus lines are right out front and metro is 5 blocks - easy access to the whole city.
Right in the heart of Mount Pleasant, this beautiful apartment faces south east and gets direct sunshine until mid day. I rebuilt it myself - a lot of love has gone into making this apartment comfortable and beautiful. Long plush couch is perfect for relaxing and watching a movie. Eames chair is the space for reading. The kitchen has everything and is a delight to cook in. Washer / dryer too for extended stay.
Mount Pleasant is a historic district and filled with beautiful homes and is also the heart of the Latin community.
- 3 block radius has a dozen restaurants, a medium size grocery, multiple small bodegas that sell beer and wine, a 7-11, multiple dry cleaners, a liquor store. Everything you need.
- 5 blocks to the Columbia Heights Metro. Metro runs straight downtown to Verizon Center / Gallery Place. National Airport is a straight shot and takes 25 minutes.
- 50 meters to Dupont Circle bus and 2 blocks from the bus that will take you straight to the White House in 10 minutes.
- 2 blocks from Captial Bike Share service.
- 5 zip car locations within a 5 minute walk.

I rebuilt this apartment myself and would like for guests to treat it as their own place. The couch is easily big enough for a 3rd person but it is not a pull out. Rules for the house include:
- No smoking
- No pets
- No loud parties
- No shoes in the house (there is a shoe rack in the entrance hallway)
I had an amazing time in Washington DC, largely because of our accommodations at Jay's apartment. The building is 2 miles north of downtown DC, in a very cute neighborhood with a great Thai Food restaurant around the corner and a BikeShare Station. The apartment itself is beautiful- newly re-done and very eclectic in style. It was exceptionally clean, bright, and open. Jay, himself, was awesome. We had a scheduling mistake and I asked to come one night early and he was totally fine with that. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Definitely hoping to go back in the near future.
The reservation was canceled 23 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great experience! I loved the vibrant, eclectic Mt. Pleasant neighborhood and the beautifully appointed apartment where I felt at home in a matter of minutes. Jay is a delightful, considerate and generous host who took the time to make sure I understood where everything was and how everything worked. From the plush towels and luxurious linens to the window boxes in bloom, there are little touches everywhere that make this a special place. Jay seems to have thought of everything you could want to make your stay comfortable – and more. (I especially enjoyed that bottle of Malbec!) Thanks, Jay!
Jay was a great host and his home was exactly what were were looking for. The home was just as nice as in the pictures - clean, bright, comfortable bed, lovely kitchen. We were able to easily walk to both the metro and a bus, and there are restaurants nearby. Jay made sure that we had all the necessary information about his home and the area. While I did not meet him in person, he did call before our visit and we exchanged several emails. He clearly cares about making his guests comfortable. I would recommend staying here.
The apartment is very pleasant and the location is beautiful, plus Jay was a very kind and flexible host, especially regarding checking in and checking out. He was extremely helpful and gave us great tips on where to eat well in Washington...we would love to stay in the same place next time we visit :-)
Jay was an exceptional host. The place was spacious, quiet, and clean. The location is convenient for Metro travel and eating. This is a great spot for business travelers and couples. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone looking for an affordable and quality DC experience.

I am an intrepid traveler. I grew up overseas and was taught from the very beginning how to be at home when I am not. Dad was a foreign service officer and I was lucky enough to spend most of my early life in Europe and down under. As an adult I lived and traveled through most of Asia and worked for a long list of Fortune 10 companies. I broke free last year finally and am now focused exclusively on my little company EarPeace - high fidelity hearing protection for live music and nightclubs.
I do 5+ triathlons per year, lots of yoga, I cook everyday and love to take care of my home (please see listing). I don't own a car - my transportation is a bicycle. I am a big fan of keeping things orderly. I think it's the only way that I have survived owning my own business in the entertainment industry. When you come into my home everything is where it should be, the windows are clean and the kitchen is ready to cook a meal. When I am in someone else's home I like it to find it that way and leave it that way. I am a big believer in that when you take care of others they take care of you.
